Shen Jingwei reflexively raised a hand to block the water from scalding his face. Thanks to that, his eyes were spared but so of the water still splashed onto his chin and neck.
"What the hell are you doing!!!" Shen Dou Dou shot to her feet and shoved Song Xiaoling.
"Don’t raise your voice at , you vixen!" Song Xiaoling cried out. Her hand whipped through the air, ready to strike Shen Dou Dou.
But before the slap could land, her wrist was caught by Shen Jingwei, who positioned himself between the two won with remarkable agility.
"I did not push charges against your father to save my boyfriend so face," he hissed against Shen Xiaoling’s face. "I also will not push charge for your assaulting just now, but I will for sure sue your ass for harming a single hair on my people’s head."
Song Xiaoling was stunned to silence.
Shen Dou Dou whimpered against Shen Jingwei’s back.
"Big Brother," she whined. "Big Brother, who is this dragon lady?"
Song Xiaoling’s eyes widened in shock as her gaze drifted between Shen Jingwei and Shen Dou Dou.
"Big Brother?" She repeated in disbelief.
"You are siblings?"
Shen Jingwei released Song Xiaoling’s wrist with a scowl.
"I don’t want to say this openly, but do you Songs like to act first and only ask questions later?"

The cake shop’s manager rushed toward the center of commotion in a hurry.
When he saw Shen Jingwei, drenched from the cup of warm water, he almost fainted on the spot.
"Song Xiaoling!" He hollered. "What’s wrong with you??? Why did you attack a guest?"
"I... I..." Song Xiaoling was unable to answer. Her stamring did not help her case at all.
Shen Jingwei scoffed.
"I would like to pay the bill now, please," he announced.
"No need!" The manager cried out. "Young man, please allow to cover for your laundry bill! Song Xiaoling, I will deduct your wage for this!"
"No need," Shen Jingwei snorted in disdain. "Dou Dou, let’s go."
Shen Jingwei did not bother reporting the matter to Yan Renzhong, but Yan Renzhong did find out in the end.
He made a point to show up at the Shen family’s rented house close to dinner ti that night, right after he finished his work.
Shen Jingwei was naturally stunned to find him at the door.
"What are you... Ufff..."
Yan Renzhong pulled Shen Jingwei into a hug and kissed him before he started inspecting Shen Jingwei’s face.
"Let see. Are you alright? Does it sting anywhere?"
"I put cold towel on my face for hours. I am fine."
Yan Renzhong sighed.
"I am so sorry, Jingbao. Xiaoling isn’t answering my ssages, but she can’t avoid forever. I am going to give her a piece of my mind for sure," he said through gritted teeth.
"In a way, she did it for your sake," Shen Jingwei said. "She thought that Dou Dou was my girlfriend."

Yan Renzhong heaved another sigh.
"Still, it’s no reason to resort to violence. I am going to make her apologize to you properly."
"Mmm."
Shen Jingwei was well aware of Song Xiaoling’s distaste for him. That’s why Shen Jingwei tended to steal away from Yan Renzhong’s apartnt when Song Xiaoling dropped by to deliver and pick up Song Yaya.
Less interaction was supposed to minimize conflicts.
He just didn’t expect Song Xiaoling to still hate him so much, even after weeks of not seeing each other.
"I brought so ointnt for burns," Yan Renzhong held up a bag. "Can I co in?"
Shen Jingwei laughed.
"You can co in with or without ointnt," he said while dragging Yan Renzhong into the house.
"Oh, is Little Yan here?" Mother Shen called out from the kitchen.
"Yes, Auntie, sorry for intruding."
"Nonsense. You ca at the right ti. I was about to ask Jingwei to invite you for dinner."
Tonight’s dinner was family hotpot, courtesy of Mother Shen.
In light of today’s unfavorable encounter with Song Xiaoling, Shen Dou Dou who did not know anything about Song Xiaoling’s connection to Yan Renzhong had a lot to say.
"Brother Yan, I tell you, that dragon lady is so horrible! Thankfully the water is not scalding hot. Otherwise what will happen to my brother’s handso face! Ow!"
Shen Jingwei covertly stepped on his sister’s foot under the table.
Yan Renzhong’s lips were twisted into a bitter smile.
"I am so sorry," he said. "It is all my fault. The woman who attacked Jingwei is my stepsister by my late mother’s second marriage. I am deeply apologetic on her behalf."
Shen Dou Dou’s jaw fell open in amazent.
"Brother Yan, why was your stepsister so fierce? I know that I am a rare beauty from ninth heaven, but she could have asked first before inflicting harm upon anyone! Owww!"
Shen Jingwei stepped on her foot again, and this ti he also glared at her.
"I agree," Yan Renzhong readily supplied. "I am going to have a serious talk with her, please do not doubt ."
Mother Shen looked at Yan Renzhong and Shen Jingwei alternately.
"This... Well, I hope that the misunderstanding has been resolved properly."
"Either way, Brother Yan, your stepsister hard my brother. You need to take responsibility for my brother!" Shen Dou Dou piped up. This ti, she managed to remove her legs out of Shen Jingwei’s attack range in ti.
As if on cue, Yan Renzhong chose that ti to show off the white gold ring adorning his finger.
"Rest assured," he said with a confident smug that made Shen Jingwei want to smack his face with a pillow. "I am going to assu full responsibility over Jingwei."
The table exploded from the Shen ladies’ surprised cries.
"BROTHER YAN, I WANT TO SEE THAT RING!" Shen Dou Dou shouted.
"Jingwei, where is yours? Why are you not wearing any?" Mother Shen demanded.
Shen Jingwei, red all over, pursed his lips at Yan Renzhong, who had the cheek to flash him a shaless grin.
