Chapter 137: Chapter 137: The Truth Chapter 137: Chapter 137: The Truth Shen Heyu’s hair was yanked, causing tears to burst forth from the corners of her eyes.

At twenty-one, she was young and naturally terrified when soone grabbed her like that, and she cried out, “Let go! I called the police! My sister will co looking for soon, and she won’t let you get away with this!”

The leader sneered, not only did he not let her go, but he also tightened his grip on her hair and laughed, “What are you babbling about? We got here thanks to your sister Shen Fanshuang providing the address!”

“What are you saying…” Shen Heyu froze, unable to believe that it was Shen Fanshuang who had provided these people with her location.

Seeing her unawareness, the leader cruelly burst her bubble, “Your dad asked her for money, she’s timid, so she claid you were here with money, being kept by so wealthy patron.”

“Your dad asked you for money, and you refused, so he turned to us. Considering you’re young and pitiable, big brother here is telling you the truth. Now, better hand over all the money you have on you quickly, and perhaps, big brother here might let you off the hook.”

Shen Heyu’s scalp ached from being pulled, with tears continuously falling.

But it was too late, with closing ti at the bar being around two to three in the morning, barely anyone was on the streets, and the university area was quite secluded.

Everything around was pitch black. Only the streetlights faintly glowed, casting a dim light.

Through her tear-blurred eyes, she saw a figure at the entrance of a nearby alley, leaning against a telegraph pole, tall and seemingly smoking with his head lowered.

She didn’t think, only wanting help, she shouted towards the figure, “Save !”

The leader, hearing her voice, looked over and only then noticed there was soone nearby, but from his angle, he could see the other person clearly.

Just a young student.

Seed about the sa age as the girl he was holding.

He didn’t care about it and said coldly, “You really think he can save you? Who is he? Just a little brat! I advise you to hand over the money quickly! Don’t test my patience!”

“I don’t have any money!” Shen Heyu yelled.

Those people quickly grew impatient, evidently experienced in this line of business, knowing that the longer they waited, the more likely things would go awry, they began to frisk her.

Looking for money.

But the mont a man touched a woman, so things are bound to change, and Shen Heyu instantly felt the man behind her change, scaring her out of her wits as she cried even louder, her sobs echoing through the dark alley.

Then she saw that man snuff out the cigarette in his hand and slowly turn his head to look at her.

Pei Yansi had another argunt at ho that night and had gone out with friends for a gathering, not wanting to return even at this late hour.

With his status, of course, he wouldn’t be staying overnight.

Smoking his cigarette, he felt the girl’s cries for help irritating, not intending to get involved, but seeing so many n wanting to do other things to her changed the situation.

Asking for money was one thing, but seeking her body was not acceptable.

He put out his cigarette and started walking towards them, still so young at twenty-four, his handso features marked by youthful arrogance. With one hand in his pocket and his head cocked, he said to them, “Isn’t it a bit much for so many grown n to bully one young lady?”

Shen Heyu heard his voice, which was very pleasant, low, and textured.

The people behind her clearly halted their movents.

She lifted her head to look at him; he stood not far from her, the dim light from the streetlamp casting its light upon him, illuminating his striking face.

She watched in a daze, recognizing him as the school heartthrob, very famous; she had only seen him at large events and had no deep impression of him.

But his face didn’t need an impression to be unforgettable.

The leader stared at him coldly, “Little brat, don’t ddle in things that don’t concern you. This isn’t sothing you can handle!”

Pei Yansi sneered, his smile sinister and his gaze icy, “Oh really? Who’s calling whom a little brat?”

“Lil’ brat’s talking about you!”

Pei Yansi said coldly, “I’ll count to three. If you don’t let go by then, don’t bla for not being nice.”

“Who do you think you are…”

“One.”

The gang leader’s words were cut off abruptly, much to his annoyance, “You…”

“Two.”

“Son of a…”

“Three.”

When Pei Yansi saw they still had no intention of letting go, he snorted displeasedly and pulled out his cellphone to make a call, simply saying two words to the other end: “Co down.”

Within just two or three minutes, Shen Heyu saw a crowd of people erge from the internet cafe not far away. They were dressed in black suits, complented by white gloves.

They surged forward, imdiately seizing the little thugs who had been bullying Shen Heyu and beat them ruthlessly.

The gang leader howled and begged for rcy as he was being hit.

Once Shen Heyu was freed, she didn’t care about anything else and, seeing Pei Yansi like a savior, she impulsively ran to his side, seeking refuge behind him.

Pei Yansi was taken aback by her action. He frowned slightly as he looked at her, a pretty face indeed, but filthy, with tears streaked all over, her eyes red and swollen, like a pitiful little rabbit.

Her features were clean-cut, perhaps too much so, which made her seem distant.

He didn’t like that sense of detachnt. If her features hadn’t been so refined, and she had just cried pitifully, showing her dependency on him, maybe he would have been a little interested.

He asked in a deep voice, “Scared?”

Shen Heyu realized she was hiding behind him. She paused, slowly stepped out from behind him with her head down, her voice almost inaudible, “Thank you.”

She didn’t say whether she was scared or not.

Pei Yansi really disliked that kind of false bravado.

If she had been sobbing, saying she was scared, and continued hiding behind him, maybe… he would have seen it through to the end. It was just money after all, he didn’t lack it, and at worst, he could have taken care of her.

Suddenly, he felt it was all quite pointless.

He let out a scornful chuckle and said, “What a spirit.”

Pei Yansi glanced at his underlings not far away and said, “Let’s go.”

He led his group away, leaving Shen Heyu behind. She watched his retreating figure, arrogant and conceited.

Tall and imposing, yet he also gave a profound sense of security.

Before he left, he instructed those n in so matter; after that, no one ever bothered Shen Heyu again.

Shen Heyu told Pei Yansi all this, watching him sit next to her, his head lowered in thought.

Many years had passed since then, and he had shed the recklessness of his youth; rather than the arrogance and conceit of those days, he now exuded composure, deep thoughts, and a complexity that was difficult to grasp.

Seeing he didn’t say anything, Shen Heyu smiled with a hint of self-mockery, “I knew it, you wouldn’t believe . You never have believed .”

Pei Yansi’s dark eyes lifted to et hers.
