Su Xingyu said, "I don’t want to go."

Lu Shifeng said, "I don’t want to use my power to make you unable to establish yourself in the photography industry either."

Her body trembled again, on the verge of tears, eyes red as she glared at him angrily, "Don’t go too far!" She couldn’t help but recall how, shortly after marrying him, she defied his orders and looked for jobs everywhere, only to face setbacks at every turn...

She knew the extent of his power; there was nothing he couldn’t do.

Yet she was still unwilling to give in, whispering, "The Blade Group isn’t the only group in the world!"

"Which other group, Cloud?" Lu Shifeng’s eyes flashed with a hint of disdain, as if she had just told a ridiculous joke.

Su Xingyu fell silent. Yes, she originally wanted to say Cloud Group. How could Cloud Group, being so large, not contend against Blade? But the undisguised contempt in his eyes sent a chill down her spine, suddenly making her consider another possibility—what if Cloud Group truly couldn’t compare to Blade? After all, Cloud was just a fashion group; how could it compete with a defense contractor? Blade Group’s main business was defense. Although civilian caras were their most well-known product, they were insignificant in comparison.

She... had nowhere to run.

Unable to defy it, she had no choice but to report to Blade the next day.

It was still the sa vast and magnificent campus, so large that one could easily get lost. The black, white, and gray buildings had a dreamlike post-modern technology vibe, reaching toward the sky. She headed toward the largest main building, and the receptionist was very enthusiastic in directing her to the HR departnt upon learning she was there to start her employnt.

The HR director was a kind-hearted chubby man who greeted her with a smile, "Are you the young lady Mr. Yang ntioned? We’ve got all your employnt materials ready. Just sign the papers, and I’ll take you to et Mr. Yang."

In a confused state, she asked, "Who’s Mr. Yang?"

The HR director gave her a strange look—how odd that this young lady, who was introduced by Mr. Yang, didn’t even know who he was. He realized that she didn’t get in through the usual interview process, nor through Mr. Yang’s private connections—soone else must have put in a word to Mr. Yang, who recruited her on their behalf!

Who exactly is this girl?

Is she a relative of a business partner of Mr. Yang? Or a friend of a friend? Or soone with an even more undeniable background?

The HR director’s professional instinct fueled his curiosity, but he kept smiling, "Mr. Yang is Yang Wenyu, the vice president of the photography center. He oversees all the photographers."

Su Xingyu nodded and followed him to et Mr. Yang.

The photography center was located in another building near the main one, about ten stories high, housing various photography studios, equipnt rooms, and offices. The HR director brought her to knock on the deputy president’s office door, saying, "Mr. Yang, Su Xingyu is here."

The office was spacious, and at that mont, Mr. Yang was seated in a reception area, having tea with a woman; he turned upon hearing his na.

Su Xingyu obediently greeted, "Mr. Yang," her eyes landing on him and noting that he was in his early forties, slightly stout but well-grood, possessing the poise of soone accustod to power.

And the woman on the sofa across from him was Zhuang Heng.

Su Xingyu sighed inwardly, knowing well in advance that Zhuang Heng was Blade Group’s chief photographer, and it was inevitable they’d cross paths; yet encountering her on the very first, no, the very first hour of starting her job was not a pleasant experience.

On the other side, Zhuang Heng also saw her. A shadow of gloom passed over her well-grood eyes, and she elegantly lifted a teacup with a thin, veiled hand, taking a quiet sip.

Mr. Yang remained seated, nodding to Su Xingyu, "So you’re Su Xingyu? Welco."

Su Xingyu said, "Thank you, hello."

Mr. Yang nodded again, dialed his assistant, saying, "This is your new colleague, Su Xingyu. Anna, please show her around, settle her workspace, and rember to collect the equipnt from the storeroom."

"Yes." Anna, the girl, acknowledged, giving Su Xingyu a slight smile, "Follow ."

Su Xingyu followed Anna out. The HR director also excused himself, the office door shutting behind them, leaving only Mr. Yang and Zhuang Heng. Zhuang Heng continued sipping her tea, unhurried, asking Mr. Yang, "Mr. Yang, why did you recruit Su Xingyu?"

Given their good rapport, Mr. Yang was sowhat surprised, "Oh? You know her?"

Zhuang Heng nodded slightly, "I’ve helped her twice before, she..." She shook her head.

"What’s up?" Mr. Yang’s heart skipped a beat. "Did she offend you?"

"Not quite," Zhuang Heng smiled beautifully, "but she seems a little ungrateful. Who slipped her in?" She had clearly heard Mr. Yang say, "So you’re Su Xingyu?"—just like the HR director, she guessed that soone had slipped Su Xingyu in as Mr. Yang didn’t know her personally.

Mr. Yang had heard rumors that this eldest daughter of the Zhuang Family was bound to beco Lu Shifeng’s wife, essentially Blade Group’s lady. Naturally, he didn’t want to offend her, so he said, "It was Xie Jian who put in a word. He said Su Xingyu is a distant relative of his and asked to place her in the photography center."

Zhuang Heng’s eyes darkened further—Xie Jian?

Distant relative? If she hadn’t witnessed how Su Xingyu seduced Lu Shifeng, she’d believe such lies. But as it stood, it was clear Su Xingyu was Lu Shifeng’s woman, and Xie Jian’s actions were certainly at Lu Shifeng’s behest!

No one knew better than her how much Lu Shifeng valued Blade Group, nor how principled he was. He never pulled strings for anyone! Now, he actually broke the rule for Su Xingyu—it was... infuriating!

Unconsciously, she gripped the teacup tightly, knuckles whitening as if she wished to crush it.

Noticing her unusual expression, Mr. Yang felt troubled. Offending Miss Zhuang was unwise, yet it wasn’t wise to upset Xie, who had placed her here. Although Miss Zhuang was likely to beco the BOSS’s wife, Xie was currently the BOSS’s trusted aide! Offending him was as risky as crossing Miss Zhuang...

The consequences were dire.

Mr. Yang could only hope Zhuang Heng stayed rational, subtly hinting, "It’s Xie’s first ti putting soone into the company, so that girl must be important to him."

Zhuang Heng understood his hint and smiled again, "Rest assured, I won’t make things difficult for Xie’s people. Do I seem that petty?"

With those words, Mr. Yang breathed a sigh of relief. Indeed, Miss Zhuang, with her gentle and refined deanor, had a good reputation and rapport within the company, and she had never intentionally made things difficult for anyone.
