He played his cards with a fait accompli, the words "girlfriend" already out there; even if Su Yao did not want to help, she had no choice now.
Before they had even started their al, Lu Ci’s phone rang; it was his dad calling.
Lu Ci frowned as he answered, but before he could say anything, he heard the person on the other end barrage him with questions: "Uncle Hu said he saw you out with your girlfriend having a al? Since when did you have a girlfriend, and how co I didn’t know? Bring her ho for dinner tonight!"
Lu Ci: "..."
Do middle-aged n really exchange information just as quickly as middle-aged won who love to gather and gossip about things?
"Dad." Lu Ci gave a helpless wry smile: "We’ve only just started dating; isn’t it a bit early to bring her ho?"
"What’s the big deal? I’ll give her a red envelope! That settles it then, I’ve canceled my dinner plans tonight, I’ll be waiting at ho for you!"
The call ended abruptly as the phone was hung up, leaving Lu Ci repeatedly saying "hello" before he took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"What’s wrong?" Su Yao seed to sense that sothing was amiss and cautiously asked.
Lu Ci wanted to speak out but stopped himself, not wanting to bring her ho, but knowing all too well what his father’s temper was like.
If the old man found out he was lying to him, without a doubt, from tomorrow on, the arranged dates wouldn’t stop coming.
This old man was now desperate for a grandchild, influenced by Fu Yu’an, believing all the world’s children were as adorable and well-behaved.
After much hesitation, Lu Ci finally spoke, "Would you mind joining for dinner tonight?"
"I do mind, very much so."
"What if there was money involved? A large sum." Lu Ci persisted, "One al, Miss Su, would you do the honor?"
"Are you slowly boiling a frog in warm water? Tricking bit by bit? Do you think I look like soone who needs money? Who do you think you are contemptuous towards?"
"One thousand."
Su Yao: "..."
"Two thousand?"
Su Yao: "..."
"Three thousand!"
Su Yao: "Deal."
Money talks. If you can’t push the millstone, it just ans the money isn’t enough; just add more until it is.
To earn three thousand just for having dinner, and that’s after-tax money, anyone who wouldn’t take that deal is a fool.
Su Yao looked at him seriously: "Pay half before the al; I’m afraid you’ll go back on your word."
Young Master Lu, who had never been spoken to like this in his life, signed a check in front of her, and in a gesture of sincerity, gave her the entire three thousand.
Su Yao happily took the check and snapped a photo to send to Su Wanxin, asking: "Is there anything you want, baby? Sis will buy it for you!"
Su Wanxin replied confusedly: "Weren’t you going on vacation? Why are you taking on a case again?"
Su Yao: "No, it’s just dinner tonight with soone."
Su Wanxin: "..."
Su Wanxin: "Has sothing co up at ho lately? If you’re short on cash, you can tell ..."
Had she fallen on such hard tis to earn money by accompanying drinks; wasn’t that too miserable?
Su Yao: "No, it’s not that. I’m just having dinner with Lu Ci tonight, and he is the one who begged ."
Seeing this, Su Wanxin shut her eyes and thought to herself it was a done deal, she had been sched.
Was Lu Ci’s money that easy to earn? Although Su Wanxin didn’t know Lu Ci well, she at least had so understanding of Fu Shihan.
Birds of a feather flock together. What kind of dinner could make Lu Ci willingly fork out three thousand? Was this actually so kind of a trap?
Feeling uneasy, Su Wanxin didn’t want to dampen Su Yao’s spirits, so she could only caution her to be careful.
After finishing their lunch, Su Yao and Lu Ci went back to Fu Group to find Fu Shihan.
By this ti, Fu Shihan had finished his work and returned. Seeing the two of them co together, he smiled with interest and asked, "Was the steak delicious?"
