Seven Sins System Chapter 448. I'm Not A Distant Ruler

I touched her chin, gently lifting her face so our eyes t. My thumb grazed over her lips, wiping away the last trace of blood.

A satisfied smile spread across my face.

“That’s a devil’s blood for you,” I said in a teasing tone, my voice low and playful.

Red’s eyes sparkled with delight, and a contented smile played on her lips. Seeing her so satisfied brought a sense of fulfillnt.

“You’re right,” she murmured, her voice soft but clear.

Her satisfaction was a gift to . Yet, even in this mont of closeness, I couldn’t help but notice the formality in her deanor.

She still saw as the sa lord she had served so long ago, the one who had been more hot-headed and rigid.

I sighed softly, my fingers still gently tracing the contours of her face. “You know, Red, you don’t always have to be so formal with .”

She blinked, a flicker of confusion crossing her face. “But, my Lord, you’ve always been…”

I cut her off with a gentle shake of my head. “I’ve changed, Red. We’re not in the war anymore, and tis have changed. You don’t need to treat like a distant ruler.”

She looked at , her eyes searching mine for a mont before she nodded slowly. “I understand, my Lord. It’s just… hard to break old habits.”

I smiled, my thumb brushing her cheek. “I know. But I want you to feel comfortable with .”

A soft blush spread across her cheeks, and she lowered her gaze for a mont before looking back up at . “Thank you. I’ll try.”

I thought that after this mont of intimacy, Red would excuse herself to carry out my orders, but then she did sothing I didn't expect. She curled up in my lap, just like she used to do in the past. Her movents were fluid and familiar. She rested her head on my shoulder, her breath warm against my neck.

I felt a rush of conflicting emotions. On one hand, there was a deep sense of nostalgia and comfort in having her close.

On the other hand, this was awkward. I was not in my true form. Here, I was just a re combat doctor, working at a battle academy's infirmary. And Red, she was the owner of this place, no longer a teenager but a full-grown woman. Okay, vampire.

The dynamic between us had shifted, and this act of closeness felt strangely out of place.

I cleared my throat, trying to maintain so semblance of composure. "Red," I began, my voice gentle but firm. "My orders," I reminded her.

Red blinked, as if coming out of a daze, and imdiately stood up, a look of realization crossing her face. "I'm sorry, my Lord," she said, bowing her head. "I got carried away."

I gave her a small, reassuring smile. "It's alright. Just rember, things are different here."

She nodded, her cheeks flushing slightly with embarrassnt. "Yes, my Lord."

As she turned to leave, I stopped her with a gentle touch on her arm. "Red, one more thing. Tonight, I'll bind you to . et in my room."

Her eyes widened, and she blushed deeper, a smile spreading across her face. "Yes, my Lord," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll be there."

I could see the smile tugging at her lips. The academy's ring bell sounded then, indicating it was break ti.

Red straightened her clothes, giving one last respectful bow before excusing herself. “I will carry out your orders, my Lord,” she said with determination, her earlier embarrassnt replaced by a sense of purpose.

I watched her leave, her steps brisk and confident. The door closed behind her, and the room fell into a contemplative silence. I leaned back in my chair, letting out a slow breath.

But sohow, instead of Red, my mind drifted back to Puriel. Despite my best efforts to push her out of my thoughts, she lingered there. Realizing this, I imdiately shook my head and tried to throw the thoughts away.

“Hey, I’m getting a new servant,” I reminded myself, trying to inject so enthusiasm into my voice. “A new trusted and reliable servant,” I shouted the words to myself, hoping to cheer myself up. “I should be happy with that.”

Yet, despite my efforts, sothing remained stuck inside . A gnawing sense of unease, like an itch I couldn’t scratch.

Was it disappointnt?

Perhaps.

Maybe it was also the faint hope I had harbored that Puriel would understand my realm’s culture, that she would see the world from my perspective and that our relationship might work despite the odds. The thread of fate had made wonder if we were truly destined to be partners.

Our argunt had shattered that hope. Her disdain for my ways, her inability to see beyond her own moral frawork, had cut deeper than I wanted to admit. I had hoped that we could act like true fateful partners, understanding and supporting each other despite our differences. But the reality was harsh. Our relationship didn’t work and probably never would.

I understood, logically, that forcing my realm’s culture on her was as wrong as expecting her to fully embrace it. She was a product of her own world, just as I was of mine. Her principles, her beliefs, were deeply ingrained, and asking her to change them was unfair. But knowing that didn’t make the disappointnt any easier to bear.

I sighed. The thread of fate that bound to Puriel was supposed to signify a deeper connection, a destined partnership. But it felt more like a shackle. How could we ever hope to bridge such a divide?

Despite everything, there was a part of that didn’t want to give up. A part of that still hoped for so form of understanding, so way to make our partnership work. But hope was a fragile thing, I didn’t want to cling to it too much.
