Christopher didn’t speak, his expression seed surprised and doubtful.

Alia saw his expression and moved slightly away from his embrace. Earnestly, she said, "Really! I’m not lying to you. If it weren’t true, I wouldn’t be able to make up such a lie!"

Christopher said, "I’m not doubting your words. I’m just suspecting that you were deceived — Chairman Smith of Mandrake is extrely low-key. Even though Mandrake is so famous, there are very few reports about him. How do you know that person is really him?"

"This—" Alia was montarily stumped by his question, paused, and then explained, "Actually, earlier this year, when I just reclaid the courtyard, that person ca looking for . But it wasn’t him personally, it was his secretary. They gave us their business card. Little Jacob and I looked it up online, and it’s definitely him without a doubt."

"But..." Christopher felt sothing was off and was about to speak but was interrupted by her, "Don’t worry, listen to finish. It’s not like Chairman Smith ca today either. He’s on a business trip abroad and couldn’t make it back. It was his son who ca to handle it."

Christopher was even more surprised: "His son?"

"Yes. He’s a doctor. And it really was a coincidence! When Ethan was hospitalized during the New Year, wasn’t it pouring rain that morning when you ca to the hospital? Do you rember I borrowed an umbrella that day? It was the doctor who lent it to !"

Reflecting on these events, Alia’s astonishnt resurfaced, "When I saw him this afternoon, I was shocked too! Considering his family background, doesn’t he inherit the family business? Also, isn’t his family in the Imperial Capital? Why would he co to River City to be a doctor?"

Alia had been pondering these questions on the way back.

But then she thought, everyone has their own pursuits. Maybe he just loves dicine, and his parents are open-minded and don’t interfere with his aspirations— isn’t that quite normal?

Listening to her, Christopher thought for a mont, held her hand, and said, "Later, I’ll have soone look into it."

Alia frowned and smiled, "There’s... no need, right? He’s the one giving money, not the other way around. What’s there to be afraid of? He paid the deposit promptly, a full ten million. He said the remaining ninety million would definitely arrive the day after tomorrow."

Christopher didn’t speak, his eyebrows furrowed slightly, his expression pensive.

When they got ho, the kids had already eaten. Seeing mom and dad return together, the three little ones happily rushed over.

Christopher was about to sit down for dinner when his phone rang.

It was too noisy in the dining room, so he had to go a little further away to answer the call.

Lucas King reported, "President Hart, the car has been delivered to the Fitch Family. Madam’s bag is still with . Should I bring it over now?"

"No need. Just bring it to the office tomorrow. But take a photo of the contract and send it to ."

"Alright," Lucas replied hesitantly, "President Hart, are you really letting Madam sell the courtyard?"

Christopher’s expression was deep and unreadable. After a mont of contemplation, he instructed, "Send the contract first, and I’ll discuss it with you later."

"Understood."

After hanging up, Lucas quickly sent the photographed contract.

He opened the photos and looked at them carefully, initially thinking the ID information would be that of Chairman Smith. But upon close inspection, the date of birth in the ID was clearly that of a young person, and the person was just a year younger than him.

So, the ID information belonged to Chairman Smith’s son, who was also the doctor.

Still harboring doubts, he took a screenshot of the ID information and sent it to Benny Palr, asking him to check on this person.

On the way back, although he agreed with Alia to sell the courtyard, upon reflection, he still felt reluctant.

If this Dr. Smith is easy to negotiate with, he thought about discreetly buying the courtyard back, without Alia knowing.

He genuinely felt her heartfelt intention.

But such a sacrifice was really unnecessary.

"Dad, what are you doing? Mom’s calling you to dinner!" Hope suddenly ran over, shaking his arm urging him.

"Alright." He smiled, put away his thoughts, picked up his daughter onto his lap, and headed back to the dining room together.

That night, after the children went to bed, Alia went downstairs to their "temporary love nest" with Christopher.

Not surprisingly, he was still busy at the computer.

Seeing her co over, the man turned around naturally, pulling her into his arms.

"Are the kids asleep?"

"Yes."

"How about you? Still dizzy? Any discomfort?"

The woman shook her head, "I feel much better after eating and taking dicine."

"You’ve had such a busy and startling day, you must be exhausted. Go to bed early." He kissed her cheek and gently comforted her.

Alia indeed felt tired. She hadn’t had a good rest after returning from the business trip and had been quite frightened today. Now, she felt light-headed.

Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, it was clear he had been sleep-deprived too. She softly asked, "And you? Are you staying up late tonight?"

"No need. I’ll just go through this data once more to get a general idea, then that’s it."

Alia glanced at the docunts on his computer, worriedly looked at him, "How confident are you with tomorrow’s resumption of trading?"

Christopher closed his eyes, sighed, and leaned softly on her shoulder, "Confidence... is about fifty percent. The money you’ve gathered has indeed relieved a lot of pressure. Just now, Lucas ntioned a bank might grant us a loan tomorrow."

"Really? That’s great!"

"Yes..." He smiled faintly, holding her quietly, his voice husky, "Maybe your sincerity moved heaven, and soone up there is helping us."

Alia beca proud, "Hmph! Are you trying to sweet-talk now? What about in the afternoon when you were arguing with ? You looked like you wanted to eat soone!"

Mr. Hart felt a bit guilty, muttering, "Why bring up old scores..."

"Old scores? Sothing from two hours ago isn’t old, is it? Fresh and hot off the press!"

Mr. Hart sat up, the corner of his mouth lifted faintly, his gaze glanced at her, "If you insist on calculating, then how about the other day when you promised to register our marriage, but left waiting like a fool at the civil affairs office for nearly two hours— how should we settle that?"

"Er..." Alia suddenly found herself at a loss for words, her pretty eyes rolled, then she stood up with a yawn, "Ah, I’m so sleepy... going to bed now!"

Unfortunately, she hadn’t gotten far when she was pulled back by the man.

And, while she was yawning with her mouth open, he turned his handso face towards her and kissed her firmly.

Alia felt as if sothing had been stuffed into her mouth, and startled, she flinched her shoulder, instinctively closing her mouth, which made him gasp, turning pale, "You dare bite ?"

The forced kiss was interrupted, knowing she had ssed up, Alia hurriedly apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I didn’t an to, I—"

"I don’t want an apology, just let bite you back!" He didn’t wait for her to finish, held her head firmly in his large hand, and kissed her again.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but they hadn’t had the mind to enjoy each other’s company properly in those days.
