Seven Sins System Chapter 496. Invisible Life Coaches?

I listened, intrigued despite myself. “So you’re like invisible life coaches?”

Puriel shot a glare, but it lacked her usual bite. “That’s a reductive way to put it, but… in so ways, yes. We’re there to guide. To help people find the light within themselves, to make the right choices without us forcing their hand or making our appearance.”

I snorted, shaking my head. “Sounds way too passive for . Why not just get in there and fix things? You could save a lot of ti if you just stepped in and made decisions for people.”

"Because that’s not our way," Puriel said, her tone a little sharper now. "We believe in free will. Mortals have to choose for themselves, even if they make mistakes. Forcing them down a path isn’t guidance—it’s control."

I leaned back, a smirk creeping onto my face as I crossed my arms. “Despite all that guidance, they still end up in my realm,” I said, my voice dripping with amusent. “Sounds pathetic, doesn’t it?”

Puriel shot a look, her eyes narrowing slightly in irritation.

My smirk only widened. “I’m just stating the facts. Down there is busier than up there, right? Correct if I’m wrong.”

She was silent for a mont, her eyes dropping as she sighed softly. “No, you’re right,” she admitted quietly, the frustration evident in her tone.

I raised an eyebrow, watching her closely. “Do you bla yourself for this?” I asked, genuinely curious. It wasn’t often that I saw Puriel like this.

She smiled, but it was a dry, bitter thing, more of a grimace than a real smile. “Yes,” she said softly, almost as if she hated admitting it. “I don’t understand what’s wrong with all of this. Why don’t mortals turn to us? Why do they choose the dark side?”

I chuckled, shaking my head. “Because the dark side offers them sothing you can’t,” I said smoothly. “Pleasure, joy… a simple way out without all the complicated rules. At least, that’s part of it.”

Puriel’s brow furrowed, her gaze locked on as if she was trying to decipher sothing. "And the other part?"

A wicked grin spread across my face, and I licked my lips, savoring the thought. “So mortals,” I began, my voice taking on a darker, more sinister tone, “are born as sinners. It’s in their blood, their instincts. Whether it’s because of their families, their environnt, or just survival, they crave chaos. And those souls… those are the tastiest.”

I watched her expression shift as I leaned forward slightly, my eyes gleaming with malice. “They struggle when I devour them. They act like they’re innocent, try to run from their responsibilities, bla everyone but themselves. They try to find a loophole in our twisted deals, thinking they can outsmart .” I chuckled darkly, my voice lowering to a nacing whisper. “But it always ends in failure.”

There was a mont of silence. My grin widening as I relished the mories of those souls—how they squird, how they begged, how they ultimately gave in. The thrill of watching them crumble, the power I felt knowing they were mine.

Puriel’s eyes never left mine, and for a mont, she seed to be studying , trying to understand the twisted pleasure I took in my work. “You seem to enjoy it,” she said quietly, her voice almost flat, though I could sense the disgust underlying her words.

I shrugged nonchalantly, still grinning. “Why wouldn’t I? It’s what I was born to do. It’s in my nature, Puriel. I’m a devil. I don’t feel guilt or remorse. I feed on sin and suffering, and I do it well.”

She looked away, her jaw tight, clearly struggling with what she was hearing. “And that’s where we differ,” she muttered, almost to herself. “You enjoy their downfall. I mourn it.”

I tilted my head, watching her reaction with interest. “Mourn it? That’s a waste of ti. They chose their path, didn’t they? It’s not like we’re dragging them down there. They co to us willingly.”

“They’re lost,” she said softly, her gaze distant as if she were looking beyond , into so unseen realm where the fates of mortals were being decided.

I could tell that sothing deeper was brewing in her mind, sothing more than the usual back-and-forth between us.

I leaned against the desk, watching her. “Believe ,” I said, my voice low, “once you see them, you know so of them deserve to end up down there. Well, most of them do, actually.” I flashed an evil grin, the wickedness clear on my face. “They’re already twisted long before they reach my realm. It’s not like they need much help.”

Puriel fell silent again, her eyes resting on , but there was no judgnt this ti—just contemplation. After a long pause, she finally spoke, her voice quieter than before. “You know… when you’re in your human form, sotis I forget that you’re the Lord of Wrath. But you always find a way to remind .”

I raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on my lips. “Thank you,” I said, giving her a mock bow. “I do my best.”

She sighed, looking away for a mont. Then, with a sudden shift, she turned back to , her expression serious, almost determined. “I have an idea,” she said.

I frowned, surprised by the sudden shift. “An idea?” I echoed, not quite sure where this was going. Puriel wasn’t exactly the type to spring sudden ideas on .

“Yes, an idea,” she repeated, turning fully toward now, her face set in a way that told she wasn’t joking.

I leaned in, curious despite myself. “Alright, I’m listening. What’s your idea?”

She didn’t hesitate. “You said your realm is crowded, that you have more work than you can handle, right? And if mortals continue to sin at this rate, the Shadow Realm might eventually beco overpopulated.”

I blinked, taken aback by the direction this conversation was going. I had expected her to co up with so new thod to thwart or a lecture about the moral failings of my domain, but this? I hadn’t anticipated this.
