"What are your orders, Adrian?" Eris repeated, her voice calm despite the chaos around them.

Adrian scanned the battlefield, his sharp eyes picking apart the threads of the Shadow Court's strategy. The city's defenses were holding, but just barely.

The soldiers of Zarpha were growing weary, their formations buckling under the relentless advance of shadow creatures and summoners.

"dea, Lilith," Adrian barked, pointing toward the eastern gate where the defenses were weakest. "The summoners are sending nightmare beasts through the breach. I need you to deal with them before they overwhelm us."

Lilith smirked, her crimson whip coiling lazily in her hand. "Nightmare beasts? Sounds like my kind of party."

dea rolled her eyes, black flas flickering at her fingertips. "Just stay out of my way."

The two goddesses set off, their forms a blur as they sprinted toward the eastern gate. Adrian turned back to Eris and the others. "The rest of you, with . We're reinforcing the front lines."

At the eastern gate, there was complete chaos. Nightmare beasts—grotesque creatures with fiery eyes and teeth like jagged glass—poured through the breach in the wall, their snarls echoing across the battlefield.

Behind them, summoners clad in dark robes chanted in unison, their hands weaving intricate sigils that birthed more monstrosities.

Lilith and dea arrived on the scene just as a massive beast lunged at a group of Zarpha's defenders. Its claws sliced through a soldier's shield like paper, sending the man sprawling.

"Lovely," Lilith drawled, her whip snapping out to ensnare the creature's legs. "Do they always bring this much charm to the battlefield?"

dea didn't respond imdiately.

Her eyes were fixed on the summoners in the distance, her black flas flaring brighter with each passing second. "If we don't take out those summoners, this will never end."

"Are you going to fight, or just stand there making jokes?" dea snapped sharply.

Lilith grinned, unfazed. "Relax, princess. I've got this."

Her whip lashed out again, wrapping around the neck of the nightmare beast.

With a sharp tug, she brought the creature crashing to the ground. Before it could recover, she stepped forward, her crimson weapon slicing cleanly through its throat.

"That's one," Lilith said breezily, turning to face dea. "Your turn."

dea stepped forward, her hands raised as a torrent of black fire erupted from her palms. The flas roared across the battlefield, consuming a cluster of nightmare beasts in an instant. Their agonized howls were cut short as their bodies disintegrated into ash.

"Efficient enough for you?" dea asked, her crimson eyes narrowing at Lilith.

"Not bad," Lilith admitted, her tone laced with mockery. "For soone who looks like they haven't slept in a century."

dea's flas flared dangerously. "At least I don't waste ti with theatrics."

As if to prove her point, she hurled another wave of fire at the summoners. The dark-robed figures scattered, their chants faltering as the flas engulfed their ranks.

Lilith rolled her eyes. "You're no fun."

Their argunt was cut short as the ground beneath them trembled. A massive shadow beast, twice the size of the others, erged from the breach. Its form was cloaked in swirling darkness, and its glowing red eyes locked onto the two goddesses with predatory intent.

"Well, that's new," Lilith said, her usual sarcasm replaced by a hint of wariness.

The beast let out an ear-splitting roar and charged. Its claws tore through the ground as it barreled toward them, its speed belying its massive size.

"Stay out of my way!" dea shouted, her black flas surging toward the creature.

The beast plowed through the fire, erging unscathed as it lunged at dea. She barely had ti to leap aside, the creature's claws slicing through the space where she had stood monts before.

Lilith's whip snapped out, wrapping around the beast's hind leg. She pulled with all her strength, dragging it off balance. "Gotcha!"

The beast snarled, its massive tail lashing out and striking Lilith with enough force to send her sprawling.

dea was on her feet in an instant, her flas crackling with renewed intensity. "Distract it!" she shouted to Lilith.

Lilith groaned as she pushed herself up, her whip already coiling in her hand. "You owe for this."

She darted around the beast, her movents fluid and deliberate. Her whip lashed out, striking the creature's face and drawing its attention away from dea. The beast roared, lunging at Lilith with its massive claws.

"Co on, big guy," Lilith taunted, dodging its attacks with practiced ease. "You'll have to do better than that."

