I drove to the Moresi mansion in my black sports car, parking in front of the house.
Morgan and a few servants were waiting for at the entrance.
"Christian! You’re finally here, I’m so happy," she said, beaming at .
Here we go.
After adjusting my expression, I walked over to her side and smiled. "It’s a pleasure to see you, Miss Moresi."
She blushed and wrapped her arms around mine. "Oh, please call Morgan. We’ll be husband and wife soon."
We both walked inside, heading towards the dining room. "Father is finishing up so business, so dinner should be served soon," she explained on the way.
As soon as we walked into the dining room, my eyes landed on Leslie’s immaculate figure. She looked stunning, wearing a white silk slip dress.
I’m surprised she was allowed to wear that. She ntioned that her mother typically chose her clothes for her.
While the dress was beautiful, it was slightly revealing. The deep plunge neckline teased the top of her breasts and the high slit ran up to the top of her thigh.
You’re so beautiful.
She looked over at and smiled softly before averting her gaze once more.
A part of felt very sad that she wasn’t paying more attention to . I wanted to shake Morgan off and run over to sit with Leslie, but I knew that wouldn’t end well.
"Christian, would you like to take a walk with in the gardens after dinner? I would really love it", Morgan said, looking up at with hopeful eyes.
I nodded absentmindedly, agreeing to her request without much care. I wanted to peek over at Leslie again, but there was a commotion at the entrance that caught my attention.
Lucia walked in, followed by Georgio and the creepy-looking man from last ti.
I think his na was Karl.
I frowned slightly, realizing the trend of what was happening. Both tis this man was over, Leslie was wearing overly revealing clothing, showing off her curves.
There was a new, deep-seated hatred in my heart. I was hoping that it was just a coincidence, but the next thing out of Georgio’s mouth confird my suspicions.
"Leslie, go walk Karl to the entrance, take your ti. We will wait for you to return before starting."
My blood boiled. This was the first ti in my life that I’ve experienced jealousy, and I did not enjoy the feeling.
He wobbled over towards Leslie and reached his hand out to grab her hand. I could clearly see the fear and disgust on her face, but no one seed to care.
My body moved on its own, and the next mont, I placed my hand into his outstretched hand, shocking everyone in the room.
Get away from her!
"Hello, I’m Christian Vittoria. I don’t believe we ever formally introduced each other."
The short man looked up at , shaking my hand with a puzzled frown.
"Oh, hello. I’m Karl Farina. I...uhm..work closely with Patriarch Moresi at the Moresi auction house", he said as his eyes wandered around, trying to get a glimpse of Leslie behind .
"Ah, it’s a pleasure to et you. What sort of things do you do at the auction house? I’m very interested," I smiled, blocking his view.
He quickly averted my gaze as he thought of an answer. I could clearly see his nervousness from his body language and the sweat building up on his forehead.
"Karl is my right-hand man. He doesn’t have a particular job title and handles various odd tasks for , a little bit like a secretary," Georgio stepped in, answering for him.
Seems like Karl is becoming more and more suspicious. I will have to investigate him more.
I stared at the man, committing his face to mory. The more I looked, the more I felt that he was related to the dark side of the Moresi family, the one they did everything to hide.
"It was nice to et you, sir. However, I must be going now, there are things that I need to do," he said nervously.
I big smile ford on my face, but it didn’t et my eyes, "Yes, of course. It was a pleasure to et you," I said before stepping aside.
He imdiately grabbed Leslie by the hand and dragged her out of the dining room. My eyes darkened as I thought of at least a hundred ways to kill the man.
The only thing stopping was his usefulness. I was certain he was part of sothing shady, and as soon as I got ho, I would make sure he would be tailed and investigated.
"Christian! I am so glad you could make it today." Georgio walked over and shook my hand.
I took one last glance toward the hallway where Leslie went before adjusting my expression.
"Yes! Of course. I’ve been aning to take a trip over here, so when I received the invitation from Leslie, I quickly agreed," I smiled.
"I hope Leslie hasn’t been annoying you at work," Morgan chid in abruptly.
Now that I knew the real relationship between the two sisters, I could quickly pick up on the resentnt in Morgan’s voice.
"No, don’t worry. She’s been doing her job well, leaving very satisfied", I replied as I pulled the velvet box out of my coat pocket.
"For you. I hope you like it."
Morgan’s face lit up. She quickly accepted the box from my hands and inspected the logo.
"Mother! Look, it’s from Sophia!" she cried out, running her fingers down the ’S’ symbol.
Lucia walked over, "Open it! All of Sophia’s pieces are of the highest quality. This is a very generous gift."
Morgan opened the box, revealing the multicolored brooch, and gasped.
"Christian! It’s beautiful! I love it so much, thank you!"
I smiled and nodded, but all of my attention was on the hallway. If I so much as heard a single cry from Leslie’s mouth, I was ready to drop everything and storm my way over.
Thankfully, she ca back only a few minutes later and looked unhard.
"Leslie, look at this beautiful brooch that Christian gifted . It’s from Sophia!", boasted Morgan.
She held the butterfly brooch in her hand, showing it off proudly.
Leslie glanced at the brooch and then at before shifting into her perfect act. Her face lit up with joy as she walked over to Morgan’s side.
"Wow, Morgan. It’s so beautiful, it truly suits you!" she said, looking at it with envy.
If I didn’t know any better, I would truly believe that she was envious. Her reaction made Morgan feel smug as she continued to show off the brooch.
"Okay, everyone! Let’s all take a seat, dinner is ready," Lucia called out a few minutes later.
We all took a seat at the table. And before the food finished being served, Georgio looked over at , "Christian, do you have anything interesting going on this week?"
I flashed an amused smile. Georgio’s eagerness was as prominent as ever.
Getting straight to the point, are we?
