Chapter 34: Profession

From the perspective of ti alone, it had been less than half a month since I t with a car accident in my previous life and transmigrated to this world.

The adventurers I had truly interacted with in depth, those I could have a serious conversation with, were limited to the few people in front of and the hunter Maji from the Rotten Fish and Shrimp Team.

Thus, until this evening, despite noticing the unusual power of the combat skill [Whirlwind Slash] from Maji’s sudden change in attitude after I used it, as well as my performance in battles against various magical creatures along the way, I had only vaguely sensed its extraordinariness.

But from beginning to end, I had no clear understanding of where my strength stood in terms of level.

Looking back now, perhaps I should have stayed in town a few more days to see if I could find so channels to learn more relevant knowledge.

However…

The ti limit for the Fire Garlic Vine task was right there, and I clearly rembered their locations.

Those thirty-plus gold coins that were guaranteed to be mine—didn’t I have to secure them?

Fortunately, I t the half-elf and his group during the task and even joined their team as a temporary mber.

I seized the opportunity to absorb as much information as possible regarding my future developnt.

“So, what are the conditions for becoming a ‘professional’?”

In response, the half-elf raised three fingers.

“Three combat skills.”

Hai’an replied.

For the vast majority of basic professions in this world, as long as one could master three combat skills related to the profession and train one of them to “mastery,” they could complete the job advancent and gain a professional level.

“Of course, so profession systems require special conditions to assist in advancing to a basic profession, but those are extrely rare and hard to co by.”

“Combat skills related to the profession?” I committed the half-elf’s words to mory while pondering the information revealed in his speech.

“You an…”

“Exactly! The combat skills themselves must correspond to the profession.”

Hearing this, Hai’an nodded, took out his wooden longbow from behind, organized his thoughts, and slowly began to explain:

“For example, if I want to beco a ‘ranger’ in the future, I must first learn three combat skills belonging to the ‘ranger’ profession category and train one of them to the ‘mastery’ level.”

“What if soone possesses three combat skills from different professions?” I frowned slightly, puzzled.

“For instance, one combat skill from a warrior and the other two from a cleric.”

“Then nothing happens,” the half-elf said with a shrug. “Just like when you train a combat skill to ‘mastery,’ when you gain a professional level, you can clearly feel the changes in your body.”

“If the combat skills don’t match each other, even if you train all of them to the mastery level, you still won’t et the conditions for job advancent.”

“They’d just be three independent combat skills.”

At this point, the half-elf paused suddenly, hesitated for a mont, then continued slowly:

“Of course, if your luck is good enough… you might still gain a professional level, but what specific profession you’d get is uncertain.”

I carefully digested his words, remaining silent, signaling for the half-elf to continue.

Understanding what Hai’an ant but seeing him speak haltingly, as if unsure how to explain clearly, the guard Wood, sitting beside him, took over the conversation:

On the Ephara Continent, the most common professions are just a handful, such as “warrior,” “rogue,” “barbarian”…

But the fact that these basic professions are common doesn’t an they’re weak in strength.

Quite the opposite.

The reason they’re so widely distributed among adventurers across the continent is that these professions have the broadest applicability, the clearest advancent paths, and well-defined combat skill categories.

“As ntioned earlier, the number of combat skills in this world is as nurous as the stars in the sky.”

“And within the countless combinations ford by this vast number, while most produce no chemical reaction, there’s a tiny fraction that, despite seeming completely unrelated, sohow fit together strangely.”

“If soone’s luck is good enough to stumble upon such a combat skill combination…” Wood gently twirled the gleaming dagger in his hand, “then completing the job advancent isn’t impossible.”

“But what specific profession you’d get is uncertain.”

“Exactly!” Hearing Wood’s explanation, Hai’an nodded and added.

“But the number of combat skills under these rare profession categories is often limited, and the advanced professions available after entering the extraordinary phase are few, sotis with strict conditions that require gradual exploration.”

“Even if a complete profession system is built based on predecessors’ foundations, the ‘secret formulas’ for these combat skill combinations are often held by major organizations or hidden knowledge of certain powerful families.”

“For ordinary people like us, there’s no need to overthink it—just stick to the common basic professions.”

“After all, most of the ‘big shots’ active in the newspapers today also started with these basic professions, and their strength isn’t affected.”

I fully accepted the advice of these experienced individuals without resistance.

My predecessor ca from an ordinary family, completely unconnected to professionals; having just arrived in this world, my “golden finger” didn’t seem to help with profession selection either, only allowing to see the attributes of equipnt and items.

Choosing a common yet clearly defined profession like “warrior” or “rogue” seed, for now, to be my best option.

At the sa ti, I couldn’t help but feel excited.

Three combat skills,

Just three combat skills, and I could gain a professional level!

And with the help of my predecessor, I had already completed the most difficult step: “training one combat skill to mastery.”

This ant that I only needed to learn two more combat skills belonging to the sa profession as [Whirlwind Slash], even at just lv1, to beco, in the truest sense—

A professional!

I instinctively recalled the earlier battle against the rust monster, where Wood, as a professional, displayed a ghostly, agile, and overpowering stance.

My mouth felt dry, as if a beautiful future was already beckoning to .

I couldn’t help but ask further:

“What about combat skills? The [Adventurer’s Handbook] doesn’t ntion where to learn them.”

To this, Hai’an only grinned, his expression odd:

“Actually, there’s one place where it’s easiest and most convenient to learn all kinds of combat skills, and you’ve probably been there already.”

“Where!?”

“The Adventurer’s Guild.”