While the beast was distracted, dea gathered her flas into a concentrated orb. The black fire pulsed in her hands, growing brighter and more unstable with each passing second.

"Lilith, move!" dea shouted.

Lilith leapt aside just as dea hurled the orb at the beast. The flas struck its chest with a deafening explosion, engulfing the creature in a blinding inferno.

When the flas cleared, the beast was nothing more than a smoldering heap.

dea approached the remains of the beast, her expression triumphant. "Not bad for a shadow mistress," she said grudgingly, glancing at Lilith.

Lilith grinned, brushing ash off her shoulder. "And you're not half bad yourself, fla queen."

The two shared a brief, mutual nod before turning their attention back to the battlefield.

"There are still summoners out there," dea said, her flas flickering to life once more.

"Then let's finish the job," Lilith replied, her whip snapping in anticipation.

Together, they charged into the fray, their combined strength carving a path of destruction through the Shadow Court's forces.

*****************

The eastern wall trembled under the relentless barrage of shadow arrows and magical projectiles. From the breaches in the stone, soldiers of Zarpha fought tooth and nail to hold their ground against the onslaught.

Above them, dark skies were filled with streaks of purple flas and flashes of bright light, making the battlefield a chaotic scene of destruction.

Ava stood tall amidst the chaos, her staff glowing with golden brilliance. Her shields shimred, an impenetrable wall of light that absorbed the hail of shadow arrows before shattering them into harmless sparks.

"I could do this all day!" Ava quipped, though her voice was tinged with exhaustion. Sweat beaded on her brow, trickling down her temples as her concentration remained unbroken.

Behind her, Hestia leaned lazily against a fractured parapet, her blue flas flickering faintly at her fingertips. She yawned, her marine-blue eyes half-lidded as though the battle was an afterthought.

"Must be nice to be so enthusiastic," Hestia drawled, waving a hand absentmindedly. A burst of blue fire shot toward an advancing line of shadow soldiers, scattering them like leaves.

"Hestia," Ava chided, blocking a particularly powerful magical projectile with a surge of light from her staff. "Could you maybe put in a little more effort?"

"I'm here, aren't I?" Hestia replied with a smirk, shifting slightly to avoid a stray arrow. "Besides, you've got it handled. Why ruin your streak?"

Ava groaned, her shields flaring to block another volley. "This isn't a ga. If we lose this wall, the city falls!"

Hestia sighed dramatically, rolling her shoulders as she straightened. "Fine, fine. I'll try not to let you do all the work."

************

The enemy's archers moved forward in organized groups, their arrows shining with a dark purple color as they shot toward the defenders. Hestia conjured a small burst of fire to incinerate one arrow but hesitated when another ca dangerously close to an ally.

"What if I burn them too?" she muttered in a low and uncertain voice.

Ava glanced back at her, her amber eyes sharp with determination. "Trust yourself, Hestia. You're stronger than you think. We've got your back."

Hestia bit her lip, her fingers curling tightly as the blue flas at her fingertips grew brighter. She glanced at the soldiers around her, their faces a mix of fear and hope, and took a deep breath.

"Alright," she said softly.

Hestia stepped forward, raising her hands. The blue fire that flickered faintly before now roared to life, engulfing her arms in a torrent of heat and light.

With a fierce cry, she hurled the flas into the sky, creating a massive wall of fire that stretched across the entire eastern front.

The blue inferno burned through the air, incinerating the shadow arrows mid-flight and forcing the enemy archers to retreat. The soldiers of Zarpha cheered as the oppressive hail of projectiles montarily ceased.

"That's more like it!" Ava shouted, her voice filled with encouragent.

The respite was short-lived. The enemy regrouped quickly, their summoners conjuring barriers to shield the archers as they prepared another volley.

"Not so fast," Ava murmured.

She raised her staff, channeling a beam of concentrated light toward the archers.

The golden energy ricocheted off the enemy's magical barriers, bouncing unpredictably before striking its targets. The shadow archers fell in rapid succession, their formation collapsing under the precision strikes.

Hestia grinned, her confidence growing. "You're not the only one who can play with fire."
