Sheng Qian felt so wronged she was about to cry. She looked at Su Wanxin, puzzled, not understanding why Su Wanxin had to tell those lies that hurt the enemy by eight hundred but self-hard by one thousand.
"Do you really not want to reconcile with Fu Shihan?"
"I don’t. Ever since we broke up, I feel lighter on my feet, and I don’t want to go back." Su Wanxin answered firmly, then handed the phone back to Sheng Qian, "I’ve still got work to do, please excuse ."
After saying that, Su Wanxin left, leaving Sheng Qian standing there, dazed. It wasn’t until her agent called, telling her about a new job arrangent—a variety show...
Fu Shihan was ultimately angry, extending his malicious hand toward her—helpless, pitiable, and young.
Sheng Qian acted nonchalant as she replied with a "Got it," and after hanging up, she turned and strode directly to the Fu Group. She felt she could still salvage the situation; she couldn’t just surrender to her fate.
After watching her leave, Su Wanxin heaved a sigh of relief and continued working. Busy until the early morning, at one A.M., she left the company with her colleagues, each hailing a taxi ho.
By the ti she got back to her place, Mu Suyu surprisingly hadn’t slept yet. She was sitting on the sofa, organizing things. Seeing Su Wanxin return, she joyfully said, "You’re back! I thought you weren’t coming ho today!"
"Where else would I go if I didn’t co back?"
"Umm... maybe your ex-boyfriend’s place?"
Su Wanxin laughed and shook her head, walking over to look at the contents of her bag. "Another job?"
"Yeah, that sa unlucky male star, Lin Yifan. How co he always attracts unclean things?"
"Maybe he’s done too many unscrupulous things." Su Wanxin recalled, "He had a lot of girlfriends in high school; such an ostentatious guy."
"You knew him since high school?"
"I did."
Back then, Su Wanxin attended a renowned key high school in the Imperial Capital, right across the street from the notorious concentration camp for underachievers—Imperial Capital’s Number One Vocational High School.
And Lin Yifan was that school’s standout, who, after being pinned to the ground by Fu Shihan several tis, beca a loyal fan and junior admirer of Shihan.
"I’m gonna shower and head to bed. You should sleep soon too."
Su Wanxin didn’t want to think about the past anymore. She returned to her bedroom, took a shower, and sat on the edge of the bed, pulling out the nightstand drawer, which was filled with bottles and jars of dicine.
Looking at the handful of pills in her palm, Su Wanxin let out a self-mocking laugh.
Sotis, staying alive felt like such a difficult thing; she didn’t even know how long her body could hold up. She hoped it would last until the day she uncovered the whole truth.
Su Wanxin took the pills with water, laid down in bed, her headache causing her to toss and turn, struggling to sleep. She managed only four hours of sleep before an alarm woke her up, and after quickly eating sothing, she left for the office.
Fu Shihan didn’t send a driver again, probably still fuming over that phone call. Su Wanxin didn’t have access to a seven-star boxed lunch at noon, so she went out to eat with her colleagues, a rare occasion. That afternoon, she was called into the office by Chen Lei.
"There is a banquet tonight, attended mostly by peers in the industry. Quite a few people are interested in eting you. Would you like to join ?"
"Sure." Su Wanxin nodded straightforwardly, "We’ve clashed in private already, eting face-to-face is just a matter of ti. Isn’t there a competition in a few days? It’s good to et in advance."
Having agreed to go with Chen Lei, Su Wanxin left work with him.
The finance industry’s banquet was attended by the elite insiders.
Su Wanxin, following close behind Chen Lei, attracted sideways glances the mont she appeared.
