Su Xingyu listened in silence, lowered her head, and walked out of the elevator.
She stood in the bustling lobby on the first floor and made a call to Xie Jian: "Hello, Xie Jian, are you able to talk now?"
Xie Jian glanced at Lu Shifeng, who was busy in the office, and discreetly stepped out before saying to her, "Yes, Madam, do you need sothing?"
Su Xingyu said, "About Lu Shifeng asking Louise Li to take that underwater photography shot, you know about it, right?"
Xie Jian acknowledged, "Yes, I know. I’m handling the contact for this matter."
Su Xingyu breathed a sigh of relief, "That’s good. Xie Jian, go and tell Louise that she doesn’t need to co tomorrow. I will personally go underwater to take the photo."
Xie Jian was taken aback, "Madam? That’s very dangerous. Have you discussed this with the BOSS?"
Sure enough, Su Xingyu replied, "If Lu Shifeng agreed, would I need to find you? But, Xie Jian, you should understand better than how important this shoot is. Putting personal feelings aside, it’s more appropriate to use than Louise. I am the one most familiar with the new technology of these caras and the one most likely to maximize their performance."
Xie Jian frowned slightly, "Madam, I cannot betray the BOSS." Lu Shifeng’s orders were the only ones he needed to obey.
Su Xingyu said, "You’re not betraying him; you’re doing this for his benefit. I’ve just asked a professional diver through a friend, and they said that the water area where the deceased photographer got into trouble isn’t very challenging. Even beginners could dive after one or two days of practice. However, it might take Louise ten to fifteen days to master the technology of the new cara. Xie Jian, you’re one of Blade’s people. When your BOSS’s personal feelings cloud his judgnt, your duty is not blind loyalty but to help make the right decision."
"The BOSS will kill ," said Xie Jian.
Su Xingyu said, "The ancients have long said, ’To die earnestly in remonstrance, to die valiantly in battle.’"
Her tone was calm, as if talking about the most ordinary matter, yet it struck Xie Jian with shock. As an elite with a high education, Xie Jian naturally knew this old saying, implying that civil officials should not hesitate to die when advising their ruler, and military personnel should be honored to die on the battlefield.
To die earnestly in remonstrance—she was urging him to let go of fears about being punished by the BOSS.
Then, to die valiantly in battle...?
This ti going underwater, was she prepared to risk her life?
"Madam," Xie Jian’s voice deepened, "there has already been a photographer who died in the water; no one knows what’s underneath. We’ve suspected this is a setup by Su Jinnian and Ouyang Yi. If that’s the case, anyone going underwater next could also be in danger. The BOSS is not only concerned about the risks of diving; he’s also on guard against Su Jinnian and Ouyang Yi."
"Jinnian won’t do anything to ," Su Xingyu said. "If he really intends to target the photographer, then I am even the best choice."
"Madam," Xie Jian disagreed, "you never truly understand what lurks in people’s hearts. You don’t know how ruthless your brother can be or whether he values your sibling bond!"
"I know my brother," Su Xingyu said calmly. She couldn’t pinpoint where her certainty ca from, but perhaps it was a mysterious intuition of twins. Although she couldn’t control her brother’s actions, she was aware of his limits and knew he would never hurt her.
"Madam!" Xie Jian wanted to continue persuading her.
"It’s settled," Su Xingyu remained unyielding, "Xie Jian, you’d better call Louise now and tell her to cancel the trip. In 10 minutes, if I don’t hear from you, I’ll dive alone before you start your operation." She was resolute.
Xie Jian thought it over several tis before saying, "Alright, I’ll call Louise now."
After hanging up, Su Xingyu exhaled lightly and checked the ti on her wrist.
10:06 AM.
She left Blade Group Headquarters, hailed a taxi, and headed to the city’s most famous diving training base.
Before calling Xie Jian, she had indeed called her friend—Xia Ling. Although Xia Ling couldn’t dive herself, she had her manager Chu Chen contact the best diving instructor currently in S City for her, striving to train her to the level needed for taking the sunken ship photo underwater within two days.
Two days passed in a flash.
The second night, after finishing her training, she packed her diving gear and photography equipnt, rented a car, and drove to the large lake in the suburbs.
Lu Shifeng and his team planned to dive at midnight to recreate the photo shoot.
Why at midnight?
Because the photographer, aiming to capture the moonlight on the sunken ship, had dived in with companions at night. To truly recreate the scene, it also had to be at the sa ti for it to be convincing.
Su Xingyu arrived at the lake’s side in the rented car. As soon as she got out, she saw Lu Shifeng waiting with a few people nearby.
Upon seeing her, Lu Shifeng’s eyes were cold: "You’re truly reckless."
Though his words were harsh, there was not a hint of surprise in his expression.
Beside him, Xie Jian quietly lowered his head.
This loyal chief secretary to Lu Shifeng ultimately couldn’t resist his sense of loyalty, and also out of worry for Su Xingyu’s safety, he inford Lu Shifeng about it three hours before the photography officially comnced after persuading Louise to step down. Lu Shifeng was furious but had no alternative. Summoning Louise back from abroad in such a short ti was impossible. Missing tonight’s opportunity would an waiting another month for the sa full moon scene, and in the business world, a month could be decisive.
His sharp eyes coldly fixed on Su Xingyu as if he wanted to kill her.
Su Xingyu felt a bit uneasy under his gaze and silently encouraged herself, then t his gaze without flinching, "It’s just underwater photography, no big deal."
"Let Zhuang Heng go down," Lu Shifeng said.
Three hours were insufficient to call back Louise Li, but enough to summon Zhuang Heng, who was nearby in S City.
At this ti, Zhuang Heng approached Su Xingyu in a silver diving suit and said to her, "Su Xingyu, your photography skills aren’t as good as mine. Just rest on the shore; I’ll take the perfect photos."
Su Xingyu looked at the fully equipped Zhuang Heng, recalling the conversation she overheard in the elevator yesterday. Didn’t Lu Shifeng initially refuse Zhuang Heng to dive? Could it be that he specifically called Zhuang Heng to prevent her from going underwater? Feeling unsettled, she looked at Lu Shifeng, "She’s not as good as at photography. I’m going down."
