??Chapter 221: He is eager.

Chapter 221: He is eager.

Shang Hexing lifted his jaw slightly, the corners of his mouth curling into a smile as he said, “What makes you think she would be an imposter?”

“She’s the Zhou Family’s precious daughter!”

Wen Zhi purposefully stated this as a preface before adding her own opinion, “If she really were the Zhou Family’s daughter, why would she lower herself so much in front of you? If I had her status, I definitely…”

Shang Hexing’s smile deepened, “You definitely what?”

Wen Zhi instantly lowered her voice a bit, “I definitely wouldn’t be so ek and subservient.”

Shang Hexing’s tone was loaded with implications, “So you’ve always been ek and subservient by my side.”

“I’m talking about Zhou Qin, don’t change the subject.” Wen Zhi was really sticking to the facts.

Shang Hexing, “You were the first to change the concept.”

“I was just making an analogy.”

“The speaker unwittingly strikes a chord with the listener.”

“…” Wen Zhi puffed up her cheeks and shifted a bit to the side, ignoring him.

Normally, Shang Hexing would reach out and pull her back in such situations.

But now, with Wen Zhi’s hands injured, he simply leaned over towards her.

Wen Zhi turned her face away to look out the car window: “Don’t get close to .”

“Weren’t we going to talk about Zhou Qin?” He gave her an out.

Eager to know about Zhou Qin, Wen Zhi imdiately took the out he provided and continued to ask, “Is Zhou Qin really the Zhou Family’s daughter?”

Shang Hexing said, “She is the daughter of the Zhou Family.”

Before Wen Zhi could ask further, Shang Hexing turned his head to tell her, “I can also make her not the Zhou Family’s daughter.”

Wen Zhi instantly fell silent.

It seed she understood.

Zhou Qin was sent back to the Zhou Family by Shang Hexing, and she indeed was the Zhou Family’s daughter. However, her return had been a difficult process, and for Zhou Qin, Shang Hexing must have been her benefactor.

But a benefactor is not necessarily a good person.

If Zhou Qin beca uncontrollable, Shang Hexing could easily make her leave the Zhou Family.

“Want to know anything else?” Shang Hexing asked her.

Wen Zhi blinked, a subtle expression on her face, “Then your third uncle…”

Shang Hexing, “He got what he deserved.”

Every word of “he got what he deserved” was spoken softly.

But the anger was profound.

Wen Zhi almost imdiately looked at Shang Hexing’s face, where anger was churning beneath his eyes.

Wen Zhi was shocked, she seldom saw re ntion of soone could anger him so.

“Why… do you hate him?” Wen Zhi asked.

“Hate?” Shang Hexing chuckled lightly.

Wen Zhi said, “It’s all in your eyes.”

Hate!

Shang Hexing reached out to pull Wen Zhi into his embrace, “The past is complex, not sothing that can be explained in a few words, but I will tell you about it in the future.”

How long the future was, Wen Zhi didn’t ask.

But she had already guessed the gist of it, perhaps it had sothing to do with the late Madam Han.

Wen Zhi followed Shang Hexing the entire afternoon.

He took her to two places, one was a brief eting at a tea house, the other a garden to enjoy the scenery.

As it approached five in the afternoon, Wen Zhi and Shang Hexing went to a restaurant for dinner, but it wasn’t a dinner for two, it was a banquet.

There were colleagues of Shang Hexing, as well as CEOs from other corporations.

These CEOs had initially planned to bring their kept mistresses to liven up the banquet, but after hearing in advance that the several leaders were bringing their wives or official girlfriends, they all gave up on the idea.

During the al, everyone discussed important matters and drank so wine. Wen Zhi silently played the role of an invisible person, eating her dish and occasionally exchanging a few words with one of the ladies.

After the dinner party ended, Shang Hexing got up and didn’t forget to hold Wen Zhi’s hand, nor to grab her handbag; this scene was noticed by a colleague’s wife, who turned around and got mad at her own husband: “Young love is still nice, the old couples don’t know how to take the initiative to carry soone’s bag.”

