Christopher answered the phone, making sarcastic remarks, waiting for Alia to keep apologizing to soothe him—who knew Snow would start cursing and drop the line with "Alia is in trouble".
He was in a eting with several executives discussing tomorrow’s stock market reopening matters, and suddenly felt chaotic, froze for a mont before imdiately redialing.
However, the call was disconnected from the other side as well.
His face turned dark, his entire deanor changed, causing the executives sitting opposite him to beco concerned, "Christopher, what’s wrong?"
Christopher didn’t reply, while dialing again, and pressed the intercom on his desk.
Lucas King quickly entered the room: "President Hart."
"Did you track where Snow’s car went?" Christopher asked urgently.
Lucas was startled, stamring: "I... didn’t track it, I suggested tracking it, but you said not to..."
At that ti, Christopher was angry, refusing to hear about Alia’s news out of spite, so he had said not to track it.
But now...
Christopher shot him a look, with eyes as sharp as knives.
Lucas imdiately turned around: "I’ll go track it now!"
In his concern, Christopher beca irrational, having been disconnected twice by Snow’s calls, he suddenly felt stupid!
Why not call Alia directly?
So, he found Alia’s number in the contacts, and dialed it.
Unexpectedly, that call was disconnected too.
At that mont, his feelings were not just worry, anxiety, or panic.
Alia sat on the ground, recovering her spirits after resting for a while, looked at her friend who snatched her phone, smiled helplessly, "Snow, what are you doing, give the phone... he will worry."
Seeing an ambulance co through the ergency passage, Snow looked joyful: "The ergency service is here! Let’s hurry and let the doctor examine you!"
She waved her hand, "No need, I’m fine, let the dical staff rescue those who are more seriously poisoned."
Except for feeling a bit dizzy, having chest tightness, and discomfort in her throat, her consciousness was clear, indeed not a big problem.
While there were many people severely vomiting, unable to walk properly, they needed dical assistance more.
anwhile, the phone held tightly in Snow’s hand rang again.
Alia reached out, weakly saying: "Snow, give it back... stop fooling around."
Snow looked at her state, frustrated, "You! He’s got you completely wrapped around his finger!"
After saying that, she returned the phone to her.
"Hello..."
Once the call connected, Christopher’s anxious and urgent voice ca through, "Where are you? What happened? How are you now?"
"I..." Alia said weakly, "I’m with Snow on the highway returning to the city, encountered a traffic accident passing through the tunnel, it seems a vehicle carrying hazardous materials had an accident, inhaled so toxic smoke during evacuation, feeling a bit unwell..."
Listening to her words, Christopher’s worried and troubled feeling was similar to when he heard she encountered an aviation accident previously!
For a mont, he didn’t know whether to feel angry, concerned, or furious!
Clearly, they had agreed to register for the marriage certificate in the afternoon; she lied and canceled suddenly, turns out she left the city!
What can be more important than a lifelong matter?
And encountered such a dangerous traffic accident!
The other side remained silent, Alia roughly guessed his feelings, instead actively comforted him, "I’m fine... just need to rest, don’t worry about ."
"Where are you, send the address!" Christopher didn’t want to say anything, with the sole thought—to rush over, as quickly as possible to her side.
Alia heard his tense voice, urgent tone, knowing he must be scared, quickly added, "I’m really fine, already safe, it’s a complete jam over here, even if you co..."
"Send the address!" No mood to hear more of her rambling, the man raised his tone with montum.
Alia paused, suddenly thought of sothing, raised her voice too, "Didn’t you blacklist ? How can I send it?"
"..." Christopher was montarily stunned, within a second, his tone lost its previous vigor, "I was muddle-headed at that ti..."
After hanging up, Christopher imdiately opened WhatsApp and removed her from the blacklist.
[Location.]
Alia received those two words, although thinking it was unnecessary, she still sent the location.
The next mont, WhatsApp rang, it was a video call request from him.
She had no choice but to answer, "Now what?"
"Let see you, are you really okay?" Christopher’s handso face appeared on the screen, filled with anxiety and worry.
Alia hadn’t spoken yet, Snow leaned over, "Of course she’s in trouble! When we ca out of the tunnel, she used her moist cloth covering mouth and nose for a little kid, inhaled a lot of toxic smoke herself! But now there aren’t enough ambulances available, they can only rescue those more severely poisoned, we’re sitting by the roadside waiting."
While speaking, Snow snatched Alia’s phone and turned the cara towards the highway and tunnel entrance, "Look, it’s very serious! We almost couldn’t get out!"
On the road, vehicles were completely stuck, many people were helping each other, ambulances crowded the ergency passage...
Christopher saw the chaotic scene, saw dical staff trying their best to rescue, and so were clinging to the fence vomiting incessantly, his heart clenched even tighter.
"Snow, why are you scaring him." Alia reached out and pulled her friend back, taking the phone back.
"I’m really okay, you’re so busy, don’t bother, we’ll return as soon as the road is clear." She again urged the man on the other side, not wanting him to run back and forth.
But Christopher couldn’t rest assured, leaving a "stay in touch", and hung up the video.
The eting was stopped, he called Lucas over, sending him the location, asking him to find a way to get there quickly.
Lucas saw the location address, murmuring, "I just saw in a group chat, saying a traffic accident happened in Yellow Ridge Tunnel, causing a truck carrying hazardous materials to self-combust, leading to toxic gas leakage, lots of ambulances and fire trucks have gone over."
He frowned looking at his boss, confused, "What did ma’am and Miss Fitch go out of the city for?"
Christopher had no idea either, moreover, it wasn’t important now, the crucial thing was to rush there imdiately.
While on the other side, Alia hung up the video and helped Snow stand up, looked around: "Is there a way to get off the highway? Staying here won’t work either..."
Snow exposed her, "Afraid your man will co and can’t find you and worry, aren’t you? True, just argued a mont ago, now you’re clingy."
Alia chuckled softly, "Blessing in disguise..."
More and more fire trucks and ambulances arrived, after rescuing the severely poisoned patients, those with mild symptoms like Alia could also see a doctor.
Although ventilation was opened in the tunnel, it was temporarily closed for safety.
Blocked vehicles, under traffic police’s guidance, turned around along a temporarily opened lane to the nearest exit off the highway, to take local roads.
Snow hesitated whether to cover her mouth and nose with a damp towel, as they moved the car out through the tunnel, Alia’s phone rang.
"Where are you? I’m near your location."
Christopher’s voice ca through, Alia’s heart instantly stabilized much.
"We’re just over a hundred ters from the tunnel entrance, there’s an open space here where many people are resting."
After hanging up, she got up and waited by the roadside, within two minutes, the formidable Lincoln Presidential One appeared in sight.
"Snow, don’t go inside, too dangerous, Christopher is here."
