Carolline felt completely at a loss for words and didn’t know what to say to Lucy about all this. Was this woman not sensitive to the context at all when she spoke?
“Did you listen to what I said? I’m warning you, Matilda Ferguson is really eyeing your man.” Thinking of Matilda’s shaless behavior, Lucy wanted Carolline to move faster so they could witness so juicy facial expressions from Matilda.
“Alright, I’m busy right now and don’t have ti to chat with you. Let’s leave it at that.” Carolline hung up the phone without much ceremony.
“…” Listening to the dial tone, Lucy couldn’t help but feel upset that Carolline had simply hung up on her.
She had co to this event in their Entertainnt Circle today, thinking that Matilda would feel too embarrassed to show up at such a public event after being treated the way she had been by Bryan Hawkins. However, she had underestimated Matilda’s thick skin.
“Matilda really has so nerve.” Seeing Matilda showing up on George Morris’s arm, Lucy’s companion couldn’t believe her eyes and exclaid in surprise.
“Well, how could she not? If she wasn’t so thick-skinned, could she have easily crawled into soone else’s bed and overshadow our Lucy?” Another companion echoed, knowing that Lucy didn’t like Matilda, so naturally, they didn’t like her either.
This was the survival rule in the Entertainnt Circle: Lucy wasn’t an ordinary celebrity. With soone as powerful as Jordy Wade backing her, not only did her agent need to please her, but many investors dared not underestimate her.
Matilda was truly clueless. She had used such sinister ans to win against Lucy, so of course, Lucy would hold a grudge. Matilda’s future days would definitely not be pleasant, and if she crossed Jordy Wade, it would be even worse – almost impossible for her to make a na for herself in the Entertainnt Circle.
Knowing Lucy’s background, everyone could guess that Matilda would not have an easy journey ahead. But this woman seed not to realize who she had offended.
“Enough with the chatter.” Lucy tily stopped her sycophantic companions. Her brother’s success was the reason she had been held in such high esteem by others, so she knew where she stood with them.
They were just a bunch of people who wanted to see a good fight, and Lucy was no clown to get into a conflict with soone like Matilda for their amusent.
Lucy’s only true friend was Carolline, and as her big brother’s empire continued to expand, Lucy knew that she had fewer and fewer sincere friends. She wouldn’t be foolish to give her trust to soone else.
Nevertheless, since Carolline liked Bryan Cooper, Lucy was determined to help her achieve her wish.
Lucy glanced at Matilda, then looked away. Such a despicable woman wasn’t worthy of her attention.
Matilda, of course, noticed her. Sohow, she and Lucy had beco arch enemies. How could she not know about Lucy’s powerful family background? Especially her big brother Jordy Wade, who was a business genius, a rising comrcial star that everyone envied and resented.
Jordy was only interested in his sister and doted on her dearly, which made many won who pursued him try to win over Lucy.
She had tried to befriend Lucy, but the woman was infuriatingly stubborn, always acting against her as if it were a natural rivalry.
She let go of George Morris’s arm, and he looked at her in surprise. “What’s wrong?”
“I see an acquaintance. I’m going to say hello.” Matilda pursed her lips, recalling that Lucy had vowed to steal Bryan from her. Even though Bryan had clearly not cooperated, she couldn’t believe Lucy could still have confidence after finding out about her history with Bryan.
“Go ahead.” George didn’t say anything else. He had been accustod to spoiling her when he had fallen for her. Now that they were allies, he wouldn’t stop her, as long as it didn’t hurt his interests.
Matilda approached Lucy, and Lucy’s friends hurriedly warned her. However, Lucy remained calm, turning to face Matilda. The woman was indeed attractive and had a great figure, but her heart was too cold. If not for that, she would have been perfect.
When Matilda arrived in front of Lucy, the others left. In front of Matilda, they were nobodies, and she wouldn’t even glance at them. Even if they wanted to help Lucy, they had to weigh the chances of running into Matilda in the future – she was a very vengeful person.

“Miss Lucy, didn’t you promise to steal Bryan away? How co he’s not with you today?” Matilda was intentionally provoking Lucy. She had made such a big fuss in front of her, but never truly considered if she had the ability to do it.
“Well, I did take him away, but I never said I would do it personally, did I? After snatching him, I can still give him to soone who truly deserves him, right, beautiful Matilda?”
Lucy enjoyed watching Matilda’s face turn paler with every word, reveling in her embarrassnt and despair.