That colleague had a bitter smile on his face and then silently went to carry his wife’s handbag: “Is that good enough now?”

The wife jokingly scolded: “Perfunctory,” and then took her husband’s arm to say goodbye to everyone.

That lady was particularly fond of Wen Zhi; before leaving, she specifically made plans with Wen Zhi for a gathering. Although Wen Zhi wasn’t certain she would go, it was never wrong to agree first, so she accepted the invitation.

Shang Hexing glanced sideways at Wen Zhi who was waving goodbye to the lady, the smile on the corner of his lips deepening.

He said, “Let’s go too.”

Wen Zhi nodded.

The night had already fallen outside, with streetlights lighting up one after another, the colorful lights twinkling on the closely packed skyscrapers. The doorman outside the restaurant was thodically directing the parking vehicles.

Wherever the eye wandered, there was a vista of luxury cars.

A breeze ca through without a hint of coldness, but Wen Zhi caught a stronger scent of alcohol, emanating from Shang Hexing.

In the private room, perhaps because everyone was drinking, Wen Zhi hadn’t noticed the sll of alcohol on Shang Hexing.

But now, once outside, the alcohol fus seed so thick that they were nearly inescapable.

“How many drinks did you have?” Wen Zhi leaned in and asked in a very quiet voice.

Shang Hexing replied to her, “I can’t rember.”

Wen Zhi asked again, “So are you drunk?”

Shang Hexing said, “Probably a little.”

If he admitted to feeling tipsy, then it was probably as he said, a little. If he denied it, that’s when he would truly be drunk.

“Then let

support you a bit,” Wen Zhi offered, supporting him with her uninjured hand.

Shang Hexing chuckled: “That’s not necessary.”

Wen Zhi huffed softly, “Well, that’s yet to be seen.”

A dostic car approached the steps and stopped, with the window rolling down to reveal the face of a woman. It was the lady who had taken the ti to say goodbye to Wen Zhi earlier.

“Miss Wen Zhi, we’re leaving now, see you again~” the lady waved to Wen Zhi.

Wen Zhi also waved back: “See you again.”

As she watched the car drive away, Wen Zhi heard Shang Hexing’s voice. He said four words: “Victorious in every venture.”

Wen Zhi took it as him teasing her: “It’s not like I had a choice.”

Shang Hexing raised an eyebrow: “Explain?”

At this mont, Chen Jinhai drove up, got out of the car, opened the door for them, and then stood aside, waiting quietly.

Wen Zhi, supporting Shang Hexing’s arm and walking down the steps, lowered her voice and said, “Socializing is my weakest point.”

Shang Hexing: “I know.”

Wen Zhi muttered, “Knowing that, you still brought

to a dinner with so many people.”

She got into the car first, followed by Shang Hexing. Although it wasn’t cold outside, the inside of the car felt very warm.

“My fault for being eager to introduce you to everyone,” he added to what he had left unsaid before.

After he finished, he signaled Chen Jinhai to drive. Chen Jinhai hesitated for a few seconds with his hand on the steering wheel, still unsure: “Mr. Shang, are we heading back to Qionglou, or?”

Shang Hexing turned to Wen Zhi and asked her, “Back to Qionglou or sowhere else?”

Wen Zhi held her breath, softly saying, “Back to the Wen Family’s.”

Shang Hexing leaned closer, the alcohol fus from him spreading over, filling her nostrils. He hadn’t smoked tonight; there was only the sll of alcohol, which wasn’t unpleasant: “Don’t want to go to Qionglou?”

She wanted to go.

That was the answer in Wen Zhi’s heart. Her affections had been stirred long ago, but she had errands this evening and had to return to the Wen Family’s.

“How have you been settling in during your ti at Qionglou?” he asked her, trying to make conversation.

“I’ve settled in,” Wen Zhi truthfully replied to him.
