Shen Heyu heard his voice and hurriedly turned her head to look.
She saw Pei Yansi exaggeratedly clutching his abdon, nearly rolling around on the hospital bed.
Shen Heyu frowned in puzzlent, knowing him as she did, he wasn’t soone to show his feelings openly.
Even if he was in unbearable pain, he wouldn’t make it so obvious.
Like every other ti he had been injured for her sake, even while undergoing agonizing treatnts in the hospital, he wouldn’t even blink.
As if he couldn’t feel the pain at all.
The him in front of her was vastly different from the him of the past.
Shen Heyu put down her cup of water and quickly walked over to him, reaching out to touch his abdon, “What’s really going on? Should I call a doctor for you?”
Lu Yi was behind them, unseen by Shen Heyu, and he exchanged provocative glances with Pei Yansi.
The tone she used when speaking to Pei Yansi was clearly different from when she spoke to him, much colder when it ca to him.
Not like how anxious she sounded when dealing with him.
Receiving Lu Yi’s provocative look, a surge of anger welled up in Pei Yansi, yet he dared not show it, and rely grabbed Shen Heyu’s hand, “No need for a doctor, just stay by my side.”
Shen Heyu frowned in puzzlent, “That won’t do, I am not a panacea…”
Before she could finish, Pei Yansi cut her off, “You are my panacea!”
“Where on earth did you learn to talk like that?” Shen Heyu felt extrely bewildered, was he still the sa Pei Yansi?
Now he displayed pain and spouted cheesy romantic lines that made her cringe. If it had been a less handso man, he would have seed downright sleazy.
Fortunately, Pei Yansi was very handso, his flawless face making those words more amusing than annoying.
Pei Yansi didn’t say a word and feigned pain again.
Feeling helpless, Shen Heyu could only sit beside him, quietly keeping him company.
She rembered that she had just visited Chen Lingng and hadn’t updated him yet, so she said, “I went to see her, and she hasn’t woken up yet. She was in the passenger seat, so her injuries are more severe.”
Chen Lingng’s condition was at least twice as critical as Lu Yi’s, and she was in the intensive care unit.
Pei Yansi casually acknowledged it, offering no further comnt.
She felt even more puzzled, “Why aren’t you concerned? Wasn’t it you who asked to visit her?”
Her words had just ended when Lu Yi’s voice ca from behind, “I feel a bit of pain in my arm.”
Shen Heyu quickly turned around, “Where does it hurt? Let call the doctor for you.”
Lu Yi hastily shook his head, “Just stay here with .”
Hearing his words, nearly identical to Pei Yansi’s, Shen Heyu finally realized what was strange.
She froze for a mont, then quickly snapped back to reality, standing upright between the two hospital beds, her icy gaze sweeping back and forth between the two n.
After a long while, she sneered, “You two really know how to play, treating like a fool, huh?”
The room fell silent for a ti.
Neither man spoke, exchanging looks as if both realized their blunder, yet it was clear that both were still consud by jealousy.
Shen Heyu felt a headache coming on, recalling the palace dramas of her youth, she had always found it tireso how won would fight over n, but now genuinely witnessing n’s jealousy, she just felt overwheld.
“How old are you guys, playing such childish gas? Is it fun?”
Shen Heyu’s voice was very cold, clearly showing her anger.
Lu Yi couldn’t stand to see her upset, and he quickly lowered his head, “I’m sorry, I didn’t do it on purpose, I just rarely get to have ti alone with you, that’s why…”
“And you?”
Shen Heyu turned towards Pei Yansi. Lu Yi had already apologized and acknowledged his mistake, so why was this man still indifferent?
Pei Yansi lowered his gaze. He sat up from the hospital bed, looking completely healthy. However, he didn’t speak and didn’t admit his wrongdoing.
He just looked deeply at Shen Heyu.
Getting Pei Yansi to admit his fault was like waiting for the sun to rise from the west.
Shen Heyu realized this and said coldly, “If you really get sick one day, I won’t care about you!”
Pei Yansi finally spoke, his voice filled with grievance, “I know I was wrong, I just felt very jealous seeing you more upset at Lu Yi.”
“So, I concocted this sche to compete with him.”
As Pei Yansi spoke, he walked forward, trying to grab Shen Heyu’s hand to apologize.
But she stepped back, not letting him touch her, “You two are really sothing! At such a critical mont, you still pull this childish stunt!”
Both n fell silent. Even having admitted their faults and apologized, they were powerless to appease Shen Heyu’s anger.
Shen Heyu stayed mad for a while, then turned and walked away without bothering with them anymore.
Pei Yansi gave Lu Yi a cold look. If it weren’t for his ridiculous idea, how could he have ended up competing with jealousy?
He quickly followed her.
In the hallway, he caught up to her. “Don’t be angry.”
Shen Heyu said, “I’m not angry.”
“I don’t believe it.”
Pei Yansi took her hand, played with it in his palm, and led her to sit on a bench downstairs in the hospital, “I have promised to make it up to you, so I need to take care of all your emotions.”
“This ti it was my fault, please forgive .”
Shen Heyu looked at him and saw sincerity in his eyes but remained silent.
Pei Yansi continued to apologize; he said a whole slew of nice things, which he wouldn’t have known how to say if it hadn’t been for today.
Eventually, after much talking, his mouth went dry. Then Shen Heyu slowly beca moved, “Lu Yi is the patient, why compete with him? It’s almost comical, you always claim I am your wife, belonging only to you forever.”
“Then why be foolish over such trivial matters?”
Pei Yansi paused, “Are you saying that you also admit you only belong to ?”
Shen Heyu was taken aback, not expecting to get herself tangled up. Her face blushed, “That’s not what I ant. I was just scolding you angrily, using it as an example.”
Although she said that, Pei Yansi didn’t believe it could really be so.
He embraced Shen Heyu in his arms, “I understand now, I won’t be foolish about these things again. You can go take care of Lu Yi, I won’t say anything more.”
Because he knew, no matter who Shen Heyu was with, her rest of her life would always belong to him only.
And no one could take that away from him. Her current companionship was rely out of years of friendship, just taking care of them, but ultimately, she would return by his side, to grow old with him together.
With this realization, Pei Yansi, at last, showed a long-missing smile.
