Seven Sins System Chapter 377. Do I Need To Pay You For That?

I heard sothing strange, a sound I couldn't quite place. "Huh?" I mumbled to myself, looking around, trying to figure out where it ca from. It didn't sound familiar, and it felt… off, like it didn't belong.

I quickly tuned into my senses, trying to get a better idea of what it was. Was it a rat scurrying around? Or worse, could it be the kidnappers sneaking around?

I scanned the kidnappers with my spy tentacle, but everything seed normal. The kidnappers were still huddled in their corner, their voices just a ss of muffled words. So, it wasn't them… What the hell was it?

'Could it be a rat? Or just the wind?' I thought, feeling a bit confused. But there wasn't any wind, and it didn't sound like a mouse either. What the hell was going on?

I glanced at Puriel, eyebrow raised. "Did you hear that?" I asked, curious if she noticed it too.

Before she could answer, though, another sound answered my question.

- Crutch--- Crutch--- Crutch

I blinked in surprise, and then I realized—it was coming from Puriel. A low, rumbling sound, like her stomach was trying to eat itself. It was the unmistakable sound of hunger.

We both froze. Neither of us said anything at first.

Normally, I would've cracked a joke or teased her about it, but the weird vibe in the air and her face, all tense and quiet, made it feel wrong. It was like a shadow of her sad expression from earlier had flashed through my mind, the one where she'd looked hurt when I pressed her about her feelings for . I wasn't sure what to do with that.

I cleared my throat, trying to shake off the awkwardness. "Hey, uh… I'm kinda hungry. How about we get sothing to eat?" I offered, not sure if it was the right thing to say but just trying to make things feel a bit less heavy.

It felt so weird to be nice like this. Usually, I'd be cracking jokes or making fun of her for being all serious, but this felt different. I didn't want to go back to being an ass when I could maybe do sothing right for once.

"I'll treat you," I said with a small smile, trying to keep it light. "Got my wallet on , so we're good," I added, half-laughing at the ridiculousness of it all. , offering food to soone I spent years ssing with? It felt absurd, but there I was.

"I an," I added quickly, "those goons probably took it, but I'll get it back." I said it in a rush, trying to reassure her, and maybe myself too. I wasn't ready to let that go. Still, the words felt odd slipping out of my mouth. Who was I, suddenly being all nice and trying to act like I cared?

Puriel didn't say anything at first. For a mont, I thought she was going to shut down with one of her usual sharp remarks. And honestly, I wouldn't have blad her. It was strange, and I couldn't help but feel like she probably thought there was so catch. It wasn't every day a devil offered to be nice without trying to screw soone over, right?

But then she surprised . Instead of brushing off, she spoke up in this low, hesitant voice. "Do I need to pay you for that?" she asked, almost shyly.

I blinked, totally caught off guard by her question. "No," I said quickly, shaking my head. "It's on ." There was no way I was going to make her pay. It felt weird enough already.

"Do you want sothing specific?" I asked, trying to make this feel less awkward, though I knew it wasn't working. "I can get you anything, as long as it's still in my budget," I added, trying to make it sound more casual. Honestly, I just wanted to avoid any more weird silences.

Puriel's response was quiet, almost a whisper. "No. You choose."

I paused, kind of surprised. "Okay. Give a minute," I said, grateful for the chance to focus on sothing else. The tension between us was starting to feel suffocating, and I needed a break from it.

I extended my four tentacles, the black, snaking out from my fingers. One of them morphed into a cockroach. The little roach fluttered its wings quietly before flying off towards the CCTV cara in the corner.

It zood toward the cara, doing its best to stay out of sight, and within seconds, it had positioned itself just right. The cara lens was now totally blocked, and I felt the pressure lift just a little. At least now, we had a bit of privacy, away from prying eyes.
