Yvette did not stop and walked up the stairs with Stephen in her arms.
As the revolving door spun, they disappeared from Lance’s eyes.
Yvette did not say much during the al, but she did not show any other emotions on her face.
Stephen cut the steak for her gently and handed the plate over. Seeing that Yvette did not eat much, he asked, "Don’t you like it?"
"No, maybe because I drank a cup of coffee in the afternoon. I was not too hungry."
"Yvette," Stephen looked at Lance, who was eating alone not far away, and suddenly said.
"What?"
Stephen asked after so deliberation, "Is it that you still can’t forget him?"
Yvette’s hand that had put down the fork suddenly paused, but she did not answer.
Stephen felt a little pity. "If you really can’t forget him, you don’t have to force yourself. After a long ti, it will be cured."
Because Stephen was friends with Marlon, his feelings for Yvette were subtle. In the beginning, he treated her as his younger sister, but after a long ti, he could not tell what feelings he had.
Moreover, Stephen had never been in love, and he did not know how it felt.
In short, Stephen wanted Yvette to be happy. As long as she was happy, it didn’t matter if they were not lovers.
Yvette was grateful for Stephen’s comfort. Sotis, there were so things that she could not tell Marlon. She was afraid that he would be impulsive.
However, there was no such concern when Yvette was with Stephen because he could always guess what she was thinking. He never did sothing that would make things difficult for her.
"I understand, Stephen."
Her thoughts were the sa as Stephen’s. Yvette did not want to force herself to beco cold. She only let nature take its course.
Just like now, Yvette could calmly eat in the sa space as Lance.
It was impossible for Yvette to hide from Lance for the rest of her life. She believed their past would fade out.
The dinner ended earlier than expected. When Yvette got up, she saw the man not far away. Lance’s handso and compelling face was filled with indifference.
Yvette looked away as if she had seen a stranger.
After they walked a few steps, Stephen’s phone rang. It was about work.
He did not pick it up, but his phone rang again.
Just as Stephen was about to hang up, Yvette stopped him.
"Stephen, what if it’s sothing important?"
"Everything will be put off until I send you ho." Stephen frowned, still not wanting to pick it up.
"Then pick it up first and listen to what it is."
Stephen was convinced by Yvette. After he picked up the phone, his face changed without saying a word.
"Is it serious?
"Which hospital is it?"
...
Stephen hung up the phone and looked at Yvette with a troubled expression.
Before he could say anything, Yvette said, "It’s quite a serious matter, right? Then you go ahead and do what you need to do. Don’t worry about ."
Stephen said, "It’s a student. He did the wrong experint and injured his hand. His parents are not in New York, so no one can make the decision."
"Then you should go quickly." Yvette pushed Stephen. "I’m fine. I’ll call the driver to pick up."
Stephen was concerned. "The driver will be here for more than thirty minutes. I’m worried that you’ll have to wait here for so long."
Yvette thought about it and agreed. It would take a long ti for the driver to arrive.
Yvette turned on her phone and said, "Then I’ll get a taxi now. Stephen, don’t worry about . I’m an adult. I can go ho by myself."
Stephen was worried, but the person who sent the student to the operating room was also a student. At this ti, he was in a daze and kept calling Stephen.
Stephen had no choice but to leave first. He kept telling Yvette to take care before he left.
Yvette waited for the taxi at the door alone. There were only a few taxis on the road. After waiting for twenty minutes, she still couldn’t get one.
However, Yvette t a few drunk drunkards. Seeing that Yvette was beautiful, they drunkenly asked for her number.
Yvette ignored them, frowned, and walked to the security booth at the door to avoid them.
Yvette didn’t expect that those drunkards would be so bold as to knock on the door of the security room. After the security guard scolded them harshly, they even knocked on the door harder.
Seeing this, the security guard picked up the walkie-talkie and called all the security guards in the hall to stop these drunkards.
Before the other security guards ca over, they heard a shrill whistle. A black Maybach rushed over fiercely. It seed like it was going to hit these drunkards.
The drunkards were so scared that they quickly ran away. Two of them fell and rolled on the ground.
