Before I could even open my eyes, I could hear the sound of dical equipnt beeping softly beside .
My entire body felt like a bag of bricks, heavy and stiff.
Where am I?
"He’s out of danger. I am unsure of how long recovery will be."
Who’s talking? Is that Liam?
After a few minutes, I finally had enough energy to open my eyes. I was lying on a less-than-comfortable bed in a small room with white walls. All around was advanced dical equipnt and the sll of antiseptic.
"Christian? Are you awake?" Liam walked over wearing his white doctor’s coat and scrubs.
Am I in the hospital? What happened?
"What happened? Why am I here?" I asked before Liam had a chance to speak.
"You...you don’t rember? I was hoping to ask you that. The story I was told was that you were in a car accident. Drunk driving," said Liam, lowering his voice.
"Drunk driving?" Never in my life have I been so bold as to drive drunk. This alone told that sothing was off.
Liam walked over and looked over, "Christian, how much do you rember? Don’t stress it if you can’t rember much. mory loss after a concussion is common."
mory loss?
"I rember that I agreed to get engaged to the Moresi daughter. They were just over my house," I said, looking over at him.
Liam montarily froze before nodding. "I see."
"Liam, tell . How many mories did I lose? Don’t sugar coat it, I need to know," I urged. Liam was an excellent doctor, but he always did everything by the book. Just by his body language, I could tell that he was reluctant to tell .
"Let’s just say, you and the eldest Miss Moresi are already long engaged," he said, writing sothing down in his small notebook.
Sounds like I lost quite a bit...
"I’ll call Zach later to investigate. I can tell you right now that I was not drunk driving; there has to be another reason."
I did my best to remain calm, even though the news of mory loss was quite the shock to .
"Where was I yesterday?" I asked. Sothing happened to and I needed to figure out what.
"Christian, please. Listen to as your doctor and friend. Just focus on recovery. While you don’t have any broken bones, you have fractures in a few places. Jogging your mory could be detrintal to your health."
Liam looked at with pleading eyes. He knew my stubborn nature couldn’t simply sit still and wait.
"Liam. I understand, but I’ll go even crazier if I don’t know. Do you honestly believe I was drunk driving? ? Of all the people you know, ?" I asked, urging him.
He finally shook his head, "No, I don’t believe that you were drunk driving. But all of that can be properly investigated in due ti."
"Just tell where I was last night. I won’t ask more." I was determined to get at least this much information.
"Christian...fine," he sighed, giving in to my request. "You were at the Moresi Auction House. Last night was the Sophia season launch event."
Sophia season launch?!
I tried to force myself to rember, but a splitting headache made break out into a cold sweat.
"Whoa, it’s okay, just focus on the present. Don’t try to rember, it’s not good for you." Liam walked over and adjusted the dicine in my IV, helping alleviate the splitting headache.
"How long will I be like this? I’ll get my mories back eventually, right?" This ti, my voice was laced with frustration. I hated not knowing what happened to , not rembering so many things.
I feel like I forgot sothing very, very important.

Liam’s phone buzzed. He pulled it out of his pocket and frowned.
"They’re here already?" he said, letting out a deep sigh.
"Who is it?" I asked. I knew that it was most likely for .
He looked over at , "Guess? It’s you’re wonderful fiancée. I can send them awa-"
"No, let them co. If I were at the Auction House last night, they’re sohow related to my condition. Maybe seeing them will help rember."
I was desperate to regain my mories. It felt as if everything in my mind was covered in a hazy fog. It was right in front of , but I couldn’t see it.
"Fine, I’ll let them co up, but I’m staying here with you. If it becos too much, just give a signal and I’ll have them leave," sighed Liam, sending a ssage back.
I nodded, agreeing to his conditions.

A few minutes later, the door to my room opened, and Madam Moresi walked in with both of her daughters.
Morgan ran over to my side, holding intimately by the hand.
Were we so close?
I resisted the urge to rip my hand away from her, allowing her to do as she pleased. I was more interested in observing their expressions to see if I could find any clues about what happened yesterday.
Unfortunately, only the won of the family ca. What I really wanted was to look Georgio in the eyes.
Morgan imdiately began to put on a show, wiping away fake tears as she was telling how worried she was.
Sothing isn’t right. Why do I feel like there’s sothing very important that I’m missing?
I looked around the room, trying to see if I could find anything to jog my mory. I looked past Morgan to her mother, and finally to Morgan’s sister.
I think her na was Leslie. I rember thinking she felt a little different from the rest of the family.
She seed different from what I rembered. Her eyes were locked onto , looking at with genuine concern.
The only thing I could rember was her distant attitude when they ca over for dinner. She was the only one who ate the food.
Why is she looking at like that?
An uncomfortable tension spread through my chest. I averted my gaze to look back at Morgan, and the feeling disappeared.
Strange.
