Seven Sins System Chapter 393. Defense chanism
I gave her a dry smile, the kind that says, "Yeah, I know what's up, but I'm not about to spill the beans unless you really want to." It was a mont of irritation mixed with amusent.
"Do you seriously want to be honest or would you rather pretend I don't know and say nothing about it?" I asked, my tone laced with annoyance. It was a rhetorical question, really. Of course, she wanted the truth, but sotis the truth was a bit too much to handle. "You're sitting on my core, so I can feel it," I added, not bothering to beat around the bush.
Her reaction was priceless. She shifted away from as if my very presence was causing her discomfort. "This is because of your stupid manhood," she grumbled, clearly flustered. I couldn't help but chuckle inwardly at her embarrassnt. It was endearing in a way, seeing the goddess of chastity lose her composure like this.
But just as quickly as her embarrassnt showed, she masked it with a veil of stoicism. She lowered her head and turned away, refusing to et my gaze. It was a defense chanism, I realized.
I sat down and turned to her. "You expect my body won't react to that?" I questioned. It seed like a logical point to make, but logic didn't always seem to apply in situations like these. I let out a scoff. "I will snatch your title if I can do it," I added.
She responded with a sneer, her gaze eting mine with a hint of defiance. "So much talk," she muttered, her voice laced with disdain.
I shook my head. "Put that aside," I insisted, my tone shifting to one of seriousness. "What do you want to do to them?" I asked, casting a wary glance around.
Her response was unexpected. "I want to purify them," she declared, her voice firm and resolute. "Their thoughts, to be precise." It was a noble sentint, but it also raised practical concerns. "But if I do," she continued, "they might turn around and won’t take us to their leader."
I frowned. "So you don't know what you want to do?" I clarified.
She let out a long sigh, her shoulders slumping in defeat. "No," she admitted.
“Right. I can curse them then,” I declared casually, the idea of unleashing my devilish powers on those kidnappers already forming in my mind. I was ready to teach them a lesson they wouldn't soon forget. My fingers hovered over each other, ready to snap and cast the curse, but before I could, she intervened.
Her hand reached out and grabbed mine, halting my movent. “Wait! You can't,” she interjected firmly.
I furrowed my brow, my confusion evident. “Why? They are literally trying to rape you,” I reminded her. It seed like a no-brainer to —if anyone deserved a taste of my wrath, it was those vile individuals.
“Yes, but that's because the cult has brainwashed them,” she countered. “It's also possible that those dark crystals have influenced the way they think.”
My jaw dropped as I realized where this conversation was headed. "So you wanted to forgive them?" I asked, my tone incredulous. "I an, I understood the brainwashed part, but were you sure you wanted to just forgive them? You did realize what they'd done to their previous victims, right?" I emphasized, hoping to make her reconsider.
I got it, she was a goddess, and forgiveness was kind of her thing, but there had to be so accountability for what those criminals had done. "Forgiving such heinous sins just didn't sit right with ," I added. It felt wrong to simply brush aside the atrocities they had committed, especially considering the impact it had on their victims.
Sure, the brainwashing played a significant role in their actions, but it didn't excuse the harm they had caused. Forgiving them without any consequences would have sent the wrong ssage—it would have suggested that they could get away with anything as long as they were under so kind of influence. That wasn't a lesson I was willing to endorse.
I shifted uncomfortably. "Didn't you think they should face so kind of punishnt?" I asked, hoping to provoke so thought on her part. "I an, what they did was unforgivable, right?"
She pressed her lips together for a mont, contemplating her next words carefully. “You have sothing more ta than that, right? Like alter their mory?” she suggested tentatively.
I couldn't help but give her a skeptical look. "They want to harm you, and you're suggesting I just hypnotize them?" I exclaid. I shook my head in disbelief.
Sure, altering their mory might prevent them from acting on their harmful intentions, but it felt like a Band-Aid solution to a much deeper problem. These guys needed to face the consequences of their actions, not just have their mories wiped clean as if nothing happened.
