School Transmigration: I, Chosen as the Saint by Dragons at the Start Chapter 87 -87-Luminous Ancient Kingdom
With a "thud," the master of the seaturtle race knelt on the ground.
"Grandfather, please spare your grandson."
Owen looked at the sea turtle and laughed.
So straightforward?
"You handle it yourself," Owen said dismissively, continuing to walk forward.
Soon after, Finn, wielding his sword, caught up.
He was covered in blood, and around him, there seed to be faint ghostly presences of a turtle, seahorse, and shark entwined.
Owen understood that Finn had definitely been forced to kill.
"What about the others?" Owen wasn’t concerned about the lives of those sea races.
"When we reached this mountain peak to regroup, we were surrounded by those sea races. They were after our lives, so we scattered in different directions. I don’t know where they went; they might already be dead."
Finn’s face was etched with distress and extre frustration.
Although Finn’s relationship with Berkeley and Morton wasn’t deep, they had traveled together, fostering so bond.
Owen squinted, his mind power spreading out, covering a radius of a thousand ters around him.
"Can’t find them," Owen’s expression darkened.
Finn suddenly spoke up: "They left with Bessie and Aldington; maybe they’re safe."
Owen’s thoughts drifted montarily as he gazed at the insurmountable peak: "Let’s hope so. If they’re smart, they would have headed up the mountain. We should head up there too."
"Right."
The two ascended the mountain.
The peak, where the Heart of the Ocean hung, was quite eerie.
There were only a few shrubs on the mountain, no tall trees, giving it a desolate appearance.
It was like a cliff in the middle of a desert, seemingly out of place and abnormal.
Yet, the dense arcanergy that perated the area was palpably real.
Owen felt every cell in his body rejoicing and voraciously absorbing the abundant arcanergy from the surroundings.
The mountain slope was inclined upwards, making the ascent relatively easy.
Along the way, Owen and Finn encountered nurous ruins of buildings, unfamiliar to Owen.
Finn, however, seed fascinated: "These structures look very much like the architectural style of the Luminous Ancient Kingdom from three thousand years ago."
"Luminous Ancient Kingdom? Tell more."
"The Luminous Ancient Kingdom was a rare nation on the Novalia continent where myriad races coexisted. The founding general, Hope, had the vision of harmonious cohabitation among all races."
Owen seed to recall sothing.
"Wasn’t the forbidden spell, ’God Descending Spell,’ his creation?"
"Indeed, Mr. Owen, you’re correct. The ’God Descending Spell’ was his research. Hope firmly believed that if the gods of Novalia continent did not reveal themselves, then they should be summoned. He collaborated with various races to devise thods of invoking gods, resulting in the creation of the ’God Descending Spell,’ a true testant to his extraordinary talent."
"Go on."
"At that ti, Hope’s fa was unparalleled, and his vision captivated many races. Nurous individuals were willing to follow Hope. Unfortunately, in a cataclysmic battle, the Luminous Ancient Kingdom was shattered, and the ancient nation vanished. Even historical records scarcely ntion it."
"So there’s such a history."
Finn wandered to one side, gently touching the remnants of a building weathered by ti:
"Hiss, could it be that this mountain peak is from the Luminous Ancient Kingdom?"
Owen’s eyebrows raised, a gleam of curiosity in his eyes.
"Do you an to say that Heartstealer Island is part of the Luminous Ancient Kingdom, or just this mountain peak?"
Finn stood on the edge of the peak, looking down.
Heartstealer Island split into two distinct landscapes from this point: one side lush with dense forests, the other a barren expanse of desert and rocky terrain.
"It’s hard to say," Finn pondered, rubbing his chin, a rare seriousness in his deanor, his hand stained with blood hinting at his growth, "Maybe it’s both."
"It looks like we need to find a mber of the sea race to inquire," Owen stated flatly.
"That’s a good idea."
As the pair discussed, noisy voices reached their ears.
"Bessie, are you even a sea race? How can you speak for the humans? Hand over those two humans imdiately."
