Wren Sutton was so exasperated by Adrian Lancaster’s childish antics that she had to laugh.

"It’s just a shot. What are you doing? Don’t tell you’re afraid of needles. Even little kids aren’t afraid. Are you?"

Adrian Lancaster’s face darkened as he flatly denied it. "Who said I’m afraid of needles? I’m just not used to getting a shot... there."

"That’s where they give shots to reduce a fever. It’s standard practice everywhere. If you insist on being a special case, then I’m done with you. If you want to switch hospitals, go ahead. I won’t be joining you."

After she spoke, Wren Sutton forcefully shook off Adrian Lancaster’s hand and walked away without looking back.

Adrian Lancaster grabbed her again, his grip even tighter this ti.

"Don’t you know damn well why I have a fever? You have to take responsibility for . You’re not going anywhere until my fever breaks."

Wren Sutton gritted her teeth in anger. "Are you saying it’s my fault you have a fever?"

Adrian Lancaster didn’t speak, his silence a clear affirmation.

Wren Sutton grew even angrier. The two began to argue, neither willing to back down.

Just then, the doctor spoke up to remind them, "Excuse , this is a hospital."

Wren Sutton cald down, realizing her behavior had been inappropriate. She apologized to the doctor, then turned to Adrian Lancaster and asked irritably, "Do you want to get rid of this fever or not?"

"Of course I do," Adrian Lancaster said sullenly.

Wren Sutton’s patience was wearing thin. "Then cooperate and get the shot."

Adrian Lancaster wrestled with himself. He had a trauma associated with getting shots, especially in that... particular spot.

It was a secret no one else knew, and he especially couldn’t let Wren Sutton find out.

"If you stay and don’t leave, I’ll cooperate."

Wren Sutton felt helpless and reluctantly agreed. "I’ll wait for you by the door."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Only after getting Wren Sutton’s assurance did Adrian Lancaster finally release her hand.

After Wren Sutton left, Adrian Lancaster voluntarily walked toward the injection area in the inner room. As he passed the doctor, he gave him a cold warning, "Go easy on ."

The doctor: ...

...

In the ti it took Wren Sutton to make a phone call, Adrian Lancaster had gotten his shot and co out. He looked absolutely foul, as if soone owed him a fortune.

’That bastard. He was so rough. I won’t let him off the hook.’

Just as Adrian Lancaster was seething with resentnt for the doctor, Wren Sutton’s voice reached him. "I just called Kevin Dawson. He’ll be here to pick you up soon. Wait for him in the first-floor lobby."

This was like pouring fuel on the fire of Adrian Lancaster’s mood. He seethed with anger. "Where are you going?"

"I have sothing to do. I’m not going your way."

Before Wren Sutton called Kevin Dawson, she had received a call from the court.

"So this is all I’m worth to you now? My fever hasn’t even broken, and you’re already..."

Wren Sutton cut Adrian Lancaster off, her conscience clear. "No matter what, I brought you to the hospital."

She paused. The past rushed back, vivid and clear. A sudden pang of pain seized her chest, and a sour sting spread through her nose.

"The day my corpus luteum ruptured, an ambulance brought to the hospital. The surgery started and finished, and you never once set foot inside that hospital. Do you have any idea how I felt then?"

"When it cos to being heartless and cruel, I can never compare to you. That’s the part of myself I hate the most."

"..."

Watching Wren Sutton’s determined back as she left, Adrian Lancaster didn’t have the face to chase after her. He was plunged into deep self-reproach and regret.

’How could I have been such an asshole back then?’

After leaving the hospital, Wren Sutton first took a taxi back to Amberwood Estates, where she personally signed for a court summons from a courier.

The Marshall Family had officially filed a lawsuit against her. The court date was in three days.

She imdiately relayed the news to Aaron Pierce.

Mr. Pierce replied, "Co to the firm. We’ll talk in person."
