Seven Sins System Chapter 397. Red Demons

"It's the red demons," whispered one of the thugs to his friend in admiration, their voices barely audible.

"Yeah, they are so cool," chid in another.

“I wish I could be like them one day,” echoed a third, their words tinged with a hint of envy.

Here they were, aspiring to be like the very entities they had captured and restrained. It was a strange twist of fate.

The thugs' admiration for the so-called "red demons" sounded bizarre to , to say the least.

Sure, these guys had so swagger, but at the end of the day, they were just regular mortals like the rest of them. It was kind of laughable, really. Mortals pretending to be demons sound funny and stupid to . Why did they want so hard to beco one of us when we were literally different types of creatures?

I couldn't help but roll my eyes internally. I understood the appeal. Those guys had a certain aura about them, a sense of power and authority that the thugs obviously coveted. But, it was not like they were actually demons or anything. They were just a bunch of dudes playing dress-up, trying to look tough.

Still... I had to admit, those did look pretty sleek, especially compared to the cheap ones the thugs were wearing. It was clear that these masks were sothing special, not your run-of-the-mill costu shop fare.

The van door swung open. These guards were a different breed altogether. They approached. It was clear that they were here to take us, but their deanor was markedly different from that of the thugs. Their movents were precise, thodical, and strangely comforting.

One guard stepped forward. With practiced ease, they lifted out of the van, their movents synchronized as they carefully supported my body.

Yes! At last, equality!

We made our way through the maze-like corridor.

Gone was their bravado and tough-guy attitude from the abandoned warehouse. Instead, they trailed behind us like lost puppies, their eyes wide with wonder as they took in their surroundings.

The corridor stretched out before us, its walls lined with doors that led to who-knows-where. So were open, revealing rooms filled with unknown equipnt. Others remained closed.

Construction paraphernalia littered the floor, with ladders propped up against walls and paint cans scattered about. It was clear that this place was still a work in progress, with unfinished electrical installations visible on the exposed platforms above.

But despite the chaotic appearance, there was an undeniable sense of orderliness to the scene. Unlike the abandoned warehouse we'd been in earlier, this place was clean and well-maintained. There was no rubbish strewn about, no rats scurrying in the shadows, and certainly no skeletons lurking in the corners.

We approached the elevator. I noticed its imposing presence. Unlike the sleek, modern elevators I'd find in a typical office building, this one resembled more of a freight elevator. Its doors were heavy and industrial-looking, with no buttons or control panel in sight.

Instead, there was a small scanner mounted on the side of the elevator. It was clear that access to this elevator was restricted, and only those with the proper authorization could use it. I watched as one of the masked red soldiers stepped forward, pressing his finger against the scanner. A soft beep echoed through the corridor, and with a chanical whir, the doors slid open.

We filed into the elevator, the thugs following closely behind us. Surprisingly, the elevator was spacious, with enough room to accommodate all of us comfortably. It was clear that this elevator was designed to transport large groups of people.

The doors closed behind us and the elevator began to ascend, its movent smooth and steady. Also, one thing that caught my attention was the dark crystals wielded by those red demon guys.

It was hard not to notice them, especially when they seed to emit a stronger aura than the ones I had encountered before. If I were to compare them, it was like the thugs' crystals were re firecrackers while the ones the masked individuals possessed were like dynamite sticks ready to explode.

The difference in power was staggering. While the thugs' crystals could muster the strength of maybe five to ten pathetic low-level demons, the ones the masked figures wielded seed to have the power of fifty or more.

Not only were their crystals stronger, but the individuals themselves exuded a sense of authority and power that the thugs sorely lacked.

If the thugs were like novices stumbling through their training, then these masked figures were seasoned veterans, with levels ranging from forty to fifty.

I guessed Gem should be in their ranks or sothing. But Gem was a wildcard and he wasn’t one of them, even among his own kind. He operated on his own agenda, and it seed that even the masked figures didn't fully trust him as he tried to build his own division. It was as if he danced to the beat of his own drum. Still, he had given his loyalty to the great leader.

Sadly, despite my best efforts to glean information from Gem's mind, I ca up empty-handed. It was like trying to catch smoke with bare hands. But one thing was for sure, there was more to this cult than t the eye.
