I bent over and wrapped my wet hair in my towel after drying off slightly. When I made it back into Christian’s bedroom, I found him standing by the bed, talking on the phone.
"Okay, good. Tell your uncle I said thanks," he said before hanging up.
I slid over into the closet and walked over to where my clothes were, picking out a pair of clean underwear. When I turned around, I found Christian leaning over in the doorway.
"Now that’s a view," he said with a smile.
I blushed slightly and walked towards him, trying to exit the large closet. But as I walked past Christian, his hands wrapped around , pulling in. "Sorry about the marks. I went a little crazy, I guess."
"You think?" I said, pretending to be upset. But the smile on my face betrayed .
Christian reached down and kissed one of the dark bruises that was right on the base of my neck.
"No way! I just showered!" I said, evading his kiss.
"What? I was just going to give you a simple kiss," he said, glancing at with overly innocent eyes.
I raised an eyebrow, "Are you sure it was just a simple kiss and you weren’t planning on following up on that with anything else?"
Christian imdiately averted his gaze and flashed a guilty smile. "Okay, maybe it wasn’t so simple, but what do you expect when you’re walking around naked and sexy? I’m in my pri, it’s hard to control myself sotis."
"Uh-huh," I answered, not buying into his excuses. "I let you have your way with all night. We both need a break, else I’m worried sothing will break."
My eyes traveled down to the bulge that was slightly poking up from under his towel. His finger caught my chin and lifted my head. "Eyes up here, princess. And trust , you couldn’t break even if you tried."
Behind the smirk on his face, I could see the swirling emotions of desire. The worst part was that I wanted to give in. I wanted him to bend over right this instant and take again and again.
My eyes traveled to the clock over on the nightstand. It was already almost noon, and I knew that I had to head ho soon.
Christian noticed my gaze, "You aren’t serious about going back there, are you?"
Instead of answering him, I threw a different question his way. "How do you plan to do it? I’m assuming you’ve gathered all of the evidence?"
Christian’s expression quickly changed to one filled with concern. He took a step forward and pulled into his arms again, but this ti with the intention to comfort .
"Are you sure you want to talk about this. They’re your family after all."
My eyes fell to the floor. I studied the wood grain pattern while I thought about how I felt about all of this. Outside of disgust and the lingering shock, I didn’t have too many other feelings.
"It feels wrong to say this, but I don’t really care what happens to my father. He had it in him to do sothing so vile, he deserves to pay the consequences. It’s not like he was a great father to either. What other dad would send his daughter to get assaulted?"
My tone was void of emotion. I kept digging into the crevices of my heart to try and find the pain and suffering that I felt like I should be feeling, but there was nothing.
Christian squeezed tighter to try and comfort . Silence filled the room for a few monts before he spoke. "I have enough evidence to put him in prison for life, along with the others who were involved."
My brow furrowed. "Then what’s holding you back? I’m surprised you haven’t called the police last night. You said you attended the event before you ca to rescue , right?"
"Mhm, I was there. My initial plan was to call the police. I had a signal set up with Zach and everything, but I happened to run into the chief of police at the event, so it beca even more complicated."
My eyes widened, "What?!" I turned around to face Christian, looking up into his eyes. "You’re joking, right? The chief of police was involved in this?"
Christian didn’t reply right away. He just looked into my eyes, assessing my emotional state.
"Not involved. Worse. He was a buyer," he finally said with a deep sigh. "Zach’s uncle is second in command. He was the only one I could trust, and his uncle said that we should keep this under wraps for a few days until he gets back up from the central bureau."
I nodded. This beca more complicated by the minute.
Christian let out another sigh, "I just hope it all gets settled by the end of the month."
"Why end of the month?" I asked.
He leaned back against the doorfra, pulling in with him slightly. "Last night I agreed to marry your sister by the end of the month. I did it to get her off of . She was the one who told where you were and that you were with Karl. She refused to let go unless I agreed, so in frustration, I said yes."
The look on his face was of pure annoyance and regret.
"I should’ve just thrown her off with force."
"Haha!" I couldn’t help it and erupted into laughter.
"What’s so funny? I thought you’d be upset." Christian looked down at , clearly confused.
I shook my head. "Upset? No. I’d be upset if you told that you wanted to get married to Morgan. I knew from the start that it was never your intention."
"Was it that obvious?" he asked.
"To ? Yeah. Everyone else seed pretty convinced that you were serious," I said.
Suddenly, an idea popped into my head. After what my family did to be with Karl, I still harbored resentnt and anger. I looked straight into Christian’s eyes. "What if you go through with the wedding? And while the whole world is gathered, we expose them?"
Christian froze. His gaze flickered from one of my eyes to the other.
"Are you sure you want to do that?"
