Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Disassociate

“I know all this drama today was orchestrated by Grandpa Chen at your behest.”

Pei Yansi didn’t mince his words, leaving no room for sentint.

Chen Lingng stared at him quietly, noting the indifference in his eyes. She wanted to defend herself, but as her words reached her lips, she swallowed them down.

She didn’t dare to defend herself in front of him now. Most importantly, if he believed it to be true, she should seize this opportunity to win him over.

So, she didn’t deny it and said, “Since you know, you should understand my purpose. Yansi, after all this ti, can you truly say you want nothing to do with ?”

“The woman you are with now, I don’t think she’s worthy of you at all.”

Pei Yansi’s gaze turned colder as he heard her last remark. He looked at her and said icily, word by word, “I advise you best not ddle with the people around .”

Chen Lingng bit her lip, surprised that he was so protective of her, and rembered how he pampered her in the private room, his smiles never once directed at her.

Yet they were childhood sweethearts, grown up with deep feelings for each other – what was Shen Heyu compared to that?

The more Chen Lingng thought about it, the more she felt aggrieved. She said, “Am I not soone close to you as well? Or do you think she really is more important than …”

She was cut off before she could finish her sentence by the sound of Pei Yansi scoffing. His laughter was filled with disdain for Chen Lingng,

and a hint of mockery.

Chen Lingng, interrupted, didn’t continue, but instead looked up at Pei Yansi, her eyes showing a faint hope.

Pei Yansi, smiling, said, “She is my wife. By speaking this way, aren’t you asking for trouble?”

Chen Lingng clenched her fists tightly, her fingernails digging into her flesh, the sharp pain insignificant compared to her clarity of thought.

So clear on what she wanted, deeply imprinted in her mind.

She ignored Pei Yansi’s mockery and continued, “Is she really your wife? Why has nobody heard about it? With your status, why would you need to hide your marriage?”

“From what I see, maybe that’s not the case. She doesn’t love you, or, she’s not with you willingly, right?”

In a few sentences, she prodded at Pei Yansi’s deepest wounds and taboos.

Pei Yansi’s eyes were icy cold, shards of ice turning into a thousand knives when he looked at Chen Lingng.

Chen Lingng was frightened by that look, her heart quivering slightly. If a gaze could kill, she thought, she would no longer exist before him.

Pei Yansi stared at her and said, “I’ll say this one last ti, it’s impossible for to marry you. I have a wife, and whether or not we keep it secret is our business. You, an outsider, should not get involved. Or else, you should know what I am capable of.”

“Also, what you ntioned about the relationship between you and , understand this – I, Pei Yansi, don’t form attachnts with anyone unless I choose to.”

“Furthermore, if I hear you saying those things about her again, I won’t be lenient.”

Having said that, Pei Yansi got up to leave without any hint of sentint.

He hadn’t stepped away from the sofa when suddenly soone grasped his clothes.

Chen Lingng pulled with force, first grabbing his attire, then even more audaciously reached out her arms and tightly hugged his waist.

Pei Yansi’s body stiffened, he hadn’t expected her to make such a move.

He lowered his head, staring at the fingers that were clasped around his waist, tender and slender, with an exquisite manicure, unlike Shen Heyu’s.

Shen Heyu’s nails were clean and bare, without any manicure as decoration, the pink revealing whiteness, very pretty.

Now when Pei Yansi saw Chen Lingng’s fingers, he only felt disgust. A flash of obvious disdain passed through his eyes, too scornful to bother moving her hand, he coldly warned, “Let go, don’t force to act.”

But Chen Lingng was far from willing to agree.

She had finally found her opportunity today. Not only did she not let go, but she also rested her head on his back, like a little woman longing for her lover. When she spoke, her voice was choked up:

“Yansi, my feelings for you are sincere. I have always kept our childhood friendship in my heart these many years. In my ti abroad, I never had anyone else, I was always waiting to co back ho and continue where we left off…”

Right now, outside the study’s door, Shen Heyu was standing there, listening to the conversation inside.

Initially, she was sitting downstairs, but found the Cheng Family villa to be too vast, so spacious that she felt bored. She even thought about leaving, about running away before Pei Yansi.

But before she could carry out her plans, she saw Grandpa Chen coming down the stairs. He was chuckling as he looked at her and said she should go upstairs to the study.

Thinking that Pei Yansi might have been wanting to see her, or perhaps their conversation about Chen Lingng needed her, she followed without any suspicion.

Little did she know, as soon as Shen Heyu got to the door, she heard the argunt inside the study.

It was not so much an argunt, but more like Chen Lingng creating a ruckus all by herself.

From her angle, she couldn’t see clearly what was happening in the room, so she could not see Chen Lingng hugging Pei Yansi.

She could only hear Chen Lingng and his voice.

Chen Lingng’s voice, laden with sobs, sounded so pitiful, utterly heartrending. Just by listening, she felt it was unworthy and painful.

Yet, the man remained still as an iceberg, unaffected, not at all moved by her actions.

She heard his voice, cold, conveying a dangerous threat, “I’m warning you for the last ti, let go of and don’t talk about any feelings anymore.”

“It’s best not to force to act. You know my thods.”

“Don’t…”

Chen Lingng was still desperately clinging on, hugging his waist firmly, crying incessantly.

Pei Yansi gradually realized that the back of his clothes was getting damp from her tears.

Apart from Shen Heyu, he detested anyone leaving such marks on him.

His face turned colder, and without further care, he turned around and fiercely shook off Chen Lingng.

His strength was great, showing no rcy. Chen Lingng was thrown onto the sofa.

Even though the sofa was soft, Chen Lingng was flung down hard. She clutched her chest, her brow furrowed, looking very uncomfortable.

She slumped over the sofa, her clothes disheveled a fair bit. She raised her head, her tearful eyes foggy as she looked at Pei Yansi, “Do you really have no feelings left for , not even the childhood friendship…”
