Jacob Garcia instinctively followed up with a question: "What happened?"
Fiona Marshall laughed even more strangely, and after a pause, she said: "He couldn’t wait to marry Chloe Norton, beca the ideal son-in-law for the Norton Family, and was eagerly waiting to beco a father."

"Didn’t my dad ask?"
"Of course he asked, but Chloe Norton refused to say. Once during an argunt, when cornered, Chloe Norton claid that man was already dead."
"Dead?"
"Anyway, that’s what Chloe Norton said. It’s such a shaful thing that Michael Garcia dared not tell anyone and had to go to great lengths to hide it for fear of being discovered. He was extrely upset, and ever since our encounter, he’s co to frequently, always cursing a lot in frustration."
It was only then that Jacob Garcia understood why his mother was so well-inford about these matters.
"So... how did my dad find out Alia wasn’t his biological child?"
Fiona Marshall frowned, thinking for a mont, "It was said... Chloe Norton secretly perford a paternity test on her daughter, and he found out. That’s how he realized the daughter he had been raising for two years wasn’t his own."
Jacob Garcia: "So, from the beginning, Chloe Norton knew the child in her womb wasn’t my dad’s."
"Not necessarily, she probably didn’t even know whose child it really was." Because if she were very certain who the child’s biological father was, there wouldn’t be a need to risk doing a paternity test.
Jacob Garcia thought for a mont and suddenly realized!
"Then, at that ti, when my dad forced her into a wedding, it conveniently helped her hide the scandal of being pregnant before marriage. That’s why she agreed to marry him, right?"
Fiona Marshall said, "Isn’t it? That’s why your dad was infuriated. He thought he had a clever plan, using high-level strategies to rise step by step to success, only to find out he was just a pawn in soone else’s sche, inadvertently becoming a stand-in to raise soone else’s child."
So, Michael Garcia’s mindset collapsed.
He was never a kind-hearted person to begin with, and knowing that he was used and that his wife gave birth to a questionable bastard – he felt utterly humiliated and hated Chloe Norton intensely.
From then on, their marriage, which had no foundation of love to begin with, broke down even more completely.
He used all kinds of despicable ans to tornt Chloe Norton, and refused to divorce while threatening and bribing the Norton family elders, completely taking over the Norton Family’s assets, which angered his father-in-law to death from a heart attack shortly after.
Chloe Norton was heartbroken, turning her grief into indifference, yet she couldn’t fight back against Michael Garcia, this damned person. Continuous emotional abuse and verbal humiliation forced her into depression, ultimately leading her to severe illness.
Jacob Garcia listened to all of this in a daze, as if frightened by his own father’s actions.
After a long while, he murmured to himself, "Retribution... all this is retribution. Even heaven can’t stand it and wants to punish him."
Fiona Marshall stared at her son, "What are you mumbling?"
Jacob Garcia pulled himself together, looked at his mother, and said, "Mom, though you didn’t participate in these things, after marrying into the Garcia Family, you’ve also abused Alia in various ways. Don’t you feel guilty?"

Jacob Garcia never considered himself a good person.
He knew what kind of person he was, irresponsible, uneducated, overambitious, and sly, without much empathy or affection, and his nature was sowhat cold.
Towards Alia, he actually had little sibling affection, purely because he saw she was talented and capable, and thought of cozying up to her, relying on her, at least to secure a decent al and make life a little easier.
He admitted that everything he did had a purpose, and it was all for his own good.
But as such a lazy, selfish, manipulative rascal, upon hearing all this, he also felt his parents had gone too far, the Norton Family were too innocent, and Alia was too wronged!
