The plane landed safely at River City International Airport, and Alia’s anxious heart finally settled.
Thinking that from now on she wouldn’t have to face the fear of flying alone, her mood grew increasingly bright.
She hadn’t told Christopher about her return before coming back, wanting to surprise him and the kids.
She wondered what his reaction would be when he saw her later?
Imagining the scene of their eting, she couldn’t suppress the happy smile at the corner of her mouth.
But when she walked out of the gate and saw that familiar figure, her mind went blank, and she stood frozen in shock!
Christopher’s presence drew attention, even in a wheelchair.
And now, with his face full of anger and an aura of cold sternness that suggested strangers should stay away, he was impossible to ignore.
Oh no!
Alia’s heart raced, and her mind was filled with those two words, thinking about what to do next.
If he could find out her return flight, he very likely also knew what she had been doing in Zurich the past few days.
In those few seconds of standing there, her face went pale.
But in just a mont, she cald down.
What’s there to panic about? Everything is almost settled, and what if he knows?
He can’t eat her, can he?
At most, he would just be cold-faced and scold her, not hurting or causing any harm; why worry about it?
Thinking this way, the woman’s face imdiately regained its smile, even brighter than the subtle grin before, her steps lightened and lively!
"Christopher! How did you know I was coming back today?"
She excitedly and joyfully bypassed the crowd, rushing to the man’s side.
When Christopher saw her charging over, his body instinctively wanted to stand up, to hold her tightly in his arms.
But then he recalled the scolding he received a few hours ago, and the things she had done behind his back, and the anger in his heart erupted like a volcano!
With his hands gripping the wheelchair’s armrests, Christopher suppressed the urge to hug her, his handso and profound features stern as King Rhys in fury, his eyes dark and cold as they stared at her.
Seeing him like this, Alia felt a shiver inside, but outwardly, she feigned ignorance and curiosity, "What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to see ? Or..."
She glanced behind her, her beautiful almond eyes slightly raised, "Weren’t you here to pick up?"
Christopher sat there, quietly watching her act.
Beside them, Lucas King was anxious, frequently giving signals with his eyes yet not daring to speak.
Alia noticed but continued her feigned ignorance, "What’s wrong with you all?"
Christopher finally couldn’t hold it back, restraining the urge to stand up and pinch her, speaking directly, "Did you sell Venus?"
The woman’s heart trembled.
As expected, he knew all about it.
She wondered who had spilled the beans!
"I sold it!" She had anticipated this and prepared a response.
The angrier and more upset he was, the more she had to maintain a relaxed and indifferent deanor.
"I thought you suspected I was cheating on you because of that stern King Rhys face—just over this little thing!"
Lucas King, beside them, realized the woman in front of him was pretending and silently wailed in his heart.
The Madam is truly... too daring!
Couldn’t she see that Christopher was on the verge of exploding? Yet she kept provoking him with nonsense.
These two troublemakers!
"This little thing?" Christopher laughed in extre anger, repeating her words word by word, turning his handso face away to avoid looking at her cheeky expression, or he might actually stand up and hit her.
Pausing for a couple of seconds, waiting for his emotions to subside a bit, he turned back to her, "This is such a big deal, why didn’t you discuss it with in advance? Keeping it under tight wraps! You really are good at this!"
Alia placed one hand on the suitcase handle, the other in her trench coat pocket, her delicate brows raised indifferently, maintaining her tone, "It wasn’t watertight, you already know, don’t you?"
"..." Christopher’s barely adjusted emotions were once again pushed to the edge of anger by her words that shifted the weight effortlessly.
Lucas King, next to them, was trembling with fear; seeing the situation wasn’t going well, he hurriedly spoke up, "President Hart, Madam, um... this is an airport, people are coming and going, Seal-Cloud’s already in the spotlight now, if you two argue here and get caught on cara, then—"
Before he could finish, Alia rolled her eyes coldly and arrogantly, "Who’s arguing with him!" Barely ending her words, she pushed her suitcase stylishly, circumventing the wheelchair and heading outside.
Christopher clenched his fists, his pent-up emotions finding no outlet, so he turned to his assistant with grievances, "Look at her! She doesn’t feel she did anything wrong at all!"
Lucas King, in a difficult position, repeatedly nodded, "Yes, yes... this indeed is Madam’s fault, but she did it for your own good."
Christopher certainly understood.
But he felt distressed!
Distressed for this foolish woman!
He wouldn’t even take back the wealth and assets he had given, just not to implicate the mother and the four children after losing everything.
Yet look at her!
Silently, she sold the brand that he built from scratch!
Where was the agreent about discussing things and never hiding from each other?
It turned out that only he held their agreents in high regard, while this damned woman simply did as she pleased?!
As Lucas King saw Alia walking away, he quickly reminded, "President Hart, let’s go. We can’t let Madam end up taking a taxi by herself later."
Hearing that, Christopher imdiately turned his wheelchair to catch up.
Alia turning away wasn’t because she was overly bold; it was because of her guilty conscience and nervousness.
She couldn’t face him, afraid of arguing, afraid of making him even angrier.
Might as well avoid him for now, let him cool down alone.
But before she could leave the airport, Lucas King called her again.
"Madam, our car is parked at P2."
Alia turned around, looked at them, wanting to say, "I’ll take a taxi ho myself," but when her gaze t his intense stare— that stare of death— she chickened out.
"Oh." She sheepishly replied, then walked back to join them in taking the elevator down to the P2 parking lot.
Once inside the car, neither of them spoke again.
After everything settled, the tall and imposing Lincoln drove out of the airport.
Out on the bustling streets, the cabin brightened a bit.
Alia looked through the window at the familiar street scenes outside, reflecting on the unease of the past few days on her business trip, feeling sowhat relaxed.
Though Christopher refused to speak with her, it seed like his eyes were fixated on her since their eting, never leaving her.
Naturally, he also noticed her gradually relaxing and the sigh hidden deep in her heart.
She looked exhausted; she must have been worn out during her ti abroad.
A sharp pain crossed his heart again, and he told himself not to be mad at her, not to do sothing he’d regret, and to make sure to have a good talk, to see if there’s any chance for reconciliation...
After much thought, he finally cald down sowhat, opening his lips slightly to speak to her, but their quiet atmosphere was interrupted by a phone ringing.
Alia was slightly stunned and quickly took out her phone, "Hello, Shaw... Yes, I’ve landed, everything went smoothly, don’t worry... Really? Then send the files to my email, I’ll review them now, yes, the dostic account I left you with, okay, I’ll be waiting!"