The security guard was startled. If the car didn’t stop, it would overturn the security room.
Yvette was also shocked. Her hand pressed on her abdon, and her face turned pale.
Fortunately, the Maybach stopped and was far away from the security booth.
The driver got out of the car and greeted them, saying that he did not see clearly.
When the wretched drunkards heard this, they imdiately got angry with the driver. Just as they were about to vent their anger, they were stopped by the nearby patrols.
According to the security guard’s words, the drunkards were brought back to the police station for causing trouble.
Yvette ca out of the security room and saw that the taxi had also arrived at this ti.
She walked past the black Maybach. Yvette couldn’t see through the black car window, but she felt a little uncomfortable as if soone was staring at her.
Without even looking, Yvette knew who was sitting inside.
However, Yvette didn’t know the driver, so she thought she might be wrong.
In short, Yvette would not think that Lance was helping her out.
After Yvette got into the taxi, the driver explained to her why he was late.
There were stars performing in the gymnasium not far ahead, which led to traffic paralysis.
The cars that were sent in this direction tonight had to drive for a long ti. Yvette’s driver was relatively quick.
From now on, it would take more than one hour to drive over.
The driver was a great talker, but Yvette was vigilant and did not expose her personal information.
Before she got in the car, she checked the license plate number and sent it to Stephen, indicating that she had already gotten in the car.
After the car drove forward for a distance, it suddenly stopped.
After the driver got out of the car to check, he ca up and apologized to Yvette, "I’m sorry. The car is broken. We have to get soone to fix it."
"Sure," Yvette nodded.
The driver scratched his head. "The road is terribly congested. I’m afraid the repair crews couldn’t get here in ti. Why don’t you switch to another car? I won’t charge you for the fare."
Only then did Yvette rember that there was a heavy traffic jam.
But because of this, there was no car heading south. It was pitch black, and Yvette didn’t know how to get another taxi.
The air-conditioning in the car was also out, and Yvette felt very uncomfortable sitting in the stuffy car.
So she got out of the car and called her driver.
As expected, it would take about an hour to co here.
Tonight, the ways to the north were all congested, but going south would be smooth.
Before Yvette could stand on the side of the road, she saw a Maybach stop.
The car window rolled down, and Lance’s handso face was revealed. He was expressionless and said coldly, "Get in the car."
His tone was condescending.
Yvette did not know why she was so unlucky tonight to et him so many tis.
The night was deep and cold. Yvette did not wear much when she went out. The tip of her nose was frozen red.
Yvette looked more delicate and attractive in the cold wind.
"No need."
Yvette acted as if she was not familiar with Lance. She took a few steps forward. There was a bus station in front of them, but Yvette had missed the last bus.
However, there were surveillance caras at the bus station, so it was safe for Yvette to stay.
So, she decided to sit there and wait for her driver.
The Maybach followed behind her and stopped at the bus station.
After Yvette sat down, Lance got out of the car and walked up to her in a few steps.
"Get in the car. Do you want to invite you?"
The last ti they t, Lance did not say a word to her at all.
This ti, there was no Juliette by his side, so Lance could talk to her.
Yvette would not resort to revenge after being treated coldly. Moreover, she and Lance were not close anymore, so there was no need to get angry.
Yvette refused, "The driver is coming."
Unexpectedly, Lance refused to give up. He said indifferently, "It’s hard to get a car here tonight. How long are you going to sit here?"
"It’s fine. It shouldn’t be long."
Before she finished speaking, Yvette felt a pain in her arm. Lance grabbed her wrist and pulled her up.
Intentionally or not, Lance pulled the place where Stephen held Yvette at night.
"What are you doing?"
Yvette felt that it was inexplicable. The one who distanced himself from Yvette was Lance, but now he seed to care about her.
After walking two steps, Lance felt it was inconvenient, and thus he picked Yvette up and put her into the car. Then, he went into the back seat.
Lance had just sat down when he heard a gust of wind.
Bang!
A bag smashed over. Lance dodged to the side, and the bag smashed the car glass.
The car had already started, and Yvette glared at Lance. "Mr. Wolseley, please let out of the car."
