Hearing him call her "babe" made Wren Sutton cringe so hard she broke out in goosebumps.

It was the first ti she had ever heard Adrian Lancaster call her that. She didn’t find it sweet; instead, she felt embarrassed and awkward.

’We’re grown adults, and he’s calling ’babe’...’

She pulled away from Adrian Lancaster and took half a step back.

"Sothing this serious happened at the company. You need to focus on handling it. Lives are at stake. You should go."

"Wait for ."

Wren Sutton gave a noncommittal hum of agreent.

Adrian Lancaster drove away, his taillights gradually disappearing from her sight.

Wren Sutton stood where she was, sighing, her heart aching for the dead and injured.

’How many families had been destroyed by a single explosion.’

Mr. and Mrs. Sutton returned from their walk. When they learned that Adrian had gone to deal with the branch company’s incident, they sighed over the victims’ plight.

"Those poor people. To think sothing like this could happen just from going to work."

"They absolutely have to handle the aftermath properly."

Wren Sutton remained silent, confident that The Rhodes Group wouldn’t fail to do right by the victims’ families.

"Dad, Mom, I have two more things to tell you."

Mr. and Mrs. Sutton listened intently. "What is it?"

"I found a child on the street. Her na is Zoey, and she’s in the hospital now, diagnosed with leukemia."

Mr. and Mrs. Sutton were utterly shocked.

"The second thing is, in three days, I... well..." Wren Sutton stamred, worried her parents would be too shocked to hear it.

"What’s happening in three days?" Mrs. Sutton asked anxiously.

"Nina, hurry up and tell us. Don’t hide it from your father and ."

After a painful internal struggle, Wren Sutton took a deep breath.

"My court hearing against the Marshall family is in three days."

Mr. and Mrs. Sutton were shocked beyond belief. Mrs. Sutton sat down beside her and took her daughter’s hand.

"What is the lawsuit about?"

Wren Sutton told them everything, explaining the whole story from start to finish, including Maya Marshall’s amputation.

After hearing the story, Mr. Sutton was so angry he nearly smashed his teacup on the floor.

"The Marshall family has gone too far!"

Mrs. Sutton was also trembling with anger. "They’re absolutely shaless."

Wren Sutton quickly tried to calm them. "Dad, Mom, calm down. I’ve hired the best lawyer. Good will triumph over evil. I’m sure I can win this lawsuit."

"By the way, Mr. Pierce was recomnded to by one of my old seniors. They’re good friends."

"Was the person who introduced you Sam?"

"Yes."

Mrs. Sutton nodded in relief. "Sam is a really good person. Once you win the lawsuit, our whole family needs to thank him properly."

Wren Sutton felt the sa way. She would always be grateful for her senior’s help.

That night, the family of three talked for a long ti.

Late that night, Wren Sutton lay in bed, unable to sleep, her mind heavy with worries.

Besides Zoey and the court hearing, there were two other things she hadn’t told her parents.

Wren Sutton closed her eyes, her palm resting on her stomach. An image of Adrian Lancaster’s face flashed through her mind.

In the middle of the night, her phone lit up with a new ssage.

[Honey, I just got off the plane. I’m in Creston.]

...

「The next day.」

Wren Sutton got up at her usual ti. It wasn’t until breakfast that she saw the ssage Adrian Lancaster had sent at three in the morning.

She silently put down her phone without replying.

After finishing her al, Wren Sutton changed her clothes and took a taxi to the hospital.

When she walked into the hospital room, Theodore Lancaster and Claire Sterling were already there, along with Nanny Lawson.

Wren carried herself with a calm dignity, politely greeting everyone.

The matriarch waved at her happily. "Wren, you’re here."

With a smile on her face, Wren Sutton walked over elegantly and sat down beside the matriarch.

"Grandma, Adrian went to handle the branch company’s situation, so he couldn’t co."

The matriarch nodded. "I know. With sothing this serious happening, he ought to be there."

"Mom, don’t worry. Adrian will definitely be able to handle things," Theodore Lancaster said reassuringly.

