Benny Palr’s physical appearance could be said to rival that of Christopher Hart, or perhaps even surpass him. Although this guy’s features weren’t as sharply defined, he appeared more gentle and approachable. Just by the first impression alone, he might be even more eye-catching than Christopher Hart.

That’s why quite a few girls at the workplace had their eyes on him, daydreaming.

Alia Garcia walked over, smiled politely, and greeted, "Young Master Palr."

At this point, she couldn’t pretend not to recognize him.

Benny Palr was quite good about it, not exposing her, and instead, he asked, "Miss Norton, may I have a word with you in private?"

Alia Garcia gestured with her hand and led him to the conference room.

"Sorry, the place is small, we don’t have a dedicated reception room," she continued to be polite.

Benny Palr sat down, smiled, and said, "This place of yours is really nice. I admire you. Initially, you could only follow behind Christopher, blushing when talking to strangers. You were holed up at ho for three years after getting married, and now, you’ve beco a boss in your own right, having established such a good jewelry brand."

Alia Garcia modestly replied, "It’s all due to luck, finding good partners."

Actually, during those three years confined to her ho, she never gave up on her expertise, diligently studying and learning.

Benny Palr inquired, "So you and your partner, are you actually in a romantic relationship? Any plans to get married?"

Alia Garcia’s smile stiffened slightly, thinking to herself that he’d co all this way just to ask her that?

Shaw brought in tea, which she took and personally placed a cup in front of Benny Palr, using the opportunity to ask, "Did he send you to pry?"

"No no, don’t misunderstand," Benny Palr repeatedly denied, absentmindedly tapping the edge of the teacup, and honestly said, "I’ve co to you on my own, he doesn’t know."

Alia Garcia was surprised, "You’re looking for ? What for?"

"You could say it’s a mix of business and personal matters."

Alia Garcia was even more puzzled.

"These days, the matters that have transpired among you folks have been manipulated by those with ulterior motives, creating a sensation. It’s caused a significant impact on both Christopher’s personal reputation and the company’s standing. Of course, it has also brought you a lot of trouble and inconvenience."

Benny Palr took a sip of tea and sighed when he put down the cup.

"You know what Christopher’s like—once he has made up his mind about sothing, he won’t listen to others. These past few days, several projects at the company have encountered problems. I’ve been working overti, but still can’t keep up."

"Last night... he rushed to the neighboring city overnight, worked all night, and then went straight to the hospital in the morning. Today, he was supposed to et with a few other bosses, but when I called him an hour ago, he said he needed to be with Hope and couldn’t leave..."

Benny Palr took another sip of tea, his tone saturated with reluctance.

"I know children are the most important, but we can’t just neglect the company matters either. At his young age, he sits at this high position—not to ntion whether the uncles in the Hart family harbor any designs on it, but the old foxes on the board, there are plenty who want to take his place."

"Already, due to his personal reasons, the company has suffered losses. Now that he’s adopted this indifferent attitude, the higher-ups at the company are increasingly dissatisfied with him."

Alia Garcia listened quietly without speaking.

But deep down, she had already understood the purpose of Benny Palr’s visit.

"You an, you want to persuade him?" She forced a smile, "Young Master Palr, you think too highly of . Four years ago, I was already a divorced woman, and now, I have even less right to interfere in his affairs."

Benny Palr said, "I know you might not necessarily be able to persuade him, but at the very least, could you take care of Hope a bit more? Let him free up so ti to sort out these company troubles, at least to placate the staff and calm the old foxes’ grudges."

Alia Garcia fell silent, a slight frown creasing between her brows.

So he had laid out so much just to make this request.

"Hope is your own daughter, after all. Don’t you feel regret for missing out on four years? Now the child needs you, and it just so happens you’re back too—it’s such a good opportunity..."

Benny Palr watched her, waiting for her to state her position.

Of course, Alia Garcia wanted to take care of her daughter!

But she feared that if she visited Lily Garcia once, she’d cause a scene once, not only would that be embarrassing, but it would also affect Hope’s recovery.

And if Lily were to lose it at so point and harm Hope, the loss would be irreparable.

"Aren’t there enough people in the Hart Family to take care of Hope? What about Aunt Harper and the bodyguard?" Alia Garcia was still seeking ntal comfort for herself.

Benny Palr said, "Usually, Aunt Harper and the bodyguard taking care of Hope is fine. But now that Hope has just had major surgery, she definitely needs more ticulous care."

"As for the people of the Hart Family, you should know them too well by now, they... for so reasons, don’t really like Hope. And the elders of the Garcia Family, there’s no need for to tell you their character—Christopher wouldn’t dare to expect them to care for Hope."

Seeing Alia Garcia still hesitant, Benny Palr continued with earnest persuasion.

"In fact, for these past years, Christopher has been both a father and a mother, which hasn’t been easy. When the child was younger and frequently ill, he took care of her personally. It’s only in the last couple of years as Hope grew older that he slowly began to leave her in the care of Aunt Harper and the servants. But whenever he has ti, he keeps Hope by his side."

"He loves Hope dearly and doesn’t trust anyone else. At this mont, aside from you, he wouldn’t feel at ease entrusting Hope to anyone else."

Alia Garcia felt torn.

On one hand, she felt guilty; on the other hand, she felt heartache.

Of course, the heartache was for her daughter.

Hope was so adorable and clever, appealing to everyone, yet she wasn’t accepted by her own grandparents and maternal grandfather.

She’s just a child, so innocent. Why should she bear the burden of the adult world’s cunning and vendettas, the tangled grudges and resentnts!

The eting room fell silent for several minutes, and Benny Palr almost finished his cup of tea before broaching another subject.

"There’s sothing else you’re definitely not aware of."

Alia Garcia glanced up at him.

"Christopher really didn’t want to marry Lily. The reason he’s agreed to marry her now is that a few days ago, Lily and Wendy Hart went to see him together. They had a quarrel, Wendy suddenly took ill, very seriously, and refused treatnt."

Alia Garcia’s eyes widened in astonishnt.

Wendy Hart’s condition was severe, and her refusal of treatnt was tantamount to seeking death.

Her gaze expressed such surprise and confusion.

Benny Palr smiled helplessly and said, "You’re not wrong in what you’re thinking. Wendy used the threat of her own death to force Christopher to keep his promise and marry Lily as soon as possible."

"I heard that it was only after gaining his agreent that Wendy cald down enough to enter the operating room. Under those circumstances, could he have been callous enough to watch his sister die in front of his eyes?"

Alia Garcia’s expression was complex as she looked at Benny, her mouth moved but she didn’t make a sound.

In her mory, Wendy was extrely selfish and spoiled, with a an and harsh disposition.

But had she really risked her life for Lily’s sake?

She had previously looked down on both of them.

Thinking they colluded and sched in complicity.

Now, she seed to have a bit of admiration.

For the sake of each other, they were willing to risk their lives and health. What profound friendship that was!

She was silent for a long while before suddenly bursting out, "Wendy Hart and Lily Garcia would make a better couple."

Benny Palr chuckled, going along with her dark humor, "I couldn’t agree more. It’s incredible, quite magnificent indeed."

Alia Garcia pulled a wry smile and fell silent.

Seeing her struggling, Benny Palr didn’t elaborate further but stood up to check his wristwatch, frowning as he said, "I’m pressed for ti and need to go. I thought of you while on my way to et a client and rushed over impulsively."
