Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce Chapter 171: Doesn’t See Me as a Boyfriend
Lucia didn’t question what Wren Sutton said. She pursed her lips and was silent for a mont.
"I’ll text my mom in a bit to let her know I’m safe."
Wren Sutton was relieved that Lucia was such a sensible girl.
"That’s the spirit. The whole family is waiting to hear from you, including your grandmother. She was discharged from the hospital today."
Lucia lowered her head in sha. "I was supposed to pick up Grandma from the hospital today, but I couldn’t make it. She must be so disappointed in ."
Wren Sutton gently comforted her. "As long as you get ho safely, your grandmother won’t hold it against you."
Lucia nodded. "I’ll go see Grandma as soon as I’m better."
Caleb Caldwell, who was nearby, chid in, "I’ll go with you to the family estate to visit your grandmother then."
’It wasn’t just about visiting her. He had sothing serious to discuss with the matriarch.’
Wren Sutton helped Lucia take her dicine and chatted with her for a while. Then, she sent Caleb Caldwell out to buy groceries.
Following the shopping list Wren Sutton had written, Caleb Caldwell quickly bought everything they needed. When he got back, he helped Wren cook in the kitchen.
"Wren, be honest with . What do you think of ?"
With her hands full, Wren Sutton answered sincerely, "I think you’re a great guy."
"If I said I wanted to marry Lucia, would the Lancaster family agree? Especially Aunt Sterling."
Wren Sutton was speechless.
Caleb Caldwell’s expression was serious. He lowered his voice and said, "Wren, you can probably tell that I have feelings for Lucia."
Wren Sutton nodded gently. "I’ve noticed. And Lucia trusts you a lot. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be staying at your place while she’s sick."
"That’s because Lucia doesn’t see as a boyfriend. To her, I’m just her best guy friend, a buddy." After saying this, Caleb let out a barely audible sigh, looking a little dejected.
Wren Sutton got straight to the point. "That’s because you haven’t told her how you feel. Lucia has no idea."
A light dawned in Caleb Caldwell’s eyes. He raised a hand and—SMACK—slapped himself on the forehead.
"Wren, thank you for pointing that out."
Wren Sutton smiled. "Good luck. And if you do win her over, you have to treat Lucia well."
Caleb Caldwell imdiately raised his hand as if taking an oath. "Don’t worry, Wren. Lucia is my everything. I’ll definitely treat her right and spoil her rotten. I’ll only love her for the rest of my life."
’Wren silently wished Lucia and Caleb all the best.’
Thanks to the combined care of Wren and Caleb, Lucia’s fever broke that afternoon. Her appetite returned, and the color slowly ca back to her cheeks.
Relieved, Wren told Caleb to take good care of Lucia before she left.
When he learned that Wren hadn’t driven, Caleb didn’t hesitate to grab his car keys. "Wren, I’ll give you a ride."
"No, it’s fine." Wren waved him off. "I’ll get a cab. You stay here and look after Lucia."
"But..."
"No buts. Do as I say. Lucia needs you more."
Wren’s tone was firm. She changed her shoes at the door and left Caleb’s apartnt.
...
「For the next two days, aside from eting with Mr. Pierce, Wren spent the rest of her ti resting at ho.」
The court date was tomorrow, and she and Mr. Pierce were fully prepared.
After dinner, Wren went to her bedroom to shower and get so sleep. ’There’s a tough battle ahead tomorrow,’ she thought. ’I absolutely can’t stay up late tonight.’
She had just changed into her pajamas and climbed into bed when her phone rang. It was Spencer Sawyer.
Wren answered the phone. "Spencer."
"Hey," Spencer Sawyer replied, his tone gentle. "I’m not disturbing you, am I?"
"No. Is there sothing you need, Spencer?"
"Tomorrow’s the court date. I’ll be at the courthouse on ti to support you and Mr. Pierce."
A warm feeling spread through Wren. "Thank you, Spencer."
They made small talk for a few monts.
Spencer suddenly thought of sothing. "Oh, by the way... will, uh... *he* be at the courthouse tomorrow?"
Wren was confused for a second. "Who are you talking about?"
Spencer felt a complicated pang of bitterness. "Your husband."