"Of course he will." The matriarch had great faith in Adrian Lancaster’s abilities.

Claire Sterling remained silent the whole ti, a hint of anxiety in her eyes. She seed distracted and eager to leave.

Fortunately, the discharge procedures were completed quickly, so there wasn’t much of a delay.

The matriarch was in a wheelchair, and Wren Sutton pushed her out.

The Lancaster family had brought three cars in total.

Wren Sutton and Nanny Lawson accompanied the matriarch in one car, Theodore and his wife sat in another, and the caregivers and servants took the third.

The three cars left the hospital gate in succession and, half an hour later, drove into the Lancaster family estate.

The butler and servants were lined up to welco them.

Back ho, the matriarch finally felt a sense of belonging and security.

"It’s still most comfortable at ho. Just like the old saying goes, there’s no place like ho."

"Mom, I wouldn’t exactly call our house a ’straw nest’," Theodore Lancaster joked.

The matriarch laughed as well.

In the kitchen, the chefs were busy preparing lunch.

Wren Sutton didn’t have to do anything but keep the matriarch company, talking and watching TV.

Theodore Lancaster, his mind on the branch company’s incident, chatted with his mother for a bit before getting up and heading to the study.

Claire Sterling didn’t move, sitting on the sofa with her head in her hand, looking deeply troubled.

Wren Sutton noticed, but she didn’t know what Ms. Sterling was worried about, so she said nothing.

Just as she was keeping silent, the matriarch suddenly changed the subject, her gaze focusing on Claire Sterling.

"Daughter-in-law, what’s wrong? You look so gloomy and worried."

Claire Sterling didn’t deny it, sighing, "You noticed."

The matriarch was certain that she wasn’t worried about the branch company, but about sothing else entirely.

"Go on, tell us. Don’t keep it to yourself. If you tell us, we can all help you figure it out."

Claire Sterling said in a defeated tone, "I had a fight with Lucia yesterday. Her phone has been off ever since, and she’s not at ho. I don’t know where she went. We’ve already checked everywhere we could think of."

"Lucia isn’t a child. I’m sure she can take care of herself."

"That girl is so rebellious now, she doesn’t listen to a word I say. Yesterday, I only ntioned setting her up on a date, and she completely lost her temper with . It made furious." Claire Sterling was both angry and anxious, worried about her daughter.

The matriarch frowned. "Lucia is still so young, and you’re already pushing her into blind dates."

"Mom, that’s not what you said a mont ago. You just said Lucia isn’t a child anymore."

The matriarch: "..."

After hearing this, Wren Sutton also grew worried that sothing might have actually happened to Lucia. She excused herself to go to the restroom and took out her phone to call Lucia.

"The number you have dialed has been switched off."

’Sure enough, the phone is still off. It seems this isn’t just a simple tantrum.’

Wren Sutton thought for a mont, and a certain person ca to mind. Perhaps he knew where Lucia was.

Wren Sutton imdiately dialed Caleb Caldwell’s number.

It rang for a long ti before the other end finally picked up.

"Wren! Long ti no talk. What can I do for you?" Caleb Caldwell’s voice was as cheerful as ever.

Wren Sutton didn’t beat around the bush. "I need to find Lucia, but I can’t get in touch with her. I was hoping you could help."

Caleb Caldwell glanced at the woman sleeping soundly beside him, not daring to make a decision on his own.

"Wren, you... why are you looking for Lucia? Is it urgent?"

Wren Sutton said, "Yes, which is why I’m so desperate to contact her imdiately. Please, help ."

Caleb Caldwell coughed into his fist, caught in a difficult position.

"Alright, I’ll see what I can do. I’ll let you know as soon as I have any news."

"Thank you, Caleb."

"Don’t ntion it, Wren."

They both hung up at the sa ti.

Caleb Caldwell put down his phone, moved closer to Lucia Lancaster, and felt her forehead.

"Still burning up."

His heart aching for her, he pulled her into his arms and nuzzled her cheek.

"Lucia, you need to get better soon. Wren is looking for you for sothing urgent."

"Without your permission, I don’t dare tell her that you’re here with ."
