At Shen Dou Dou’s young age, she had been courting death at nurous occasions, but the young lady never learned.
Impressively, she gained defensive skills to resist Shen Jingwei’s scorching glares instead.

The most important thing to do right now was dishing out a believable explanation for his and Yan Renzhong’s cohabitative situation.
"Mom, my old apartnt is going to be renovated soon, so the owner refused to extend the lease. I was unable to move out in ti because I was busy with filming."

The landlord did send out renovation notice to all residents months ago, reminding them to move out as soon as their lease period was up.
But Shen Jingwei’s lease period was not due until several months later. He left early because Yan Renzhong emptied his apartnt within a single day, going as far as handling the apartnt handover in his absence.
"Is that so..."
Mother Shen gaped at her son.
Behind her mother’s back, Shen Dou Dou offered her elder brother a knowing grin.
"Thus Yan Renzhong offered a place to stay until I am able to find an apartnt of my own."
Mother Shen blinked at Shen Jingwei.
"I guess it’s fine, but... Jingwei, you haven’t inconvenienced Yan Renzhong in any way, right?"
Mother Shen’s gratitude toward Yan Renzhong’s help in the past was as vast as the ocean. In her eyes, Yan Renzhong was probably a saint, forever bathed in ethereal golden light that stread from the sky.

"In that case, let Mom cook up a birthday feast for you! Yan Renzhong wouldn’t mind, would he?"
"No," Shen Jingwei answered. He rubbed at his forehead, trying hard to dispel the agonizing headache between his brows. "No, he won’t be back for two days."
Or so he said.
"Alright. Good. Dou Dou, help out in the kitchen."
Mother Shen ca prepared with a lot of ingredients.
The fresh ones had been bought before she and Dou Dou even arrived at Shen Jingwei’s old apartnt.
Shen Jingwei was touched to tears.
"Mom, you don’t have to," he said. "You must be so tired. Why don’t you rest? I can order so food online..."
Mother Shen shook her head resolutely. She wrinkled her forehead when she caught sight of the ss in the living room.
She deduced the dinner nu by checking out the crumbs that remained in the food containers.
"Two n celebrating birthday together with a box of sushi, so junk foods, cake, and alcoholic beverage? Jingwei, I thought I raised you better. Now clear up the table. I am going to make you healthy, nutritious food for your birthday!"
"..."
Aching and groaning from the pain inwardly, Shen Jingwei began clearing the table.
He took the ti to send Zhu Dongyi an urgent ssage.
"Old Zhu, I am so sorry, I can’t make it to the studio today. Please apologize to the entire production team on my behalf. I will give Director Ma a call and apologize to him personally."
The answer ca rather abrupt.
"Little Shen, Happy Birthday! No worries, Manager Wen has already inford everyone in location that you are not feeling well. Please take good care of yourself and rest! Hopefully you will feel better tomorrow!"
Shen Jingwei heaved a sigh of relief.
Well, at least Yan Renzhong was still able to work. Otherwise, imagine the chaos that might ensue.
Lunch was spent in an intimate familial atmosphere, with the three people exchanging recent updates about their lives.
"Big Brother, I have received admission letter to a manhua college of my choice!" Shen Dou Dou happily reported. "I am going to move to this city next week!"
Shen Jingwei’s chopsticks froze in mid-air as astonishnt washed over him.
"You are?"
This was the first ti he heard of it.
"Since both Jingwei and Dou Dou are going to reside here, Mom is thinking of moving into the city as well," Mother Shen said. "Jingwei, it turns out that you have yet to find an apartnt on your own. Why don’t we rent a house together?"

Shen Jingwei swallowed hard.
That would be the logical course of action, but...
Reluctance filled Shen Jingwei’s heart when he thought about moving out. After living together for so ti, he had gotten used to having Yan Renzhong around. It didn’t matter how fleeting their daily interactions were.