They were now strangers, and Lance was about to get married. Yvette did not want to make so mistakes.
She didn’t want to sit in the car of a man with a fiancée.
Lance was expressionless and said sothing completely unrelated.
"Stephen is not suitable for you."
Yvette knew that he thought that Stephen was her boyfriend.
But it had nothing to do with Lance.
It was Lance who had abandoned her. He was tired of Yvette.
It was also Lance who had announced that he was going to get married.
What he said just now sounded very funny.
Yvette pursed her lips and did not even have the desire to explain.
Lance seed to have co prepared. He took out a stack of docunts and threw it in Yvette’s hand, saying, "Their family is the second most powerful family in Iceland. The younger generation is responsible for reproduction. Every man in their family must marry more than four wives. Can you bear it?"
Yvette frowned. She did not expect him to investigate Stephen.
Stephen had a good relationship with Marlon. Marlon thought Stephen was trustworthy, so he introduced her to Stephen.
Moreover, Stephen had always wanted to leave his family and beco independent.
However, there was no need to explain this to Lance, and Yvette had never thought of getting married again.
"Are you done?" Yvette didn’t even look at the docunts as she said indifferently, "Please let get out of the car after you finish speaking."
Lance pinched the paper, and the veins on the back of his hand bulged. He sneered, "You don’t even mind this?"
"I believe in Stephen." Yvette didn’t want to talk to him.
"He doesn’t deserve you," Lance insisted.
"Mr. Wolseley, what are you doing now?" Yvette didn’t understand Lance and asked him with a smile, "Are you choosing a partner for your ex-wife?"
Lance’s expression changed a little, and he said in a low voice, "We used to be a couple. I don’t want you to go astray."
Yvette only felt that it was ironic. "Mr. Wolseley, you worry too much. I’m not desperately lonely. I am an adult. I have my own choice, and I can distinguish between right and wrong. I will believe in my choice.
"When it cos to going astray, our marriage led astray."
Lance had made Yvette suffer a lot over and over again.
She believed that no other man would make her as sad as she used to be.
"Do you have to choose him?" Lance asked with a stern expression.
"I don’t need you to worry about . Please let out of the car now. I don’t want anyone to misunderstand." Yvette did not want to talk with him.
After all, Lance was about to beco a married man.
Yvette didn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore.
Lance looked at Yvette coldly and said, "You think Stephen is gentle and elegant, but he was born in such a barbaric family. How can he be pure and innocent? He wants to live in another place. But have you ever thought about it? Once his mbership in the Parker family and the past of his family are exposed, it will be difficult for Stephen to establish a foothold in a new place.
"If that’s the case, he will choose to return to his family in Iceland. At that ti, he will have more wives. Are you so willing to share a husband with so many won?"
Yvette did not expect Lance to say so many things. It was very impolite to discuss people’s affairs behind their backs.
Moreover, Lance had been biased and spoke ill of Stephen.
"This is my business. Even if I make a wrong decision, it is my fault. I can bear it myself."
Lance did not expect Yvette to be so stubborn. Just like when she loved him wholeheartedly, she was now wholeheartedly loving another man.
This made Lance feel as if his heart was being kneaded, and he was in great pain.
Other than pain, Lance couldn’t help feeling jealous.
He sneered, "It seems that you really love Stephen. Since you don’t care about it, you don’t mind leaving here with him and going to Iceland."
Suddenly, Yvette slapped Lance.
Before Lance could finish his sentence, his face got red and swollen.
Yvette raised her hand and couldn’t bear it any longer. "Lance, who are you threatening? Are you happy when I don’t have a good ti? Do you want to force everyone around away?
"I rember everything you said to clearly. I never bother you, and I stay away from you. I have already done what you said. What else do you want?"
Yvette’s eyes were red. She grabbed Lance’s shirt and tore several buttons. She was on the verge of a breakdown and said word by word, "Do you really want to live a miserable life?"
Yvette was about to go crazy. All the grievances that she had suffered for so long poured out at this mont.
"Say sothing!"
Hearing this, Lance was at a loss. His lips moved. Just as he wanted to say sothing, he saw Yvette open the window of the car and was about to jump out of the window.
