He heard footsteps and turned his head to look, his lips slightly raised, until she walked up to him and softly said, "I thought you were already asleep."
"But you still sent a ssage." Su Wanxin sat down beside him. "When did you co back, and did you call Xiao Yu?"
"I did, but we didn’t et."
"So heartless?" Su Wanxin frowned slightly. "You’ve been out of touch for so long, she’s been crying every day saying she dreamt you had an accident. At least et her once before you leave."
"Ti is tight, my flight’s in two hours. I actually didn’t plan to see you either, but thought this ti if I didn’t, I wouldn’t know when I’d be back next."
Mu Xinghan exhaled deeply, sowhat regretting ever getting into this line of work.
When he was young, he watched too many movies and with a passion jumped into the embrace of the police force, thinking fighting and catching criminals was much more interesting than drawing talismans and fortune-telling. But he hadn’t expected it to be a one-way street.
Being an undercover agent isn’t easy, nor is solving cases.
He followed the Alex lead for years, and now finally got him into prison, but it didn’t truly resolve the situation.
The reason he disappeared for so long, without even contacting Mu Suyu and Su Wanxin, was because he needed to "die."
His previous identity could no longer be used; he had to disappear for a while and erase all traces, then change identities completely.
He ca back this ti just to hand over tasks; he originally didn’t plan to see anyone but couldn’t resist in the end.
Su Wanxin took a small box out of her pocket and handed it to him. Mu Xinghan took it, opened it, and asked with a smile, "What does this an?"
"Keep it well, it was yours in the first place."
The amulet he’d worn since childhood, he gave to her when they t. For years after the car accident, Su Wanxin always wore it, and now that she’s gradually returned to her forr health, this treasure should go back to its owner.
"I don’t know where you’ll go or what you’ll do in the future, but you must promise , no matter what happens, if you need my help, you must call . If possible, try to stay in touch, I need to know you’re safe."
"If a certain soone with the last na Fu hears this..." Mu Xinghan joked with a smile, "it wouldn’t be good."
"You know I’m not joking; I hope you live well."
Mu Xinghan was silent for a mont, nodded, and carefully put away the item she returned. "Okay, I’ll contact you when I can. Xiao Yu will have to rely on you in the future."
He looked down at Su Wanxin’s belly and asked, "When’s the baby due?"
"Soon, two more months."
"Alright, I got it." He stood up with a smile and patted her hair. "It’s getting late, head back."
Su Wanxin walked down the mountain with him accompanying her. At the silent roadside, Fu Shihan was leaning against the car smoking, occasionally glancing up the hill, suppressing the urge to eavesdrop.
He saw the two co down and exchanged a look with Mu Xinghan from a distance, saying nothing.
No matter how you look at it, Fu Shihan just couldn’t grow fond of soone like Mu Xinghan. Tonight’s act of bringing Su Wanxin to et him was a one-ti ordeal in this lifeti, there definitely won’t be a next ti.
On the way back, Su Wanxin remained silent but kept the corners of her mouth raised, seemingly in a good mood. Fu Shihan occasionally turned to look at her, and finally couldn’t help but laugh and say, "Silly."
