Seven Beautiful Goddesses Want Me, But I Just Want My Revenge Chapter 30: Facing the Chimera 1
Adrian and Lilith left the village behind as they followed the source of the growl deeper into the mountains. The path grew steeper, the rocks jagged and unforgiving beneath their
The air grew colder, the wind whipping around them as if trying to push them back.
Lilith stayed close to Adrian's side, her usual teasing deanor replaced by a focused intensity. They both knew what was at stake, and there was no room for error.
The growls grew louder, more frequent, and the ground continued to shake with each one. It was as if the very earth was warning them of the danger ahead, urging them to turn back.
But Adrian and Lilith pressed on.
Finally, they reached a clearing in the mountains, the ground scarred by deep gouges and scorch marks.
The air was thick with the scent of sulfur, and the shadows seed to dance with an unnatural life of their own.
"There," Adrian whispered, pointing to a dark cave entrance at the far end of the clearing. "That must be its lair."
Lilith nodded, her grip tightening on her daggers.
As they approached the cave, a deafening roar ripped through the air, the force of it sending a shockwave that nearly knocked them off their feet. Adrian raised his sword, bracing himself for whatever ca next.
And then, the Chira erged.
It was unlike anything they had ever seen, its body a twisted combination of a lion, a goat, and a snake. Its eyes burned with an unnatural red fire, and its fangs dripped with venom.
It let out another roar, the sound sending shivers down their spines as it began to circle them.
It was exactly as they had heard.
The Chira's lion eyes glowed, its teeth and claws sharpened to the point of being deadly. Its fur was a dark brown, almost black, and it stood at least twice their height. Its goat legs were muscular, hooves digging into the dirt as it prowled.
A low growl rumbled from the creature's throat as it moved closer, its reptilian tail lashing out as if searching for a weak spot.
Then before Adrian could react, Lilith pushed him the other direction. "Dive!!!" she scread as the beast spat out fire.
Adrian's instincts kicked in, and he dived out of the way just in ti.
"Shit!" he yelled. "This thing's not playing around!"
Lilith rolled, managing to avoid the flas.
She sprang to her feet and charged at the creature, daggers drawn and ready.
The Chira lunged forward, its razor-sharp claws swiping at Lilith.
She ducked and weaved, avoiding its attacks as best she could.
"Lust or not, she's skilled," Adrian thought to himself, his grip on his sword tightening as he rushed to join her.
Lilith and Adrian exchanged a glance, knowing that the battle had begun.
"Any plans?" He asked her.
"You were supposed to co up with the plans. I told you all I know," Lilith retorted.
"You didn't tell how powerful it is. What do you want to do, cut it open with my bare hands?" Adrian shot back.
"I've heard that works. But you'll need a big sword. You're welco to try," Lilith said, a sarcastic smile on her lips.
Adrian was about to argue, but the beast was approaching, its red eyes blazing with fury.
"It's ti to see what you're really made of," Adrian thought to himself.
The Chira snarled, its three heads weaving in the air as it sized up Adrian and Lilith.
The lion's head bared its fangs, a low growl reverberating through the clearing. The goat head twisted and turned, its cold eyes locking onto Adrian, while the serpent tail flicked nacingly, its forked tongue tasting the air.
Adrian extended his arms, summoning his fiery chains. They burst forth from his back like living serpents, each one crackling with intense heat.
The chains glowed with an otherworldly light as they whipped through the air, ready to strike.
Lilith, anwhile, moved with her twin daggers glinting in the dim light. She darted forward, aiming for the Chira's legs, hoping to slow its movents.
Her blades sliced through the air, but as they struck the creature's hide, they rely glanced off, the sound of tal scraping against sothing unnervingly hard filling the air.
"Damn it!" Lilith hissed, her eyes narrowing as she leaped back, narrowly avoiding a swipe from the lion's massive paw.
"It's skin is like iron!" Adrian shouted, his chains lashing out to wrap around the Chira's middle.
The beast roared in fury as the fiery chains tightened around its torso, but even they struggled to penetrate the creature's impenetrable hide.
The Chira twisted violently, its strength almost overwhelming as it yanked Adrian off his feet.
He was sent flying through the air, but with quick reflexes, he shot his chains toward the cave's ceiling, the fiery links embedding themselves in the stone.
He swung himself back down, aiming to land on the Chira's back, but the serpent tail reared up, hissing as it lunged at him with a deadly speed.
"Watch out!" Lilith cried, her eyes wide as she saw the tail strike.
Adrian twisted his body midair, barely avoiding the serpent's fangs as he landed on the Chira's back. He drove his sword down, aiming for the base of the goat's head, but the blade skidded off the beast's hide, unable to find a mark.
"Not even a scratch," Adrian muttered, frustration gnawing at him.
The Chira bucked wildly, trying to throw him off, but he held on tight, using his chains to anchor himself.
Lilith, seeing that her daggers were ineffective, stepped back and summoned a weapon more suited to the task.
A bow appeared in her hands, pulsing with raw energy. With a quick motion, she nocked an arrow, the tip glowing with a brilliant amber light.
"Let's see how you like this," Lilith muttered, drawing the string back and aiming for the Chira's heart.
She released the arrow, and it shot forward with blinding speed, a streak of pure energy that struck the Chira square in the chest.
There was a loud explosion as the arrow made contact, a burst of light and heat that sent shockwaves through the clearing.
The Chira roared in pain, the force of the impact staggering it, but when the dust cleared, the creature still stood, its hide smoking but unbroken.
"Are you kidding ?" Lilith exclaid, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Forget the heart!" Adrian shouted, his mind racing as he fought to stay on the creature's back. "Aim for the throat of the goat head! That's its only weak spot!"
