Chapter 224: She knew who to look for

ng Fan couldn’t believe it when she learned Wen Zhi’s secret; such bizarre occurrences seed as if they belonged in another dinsion.

It felt like an event that would only occur in an alternate dinsion.

That was until she agreed to try it with Wen Zhi.

And then they really did share a dream.

It was strange, but at that ti, ng Fan still didn’t believe it, thinking it might just be a coincidence that they happened to dream about each other.

Late, to convince ng Fan, both of them wore the Buddha Beads and tried once, twice, three tis, and each ti they indeed entered the dream together. Only then did ng Fan truly believe in the remarkable nature of these Buddha Beads.

“Are you sure after trying several tis, you found the beads no longer allow shared dreams?” ng Fan asked seriously.

Wen Zhi’s voice was very low: “Twice.”

ng Fan looked into Wen Zhi’s eyes and guessed, “You tried again last night, and because it failed, you couldn’t sleep all night?”

Wen Zhi nodded.

“You’re silly.” ng Fan stretched out her finger and pushed Wen Zhi’s head. “If it failed, just sleep normally. Do you know how harmful staying up all night is to your body?”

“Couldn’t sleep,” Wen Zhi said, a hint of bitterness on the corner of her lips.

Sensing Wen Zhi’s purpose in her expression, ng Fan ventured, “So, are you here now because you want to…”

Wen Zhi nodded, “Yes, I want to try one more ti with you to confirm for the last ti whether these Buddha Beads really can’t be used anymore.”

“Okay.”

ng Fan didn’t hesitate for a second to agree.

She casually asked, “Should we go to your house or mine?”

After asking, without waiting for Wen Zhi to answer, ng Fan suddenly rembered sothing, “Wait, you moved back to the Shang family recently, are you still living there now?”

“No, I’ve moved back to the Wen Family,” Wen Zhi said.

“That’s good, let’s have the driver take us, I’ll go directly to the Wen Family with you now,” ng Fan decided, unhesitant to act imdiately.

However, just as the driver started the car and it turned around, ng Fan’s phone rang.

Glancing at the caller ID, it was Huaishen calling.

ng Fan instinctively wanted to press decline without a second thought.

Seeing this, Wen Zhi reminded her, “Maybe you should take it, in case Mr. Rong cos looking for you if the dream entering delays us.”

“Bastard.” ng Fan cursed out of habit, then said coldly: “As long as I don’t tell him, he won’t know where I am.”

After she declined the call, five seconds passed, and the phone rang again.

“Does this bastard ever give up!” ng Fan declined the call once more.

This ti, Huaishen did not call again, but ng Fan received a text ssage.

She opened it—

Huaishen Dog: Co to the old house this evening for your sister’s welco party.

After reading the ssage, ng Fan imdiately turned off her phone screen, “Always acting so superior, who can stand it.”

Wen Zhi was well aware of the volatile relationship between ng Fan and her spouse, and always unconditionally supported ng Fan.

Seeing ng Fan so troubled, Wen Zhi asked, “Any progress on the divorce?”

“No, no progress at all,” ng Fan put away her phone and flicked her bangs in frustration. “Being constantly manipulated by that bastard, I really have no backbone, I even despise myself.”

Wen Zhi bluntly stated, “It’s because he doesn’t want to divorce either.”

ng Fan had realized this herself and had since beco indifferent, “He can’t let go of Shen Zhiyao on one hand, and on the other, he doesn’t want to tarnish his image outside, demanding and vile!”

Wen Zhi thoughtfully suggested, “Do you want

to find you a good lawyer?”

“Do you know soone?” ng Fan asked.

Although ng Fan had a wide network and knew so powerful lawyers, none dared to take on her divorce case with Huaishen, because they were all afraid of offending him.

Knowing this all too well, ng Fan let it go.

Now that Wen Zhi brought it up, ng Fan suddenly realized: what if it was soone her uncle introduced?

Although Wen Zhi always maintained that she wouldn’t promise sothing she hadn’t done yet, she assured ng Fan to give her hope: “I will find you a very capable lawyer who is willing to take on your divorce case.”

ng Fan hugged Wen Zhi excitedly, “Zhizhi!”

