Chapter 274: She fulfilled her promise (3)

ng Fan waved her hand and sat down by the roadside, saying, “Let’s rest for a while, I really can’t go on. You have no idea, the mont I close my eyes in the car, all sorts of chaotic images appear in my mind.”

Chaotic images?

Wen Zhi turned to negotiate with the driver for a bit, letting him wait in the car, and the driver said it wouldn’t be a problem.

Afterward, she approached ng Fan, squatted down, and asked, “What kind of images?”

“Let

think…” ng Fan concentrated to recall, but the images were always blurred: “It seed like Rong Huaishen was there, I am riding horses with him on the plains…”

On the vast plains, there were several galloping horses, with ng Fan sitting on the back of one, and soone leading the horse leisurely by the reins.

Then, suddenly, the horse started to run.

It was the person holding the reins, who flipped over to sit behind her, took her hands, reins included, and spurred the horse into a gallop.

When her mories reached this point, ng Fan sighed and shook her head: “I can’t rember anymore.”

“Then don’t think about it anymore.” Wen Zhi gently patted ng Fan on the back and didn’t continue to ask.

Once ng Fan had rested enough, Wen Zhi helped her up. At that mont, ng Fan suddenly grabbed Wen Zhi’s wrist, as if she had sothing to say.

However, this sudden action made Wen Zhi startle, and she looked at ng Fan: “Hmm?”

ng Fan suggested, “Why don’t we go on horseback instead?”

This proposal was so sudden and shocking that Wen Zhi was dumbfounded.

She had no concept of horseback riding, but she knew that in Licheng, horseback riding was very common, and horses were even one of the main ans of transportation in the city.

“Does that sound good, Zhizhi?” ng Fan asked.

Wen Zhi shook her head like a bobblehead: “No, no, I can’t ride horses.”

“You can ride!” ng Fan’s tone was very certain, but she lost her conviction with the second half of the statent: “Though you might have forgotten it now.”

Wen Zhi: “…”

How could that be considered knowing how to ride!

But given ng Fan’s current state, riding a horse would probably make her feel better, otherwise she might still look half dead if she got back in the car.

Though afraid, Wen Zhi acknowledged that perhaps she would rember how to ride once on a horseback, and most importantly, she was also worried about ng Fan suffering further.

And ng Fan also feared Wen Zhi might be too proud to admit her fears, so she confird with her repeatedly.

Both of them worried about each other, and finally, they agreed to go the rest of the way on horseback.

After that, ng Fan had the driver rent three horses from nearby. The driver didn’t object and was very efficient, quickly bringing back three horses—one for the driver and one each for Wen Zhi and ng Fan.

Before departing, the driver had received a significant fee from ng Fan for escorting them, so whether by car or by horse, he was responsible for taking ng Fan and Wen Zhi to their destination.

Before noon, Wen Zhi and ng Fan finally arrived at their destination.

“We’re finally here, that’s it ahead.” ng Fan pointed out the wooden villa a hundred ters away, which looked very grand.

Wen Zhi was too tired and lay motionless on the horse’s back: “It’s good to have arrived.”

ng Fan asked with concern: “Zhizhi, are you okay?”

“Okay, I’m fine.”

Wen Zhi propped herself up on the horse’s back and slowly straightened her waist. She gazed at the wooden villa in the distance, and after a long look, she suddenly said, “It feels a bit familiar, like I’ve been here before.”

ng Fan turned to Wen Zhi and said, “You’ve been here before.”

Wen Zhi asked, “With you?”

“Yes, it’s alright if you’ve forgotten, being in touch with the past you’ll slowly rember.”

ng Fan dismounted, tossing the reins to the driver, “Thanks for the hard work, brother.”

The driver gestured as if making a phone call, “Just call

if you need a ride.”

ng Fan gave an OK sign, “I’ll walk this stretch, but my friend can’t, she’s too tired. Let her rest on the horseback a while longer, please hold the reins for her.”

“Sure.”

The hundred ters or so, Wen Zhi nearly fell asleep again on the horseback.

She didn’t hear anyone calling her, but in a daze, she heard Chen Jinhai’s voice speaking. Weary, she opened her eyes and looked into the distance, seeing the figures of a man and a woman.

Soon, the man and the woman walked toward her.

“Zhizhi.”

“Miss Wen.”

Without the strength to sit up, Wen Zhi watched as ng Fan and Chen Jinhai approached. She could only greet Chen Jinhai while still lying down, “Hi~ Chen Zhu, we et again.”

Chen Jinhai’s face was full of tension, “Miss Wen, did you also co riding a horse?”

Wen Zhi nodded.

Chen Jinhai turned to look at ng Fan, who was baring her teeth in a smile, his face showing helplessness, “Miss ng, how could you bring Miss Wen on a horse ride? It’s too dangerous.”

ng Fan retracted her toothy smile, her face stern, “It’s all fine, isn’t it?”

Chen Jinhai reminded, “It’s just that Mr. Shang doesn’t know yet.”

ng Fan grew anxious, “Then don’t tell uncle, just say Zhizhi and I got a ride here.”

Chen Jinhai was just about to say that it would be impossible to hide this from Mr. Shang when out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a figure approaching. Chen Jinhai’s heart skipped a beat and he said to ng Fan, “Mr. Shang is already here.”

ng Fan: “…”

Wen Zhi also saw Shang Hexing approaching, and for so reason, she felt panicked and quickly said to ng Fan and Chen Jinhai, “Help

get off the horse, quick.”

How could Chen Jinhai dare to help? Mr. Shang was already coming over.

Seeing that Chen Jinhai wasn’t helping, ng Fan dared not assist either, and silently hid behind Chen Jinhai.

Watching Shang Hexing approaching, ng Fan forced a smile and took the initiative to greet him, “Hello, uncle.”

Shang Hexing’s gaze swept past ng Fan, his angry expression making ng Fan shrink back.

Shang Hexing retracted his gaze and stepped towards Wen Zhi.

As the distance closed, Wen Zhi straightened up on the horse with difficulty.

As their eyes t, Wen Zhi, with an embarrassed smile, gathered her courage and said, “I promised I would co to find you, and here I am.”

Shang Hexing didn’t say anything, walked up to the horse, and held out his hands to her, “Get down.”
