The annual talent recruitnt competition was open to the public, welcoming participants from all backgrounds. The judging panel focused solely on talent and the potential for stardom.

Sixteen-year-old Shang Ruohai easily shone above the rest thanks to handso appearance, coupled with a tall and slender build.

Additionally, he also inherited his mother’s talent for acting.

Faced with such a bright, promising prospect, naturally no talent recruiters were willing to bypass him.

Before the competition result was announced, they all surrounded Shang Ruohai, pushing their cards into the youth’s hands while introducing themselves at the sa ti.

"Shang Ruohai, we are from CNC Studio, the biggest entertainnt company in the country!" The talent recruiter from CNC Studio loudly said, only to receive a scoff from another recruiter.

"Biggest? Don’t make laugh. Shang Ruohai, if you want to make it big out there, join Yunhuan Entertainnt!"

The two recruiters glared at each other for a split second before they redirected their focus back on Shang Ruohai.

It would be a sha if they lost a potential actor just because of a petty feud on the site.

Many more entertainnt companies, although incomparable in size to the aforentioned two companies, made Shang Ruohai their offers.

In the end, Shang Ruohai returned ho with a box of na cards.

His mother, who did not expect less of her son, grinned from ear to ear as she sifted through the box.

"Well? Did you win?"

Shang Ruohai nodded.

"First place."

As a straight-A student, Shang Ruohai was used to do well in exams and competitions, but he was still mildly surprised to win, considering that he did not have any noteworthy acting experience in the past.

"Hahaha..."

His mother pushed out two na cards.

One stood for CNC Studio, the other for Yunhuan Entertainnt.

"These two are the best in term of grooming new talents," his mother pointed out. "But if you want to prove yourself to your father, you have to join CNC Studio."

That was the start of everything, so Shang Ruohai mused twenty years later.

Twenty years of hard work as he carved a path for himself to the peak of the entertainnt industry with his own hands and feet, relying on his mother as his sole support.

Twenty years until he reached this point.

Until he erged victorious from this scuffle between half-brothers.

"Second Young Master Shang," Secretary Chen’s voice was heard behind him. "The banquet is starting soon."

The woman stood at the doorfra, her figure a stark silhouette against the brightly lit corridor.

Shang Ruohai tugged at his necktie in discomfort.

"Coming," he said curtly.

Tonight was his big night, the 100th anniversary of CNC Studio. It was the night when the new CEO of CNC Studio should be announced, following Shang Xiaoyi’s official resignation from the post.

But why must this important event take place in the sa venue with the blasted party from four years ago?

It was almost like soone was planning sothing insidious with him in mind.

Shang Ruohai took a deep breath and expelled the air slowly before he turned on his heel and marched toward his secretary.

"Let’s go," he said.

It was nothing but paranoia, stemming from his anxiety for tonight’s announcent.

Yes, that must be it.

Before the banquet began, the hall was bathed in a soft, ethereal glow, with dancing overhead lights casting an inviting ambiance for guests and staff.

The massive wall behind the stage served as a dramatic backdrop, illuminated by the bold proclamation -- "CNC Studio’s 100th Anniversary".

Flanking this grand announcent, left and right, were two grand television screens showcasing a captivating montage of clips from the entertainnt company’s most successful projects.

As Shang Ruohai made his way from the entrance to his seat, various people rose to their feet to greet him.

"Shang Ruohai, congratulations," they said while shaking his hand. "You have worked hard all these years."

"CNC Studio is going to prosper in your capable hands."

Shang Ruohai acknowledged their words with a gracious smile and a polite "thank you". Any further response, he understood, risked being perceived as arrogant and overconfident. Conversely, a briefer acknowledgnt might have been seen as a display of poor manners.

The higher people climbed, the more ferocious the wind howled, threatening to tear them from the mountainside. A single misstep, a montary lapse of focus, could send them plumting into the abyss below.

Thus when climbing to a new level, identifying and addressing potential dangers was paramount.

One such potential dangers was currently coming onto him, wearing a charismatic smile across his handso face.

"Shang Ruohai, big night, hm?"

"...Feng Jieyun."

A layer of ice inadvertently glazed Shang Ruohai’s eyes.

During the past four years, thanks to their positions in the entertainnt industry, it was practically impossible not to not get entangled with each other.

Feng Jieyun held two glasses of wine in his hands.

At first, he was about to offer Shang Ruohai a glass, but when he looked at the latter’s sour face, he quickly retracted his hand.

"Why so tense?" He asked with a little laugh.

It did not amuse Shang Ruohai at all.

He held his nose high and snorted.

"I am not."

"Calm down," Feng Jieyun said in a low voice. "I haven’t even seen Shang Ruohan around. You have already won the ga. Just relax."

"..."

Relax?

The last ti he relaxed around Feng Jieyun, he almost lost everything he worked so hard for.

Shang Ruohai cleared his throat.

"What are you doing here?"

Feng Jieyun arched a brow at him quizzically.

"It is imperative for representatives from other entertainnt companies to be present when the next CEO of CNC Studio is about to be announced, don’t you think so?"

He recalled Shang Xiaoyi paying their Yunhuan Entertainnt similar respect back when Feng Jieyun was nad the next CEO of Yunhuan.

A complicated expression spread on Shang Ruohai’s face.

"Anyway, I told you not to get too close to . Especially tonight."

He soon stalked away, leaving Feng Jieyun behind.

Feng Jieyun sighed inwardly.

He then raised his wine glass at the other man’s retreating figure.

"Best of luck," he whispered.