Wen Zhi tried to avoid her injured hand being touched by ng Fan. She casually added, “I know you’re struggling with this marriage with him, but if he causes you too much pain, I do hope you can let go.”

“Zhizhi, I’ve actually figured it out.”

ng Fan suddenly sat up, “Since that day in Harbor City, when he defended Shen Zhiyao in front of , causing

to almost co to harm, I’ve realized after coming back that I won’t continue with him.”

Wen Zhi hesitated, then asked, “So, you two are now…”

ng Fan was quite calm, “Although he’s a jerk, he is indeed impressive in that aspect. We’re adults, after all, no matter who he thinks about during that ti, as long as it feels good, that’s fine.”

Wen Zhi nodded with a suppressed smile, “Well said.”

By the ti the car returned to the Wen Family, it was already eight o’clock.

When Wen Zhi and ng Fan entered, they ran into Su Tong, who had awakened not long ago.

Su Tong had been drugged the previous night, slept early, and slept very well, leaving her looking bright and cheerful today. She smiled warmly at Wen Zhi, “Good morning, miss. Miss ng is here too.”

Wen Zhi returned the smile and casually asked, “Did you sleep well last night?”

“Quite well, it’s just a bit…” Su Tong rubbed her back, “a bit of back and waist pain.”

Wen Zhi said, “It might be due to aging, osteoporosis, a normal phenonon.”

Su Tong could not smile anymore; she was only thirty-five, how could she be considered old?

ng Fan, standing behind Wen Zhi, suppressed her laughter. After returning to her bedroom upstairs, she guessed on a hunch, “The person you experinted on last night, it wasn’t Su Tong, was it?”

Wen Zhi turned around and blinked at ng Fan, “It was her.”

ng Fan said, “Looking at her, it seems she didn’t notice a thing.”

“She won’t notice it,” said Wen Zhi with certainty as she took out a pair of Buddha Beads and handed one to ng Fan.

ng Fan took them but hesitated a bit, “What if I can’t fall asleep now?”

Wen Zhi said, “ditate.”

ng Fan gritted her teeth, “I’ll try.”

Wen Zhi, eager to validate, did not forget to call Fang Rong to guard the door outside, not allowing anyone to disturb them.

She also asked Fang Rong for so dicine; if ng Fan could not sleep, she would rely on dication. Fang Rong provided the dicine and told Wen Zhi the different dosages required for a whole night’s sleep versus two hours. Wen Zhi listened carefully and rembered it.

She was fully prepared.

ng Fan was also very cooperative.

Two hours later, Wen Zhi woke ng Fan up.

ng Fan, still groggy upon awakening, sat up and took a while to rember why she was at Wen Zhi’s house.

She stretched and leaned in to ask, “Was it successful?”

Wen Zhi, with downcast eyes and a voice so soft it was almost inaudible, asked, “Do you have any mories from the dream?”

ng Fan felt a sudden pang in her heart.

None!

She felt that she had slept very soundly until she was awakened, with absolutely no mories of any dreams in her mind…

“It failed,” ng Fan murmured.

Wen Zhi responded, “Hmm.”

ng Fan lifted Wen Zhi’s face with her hands, “What do you think, are the Buddha Beads definitely broken?”

Wen Zhi looked into ng Fan’s eyes and said word by word, “It’s not necessarily that they’re broken.”

ng Fan puzzled, “Hmm?”

Wen Zhi removed ng Fan’s hands, “Perhaps soone knows the reason.”

“Who?” ng Fan asked eagerly.

Wen Zhi, caressing the Buddha Beads on her wrist, said, “Shang Jing.”

ng Fan, hearing Shang Jing’s na, beca even more puzzled, “How could it be related to Shang Jing?”

Wen Zhi stood up and explained, “The Buddha Beads were once kept with Chong Wanyin for a period, and later I entrusted Shang Jing to retrieve them for . Maybe… maybe Shang Jing has the reason I need to know.”
