Zeph’s POV
The rope went flying and one of its heads was entangled in it. Xin Li quickly tightened it so he won’t get loose. We rushed forward to aid him. Xin Li was about a distance of 7 ters from it. But, the monster wasn’t going to give in so easily. lt opened its free mouth and threw sothing like acid at Xin Li.
All of us scread since Xin Li was wearing his protective armour and special gloves necessary to handle that rope. The acid attack didn’t burn his body but the right side of his face ca in contact with the acid and he winced in pain.
I took off my shirt wrapped my hands in it and took the rope from Xin Li. The guy with the leg injury took hold of Xin Li from under his arms and dragged him away from the monster.
The monster was shrieking loudly. Ralph and the other guy took out their Kunei knives and started throwing them at him. One of the Kunei hit him in the eye and it went berserk. I couldn’t hold on to the rope anymore and it sent flying in the air.
I landed on the soft soil around the bank of the lake. The poison had seed to start working because his head had stopped moving and was limping on the side. To our shock, it reached with its limbs and yanked its head off and threw it to a side. It was clever and wanted to stop its whole body from becoming paralysed. The rope had fallen off. It ca straight at with its four limbs stretched. I pulled out my sword and faced him.
My sword was gleaming as if it had a light of its own. As it tried to grab with its right limb I flung my sword and sent its limb flying. It shrieked but didn’t back down. anwhile, Ralph retrieved the rope. The monster then brought all its limbs together to scoop up. I tried to swing at all of them but I wasn’t fast enough and it picked up by my waist and snatched my sword with the other limb and threw it to the side.
Ralph couldn’t throw the rope now as it would get entangled with as well. It was moving towards its head to either eat or throw that sa acid. I knew it was a perfect ti. I retrieved the sleeping powder from my pocket and emptied the small sack right on its face. It blinded it for a second and let lose.
That was all the ti I needed and so did Ralph. He threw the rope which perfectly went around its head and I took hold of my sword. The other guy ca running with his sword and plunged it into its belly. The monster sent him flying with its left limb but it had gotten weak and his attack had less force now. Ralph had tightened the noose making it difficult for the monster to breathe.
I waited a few seconds for the paralytic agent and sleeping powder to work. The monster had fallen to its knees now. I stepped forward and looked into its eyes before cleanly decapitating it. Its body writhed frantically before falling down in a slump. The yellow liquid which sprouted from its neck covered from head to toe.
"Yahh, yessss we did it." Ralph was shouting at the top of his lungs. Others gathered around too with happy smiling faces and twinkling eyes.
"Gross man, you look like shit or I would have hugged you." Ralph nudged my shoulder and we all laughed. None of us was seriously injured, although Xin Li had a grotesque mark on his face.
" Well done, you did a great job." Xin Li said shaking my hand.
"It was a team effort, I couldn’t have done it alone," I replied with sincerity.
The other guys patted my shoulder as well and congratulated . I asked their nas. The guy with the head injury was Paul and with the leg injury was Benton. I thanked them for their valiant effort or it wouldn’t have been possible to defeat such a creature alone.
"Well well well, not bad for a bunch of delinquents I must say." Shumal approached us clapping her hands. "Xin Li apply this on your face wound," she handed him an ointnt. "Zeph, you would need a shower and the rest of you will recover eventually," she said in a sluggish tone.
"You people can proceed to the dining hall, have so lunch, get fresh and then you people can go ho. Your acceptance letters will reach you at your hos if you are selected and you will need to report here in two weeks. Move along now, Zeph you would need to co with though."
"Why?" Ralph asked instead of .
"It’s ok Ralph, you go along I will join you soon," I assured him.
I wondered what she wanted with but I said goodbye to them and followed her.
