Leon was running and jumping through the rooftops of the tall buildings. He was wearing a hoodie that was covering his head and a mask that was covering his face.
He wasn't even thinking twice before making a jump of more than 5 ters.
He only had one thing in mind, and that was to get the cake from the shop and reach Layla before the clock hit 0:00.
When he was running on a horizontally long building, he noticed that the building that usually ca after wasn't there.
'Where did it go?!"
Leon's gaze fell down on the other side of the street and saw a construction board.
"Are you saying that they demolished the entire 30 story building in one day?!" Leon exclaid.
Earlier in the morning, Leon had already marked all the possible escape routes in case sothing went wrong. He had also calculated the number of buildings and the speed he required to run. And now that one building was demolished, his entire escape route and the calculation failed.
"What should I do now?" Leon asked himself without slowing down.
Even if Leon tried to stop himself, he wouldn't be able to stop in ti and fall from the top of the thirty-story building. And if he fell, his legs would definitely break. He won't die, but his bones would chatter, and Leon didn't have the ability to heal his broken bones.
However, instead of stopping or slowing down, Leon increased his speed and jumped on the next building, which was 12 ters away from him.
He handed on top of that building and imdiately dropped to his knees.
He caught his breath and looked at his legs, which were trembling because of heavy trauma stress.
"I need to do sothing about my legs…" Leon muttered. "I want to install artificial ones, but that will cost a lot of money."
Leon didn't have any saved-up money with him. Sure, he had so money in his father's bank account, but he was saving them for Layla and her daily needs.
"I need to find soone rich, so I can rob them," Leon declared.
He slowly got up and drank Ida's milk from the bottle.
"So my guess was true," Leon asserted. "Her milk is truly recharging my superpowers."
Leon ran for 2 minutes and reached the cake shop, but as expected, it was closed.
"Fuuuuuuuck! Leon yelled on top of his lungs.
He imdiately took out his phone and dialed the number from the cake shop's board.
After a couple of rings, the shop owner finally picked up the call.
[Hello?]
"Ah, yes. I was supposed to get my cake today. Can you co to the shop and give it to ?" Leon asked sincerely because he didn't want the owner to say no.
[Hah?! Do you know what ti it is?! I gave you the ti of evening to pick up, but you didn't co. Now you can get it tomorrow morning at 9 AM!] the shop owner not only refused Leon but also yelled at him.
Leon frowned his face and said, "Your daughter is supposed to co back from the trip tonight, right? I wonder if she can help out."
After a brief silence, the shop owner said, [I will be at the shop in 5 minutes. Please wait.]
"Co here within two minutes, or you will lose your shop too," Leon ordered.
Then, he hung up the call and sighed, "Why are people like this? I first asked him humbly, but he refused. But when I threatened him, he said yes like a dog."
Of course, Leon didn't even know who the shopkeeper's daughter was, nor had he ever seen her in his life.
However, when Leon ca to the shop last week to order the cake for Layla's birthday, the shop owner received a call from his daughter where she inford him about the trip. At that ti, the shopkeeper had asked her when and at what ti she would be back.
Leon simply happened to that conversation, and he used it to threaten the shop owner. He just happened to be at the right place at the right ti.
The shopkeeper arrived shortly and gave the special-ordered cake to Leon.
Leon had already paid 50% in advance when he ca to order the cake. But he didn't pay the rest and ran away.
Leon wanted to kill the shop owner, but he didn't have a single second to waste.
Leon ran as fast as he could and made sure to keep the cake in a stable position in his bag.
After running for 3 minutes, he reached his house and pressed the doorbell of the house.
After a minute or two, Layla opened the door and greeted Leon with a wide grin on her face.
She hugged Leon and said, "Soone is early this weekend."
"Let's go in." Leon entered the house and placed the bag and the cake on the couch.
Layla gazed at the cake box and said, "Is it what I think it is?"
Leon smiled and kissed Layla on the lips before saying, "You will find out soon enough."
Layla hugged Leon and said, "I missed you so so much."
"Yet, you never even called once," Leon remarked with a frowned face.
"Well…" Layla averted her gaze and said, "I was busy playing gas."
"I see…" Leon nodded with a disappointed look on his face and said, "So gas are now more important than , huh?"
"No!" Layla hugged Leon tightly and said, "Leon is the most important."
"But you chose gas over ."
"You also didn't call , not even once," Layla retorted.
GROWL~
Suddenly, Leon's stomach growled in hunger.
Layla looked up at Leon and asked, "Are you hungry?"
"Well, yes," Leon replied. "I haven't eaten in a day."
Layla let go of Leon and said, "I will cook sothing for you real quick."
Leon grabbed Layla's hand and pulled her close to him. Then, he carried her in his arms and said, "I am hungry for sothing else."
