Wren Sutton looked away and urged, "Just move your car."

Adrian Lancaster frowned. "Is that how you ask for a favor?"

Wren didn’t want to fight. She took a deep breath, reined in her temper, and forced a fake smile.

"Could you please move your car? I need to go ho. Thank you."

Adrian watched her, his gaze as deep and inscrutable as ever.

"Ride ho in my car."

Wren didn’t appreciate the offer. She knew he was just saying it; he didn’t really intend to take her ho.

’With Maya Marshall in the hospital, he’d never be willing to go ho.’

"I have my own car, so I won’t trouble you for a special trip. You should go do whatever it is you need to do. I wouldn’t dare take up your precious ti."

Hearing this, Adrian laughed in exasperation. "I never realized how sharp your tongue could be."

Wren was physically and ntally exhausted. Without another word, she turned with a blank expression, got into her car, and waited in the driver’s seat for Adrian to move his.

Adrian didn’t make things difficult for her. He cooperatively pulled the Rolls-Royce slowly to the side.

With the way cleared, Wren started her car, ready to leave.

But sothing was wrong. She tried to start it several tis, but the car didn’t react at all, remaining motionless where it was.

Wren frowned in frustration as she tried to figure out the problem.

’What’s going on!’

’The car was fine when I got here. How could it break down after just a few hours?’

Just as she was about to pull out her phone to call the dealership, Adrian knocked on her window.

Annoyed, Wren rolled down the window.

"What’s the situation?" Adrian asked. "I cleared the way for you."

Wren was in a bad mood, and her voice was sullen. "The car won’t start."

Sothing flashed in Adrian’s eyes. He gestured for her to move to the passenger seat.

"Let try."

Wren said, "I’ve already tried several tis."

But she followed his direction anyway, obediently sliding over.

Adrian opened the door, ducked inside, and sat in the driver’s seat.

After a few attempts, the car still wouldn’t start.

"It’s not starting. Sothing must be broken."

Wren sighed helplessly. "I’ll call the dealership and have soone co fix it."

"It’s already dark. Who knows what ti they’ll be done fixing it. It can wait until tomorrow."

The mont Adrian finished speaking, Wren’s phone rang.

It was Mrs. Sutton, urging her to co ho for dinner and specifically telling her to bring Adrian along.

Adrian heard this and was secretly delighted. He quickly leaned over and said into the phone, "Mom, we’re together now. We’ll be right back."

"Okay, okay, great! Drive safe. We’ll be waiting. I’m hanging up now."

Wren: "..."

Adrian opened the car door. "Let’s go. We’ll take my car to go ho for dinner. We shouldn’t keep Mom and Dad waiting too long."

Wren felt conflicted. She was annoyed that Adrian had interjected and ruined her plans, but it was too late to say anything now.

"You look pretty happy about this."

Adrian smiled, a light sparkling in his eyes. "My mother-in-law invited ho for dinner. Of course I’m happy."

After speaking, he leaned in close to Wren, his gaze holding a hint of intimacy.

"What about you? Are you happy?"

Wren inwardly rolled her eyes. She dodged his warm breath, ignored him, and opened her door to get out.

The wind stirred, carrying a faint, sweet fragrance through the air.

Adrian closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The exquisite scent filled his lungs; he had missed this fragrance dearly.

...

The Rolls-Royce drove at a steady pace down a main city road.

Adrian was driving, with Wren in the passenger seat. Her head was tilted slightly to the right as she gazed absentmindedly out the window.

It was quiet in the car.

While waiting at a red light, Adrian broke the silence. "What are you thinking about?"

Wren didn’t change her position, still looking outside as she said in a low voice, "Nothing."

Adrian: "Why didn’t you tell the court hearing is in three days?"

"..." Wren didn’t respond.

A shadow crossed Adrian’s eyes, and he tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

「Twenty minutes later.」

The Rolls-Royce pulled up in front of the Sutton family’s residence.

Wren unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out when Adrian held out a black card to her.

She glanced at it. "What’s this for?"

"Lawsuits are expensive, and that lawyer of yours, Pei, doesn’t co cheap." Adrian was serious.

Wren refused it. "I can afford the legal fees."

Adrian ignored her protest, forcefully pressing the card into her hand.

"Even if you’re mad at , don’t take it out on the money. The old black card was canceled. This is a new one, with no limit."

"I said I don’t want it." Wren tried to give the card back to Adrian.

Adrian held her hand down. "Would you rather I give my money to another woman?"

Wren was tired of this. "It’s your money. Give it to whoever you want."

Adrian took this as her just being contrary, and his tone was indulgent. "I only want to give it to you."

For a mont, Wren was dazed, feeling as if sothing had struck her in the chest.

While she was distracted, Adrian wrapped his arms around her waist. "I’ll go with you on the day of the hearing."
