The next outdoor shooting location for Shen Jingwei required him and Zhu Dongyi to travel another eight hours with car. This ti around, Zhu Dongyi was a lot happier.
First of all, the road leading to their destination was not as empty as the previous one because it was close to an amusent park.
Cars kept coming and going, carrying various park visitors.
And because it was close to an amusent park, the surrounding area prospered into a town, allowing them to tank their gas, take a break, and indulge in a satisfying warm al.
Second of all, they were accompanied by a trailer, loaded with filming equipnt and six dedicated crew mbers who liked to have fun.
While one of them focused on driving the trailer, the other five enjoyed the best ti of their lives playing gas and watching TV.
They even offered to ride Zhu Dongyi’s car and invited Shen Jingwei and Zhu Dongyi into the trailer for so entertainnt.
Third of all, after the first two hours of their trip, a crew mber received so news from his colleague.
"Everyone, Old Han just sent so news. The shooting at Dry Bone Ridge is going to be delayed for approximately five to seven hours," said crew announced when they were enjoying their dinner at a seafood barbecue stall.
"It is?" Another crew mber piped up.
"Yeah, the other actor’s flight is delayed," the first crew mber explained. "Apparently they can’t fly due to bad weather."
The table broke into a cheer. Two crew mbers even began drumming on the table, almost sending a plate of shrimps to the ground.
Shen Jingwei saved it just in ti.
"This is an excellent news! Now we can relax a little on our way. We don’t have to rush at all."
"Five to seven hours is a lot of ti."
"We can stop at a nearby scenic spot to watch the sunrise," a crew mber suggested. "It is very beautiful, I assure you all. I grew up here."
And so at dawn, the trailer and car arrived at the idyllic location. The rising sun painted the sky in vibrant hues, creating a perfect backdrop for enjoying a steaming cup of coffee and a flaky croissant.
Shen Jingwei took out his phone and captured the beautiful scenery through the lenses, only to send it to Yan Renzhong.
"Good morning, Yan Renzhong," he wrote to Yan Renzhong. "Have you arrived at Peak Point Shooting Studio?"
The answer ca five minutes later.
"Good morning, Jingbao," followed by a picture of clouds drifting outside a plane window.
"..."
Shen Jingwei : "For once I want to brag about the beautiful sunrise, but I fail miserably *unhappy emoji*."
Yan Renzhong : "*laughing emoji* There are so change of plans. I have to spend two days abroad for a quick re-shoot. And then I will go back to Peak Point Shooting Studio to shoot the swamp scene. We will et again in a week to end the act."
Shen Jingwei : "Mm, I miss you already."
Yan Renzhong : "Don’t forget to eat your breakfast. Keep yourself warm."
Shen Jingwei : "Yes Mom."
Yan Renzhong : "Don’t make spank you, Little Shen."
Shen Jingwei inadvertently broke into a giggle, making the others look at him out of curiosity.
"Oh, it’s nothing. I saw a funny cat video," Shen Jingwei lied.
The group took several pictures with each other and posted them in their WeChat monts.
Shen Jingwei’s WeChat was quickly flooded by a torrent of likes.
Shen Dou Dou : "QAQ Big Brother! Please do not forget your cute little sister when you are traveling to a new place! She wants the newest ’Dance Of The Dragons’ rchandise!"
"..."
Did Shen Dou Dou think that he was traveling around to promote the drama or what? What rchandise? He didn’t have a single one!
Shen Jingwei : "I will buy you a sparkly teddy bear keychain and you will be more than grateful."
Shen Dou Dou : "*saluting emoji* Yes, Your Majesty!"
And then she sent Shen Jingwei her newest creation -- an artistic digital drawing featuring Shen Jingwei and Yan Renzhong in wedding attires, sharing a passionate kiss.
Shen Jingwei almost vomited blood on the spot.
Shen Jingwei : "Shen Dou Dou! I forbid you from making this kind of drawing, ever again!"
His cheeky little sister left him on read, and there was nothing he could do about it.
After two more hours, they finally arrived at their destination, the desolate, barren area known as Dry Bone Ridge.
A wooden board hung at the entrance, detailing its grueso history. Apparently, it used to serve as a warzone, where thousands of innocent lives were lost.
Once the war was over and the governnt planned to utilize the land, they found that it was unsuitable for either habitation or cultivation.
"A miasma of decay hung heavy in the air, tainted by the mournful cries of restless spirits.
The water, once pure and clear, now ran crimson like blood, a stark testant to the horrors that had transpired.
The soil, once fertile and nourishing, was now a festering mass, reeking of death and decay.
The air was thick with the wailing of lost souls, unable to find peace in the realm between life and death."
...
"Why does it feel like entering a haunted area?" Shen Jingwei mumbled.
"It is," a crew mber confird. "That’s why we asked temple priests to co here and perform a purification ritual."
The five temple priests, garbed in ancient ceremonial robes, shook their staffs as they moved between the eight wind directions, causing the bronze bells at their tips to chi.
Eyes squeezed shut in concentration, they kept chanting sutras to drive away the malignant, evil entities.
An altar had been erected at the center, where a huge pile of paper money was burned to appease the wronged souls.
Next to Shen Jingwei, soone whistled and said, "Wow, this is the first ti I see such ritual with my own eyes."
Shen Jingwei chuckled.
"Sa."
He turned his head to look at the person who just spoke, and ca face-to-face with Wu Jin.
"Hello, Shen Jingwei," the singer flashed Shen Jingwei a toothy smile. "We et again."
