As the sound of footsteps faded away, under the moonlight, so people wearing Faceless Masks moved in another direction. Although the Night Cultists also had to obey the town’s rules, they had their special privileges.

Charles sharply turned his head to see the old man, who had already walked away, holding a thick book with a black cover and slowly turning his head towards him.
"Shit!" Charles cursed under his breath; encountering such nonsense was extrely bad luck!

Charles’s form rapidly lded into the darkness, becoming one with his surroundings.
"Black Night Law Article 126, unauthorized intrusion into others’ residences requires forty-eight-hour detention and fines; blacksmith, you’ve broken the law!"
The aged voice echoed, as if the mayor’s words transford into a rule, instantly freezing the darkness and preventing Charles’s escape.

Charles had the urge to curse, understanding now why Pu Sheng always had the Night Cultists patrol the mayor’s house daily.

The mayor’s sowhat stiff body paused, the book in his hand flipping through pages with a swishing sound, finally stopping on the ninth page.
"Black Night Law, Article Nine, escapees, marked, wanted, executed!"

The mayor closed the book, turned, and walked in another direction with chanical strides.
Simultaneously, a very peculiar wave traversed the entire Night Town.
On the other side, Pu Sheng was startled, then smiled, waving his hand as nurous figures in black robes with Faceless Masks swiftly began to run, scattering in all directions.
Step step step...
The urgent footsteps spread irregularly across the whole of Night Town.

Night Town is the world’s core; the rules here can be said to be the most Powerful rules in this world, and the mayor can invoke the Power of the decrees according to the law, thus leveraging the Power of the rules.