"Yeah, Bessie, you’re turning your back on us. Don’t bla us for being ruthless later."
"A saintess of the sea race siding with humans is laughable to others," ca another voice, filled with contempt.
Bessie’s face was clouded with gloom.
Morton and Berkeley were hiding behind her, their faces etched with fear.
Facing them were about twenty mbers of the sea race, all powerful individuals.
Without exception, each was a master.
"Regardless, our goal is the Heart of the Ocean. We should prioritize the greater good," Bessie articulated, struggling to find a reasonable justification.
After all, defending humans as a saintess of the sea race was indefensible in their eyes.
Owen stepped into the scene, making his stance clear:
"They are with . Since when did it beco the sea race’s place to dictate what happens to my people?"
At the mountain’s summit, all eyes turned to Owen.
Morton, who had been contemplating his own demise, suddenly found hope and shouted:
"Mr. Owen, you’ve finally arrived. I thought you had forgotten about us."
Berkeley, too, was tearful with relief.
As a level 5 arraymancer with a bright future in the Laine Kingdom, he had no desire to et his end on the chaotic Heartstealer Island.
The mont he saw Owen, he knew his life was spared and greeted him respectfully.
The mbers of the sea race, however, were not pleased.
"Who are you, a re diamond-tier, to be so arrogant?"
"Hmph, so upstart dares to speak so boldly."
"Heh heh, my blade is quick, just bear with it."
"..."
The sea race individuals were incensed, eagerly waiting for a chance to act.
Stanbeck and Phyllis simultaneously eyed Owen, their gazes filled with indiscernible emotions.
As a genius of the neptune race and a prodigy of the rfolk respectively, both representing the elite of advanced races and potential future leaders of their clans, they were naturally aware of Owen’s identity.
Stanbeck’s gill-like patterns on his cheeks flickered.
"Everyone be quiet. Let’s focus on how to retrieve the Heart of the Ocean," he commanded.
Only then did Owen lift his gaze to the Heart of the Ocean.
The Heart of the Ocean was a massive blue gemstone, emitting a profound glow.
It was perfectly spherical, about one ter in diater. Its surface was as smooth as a mirror, without any flaws, as if it were ford from the purest sea water.
Yet, within its beautiful exterior, the Heart of the Ocean harbored bizarre powers.
Owen seed to see tumultuous waves and densely packed thunderstorms swirling inside, then crashing down with a roar.
He shook his head, pulling his gaze away from the inner tumult of the Heart of the Ocean.
Instantly, the previously seen vision of a stormy sea and violent weather dissipated, like a fleeting dream.
"Interesting," Owen thought to himself.
Stanbeck stepped forward and pointed to an abandoned temple on the mountain: "Ladies and gentlen, the key to acquiring the Heart of the Ocean likely lies here."
Owen looked towards the temple. It was dilapidated, with crumbling walls, and a dry well at its center.
Finn’s eyes lit up, his fingers shaking excitedly: "I’m certain this is a relic of the Luminous Ancient Kingdom."
Stanbeck turned to Finn, his interest piqued: "Soone actually knows about the Luminous Ancient Kingdom. Seems not all humans are fools!"
Morton pointed an accusing finger at him: "Who the hell are you implying is a fool?"
Stanbeck let out a mocking hum , choosing not to respond to Morton’s confrontational tone.
Owen interrupted the group, his voice deep and serious: "How do you know this?"
Finn, visibly excited and flushed, replied: "Mr. Owen, there are things you might not be aware of. The chaos that engulfed the Luminous Ancient Kingdom wasn’t a re war, but sothing stemming from within."
"An internal conflict?"
"No, it was sothing even more terrifying than that."
"Why so?"
"Because this part of history wasn’t recorded in the annals. It’s only ntioned that the Luminous Ancient Kingdom closed its borders for sixty years, and General Hope gathered his army at the Royal Palace Sanctuary. I know this is the Luminous Ancient Kingdom because of a fragnt of history depicting this temple."
"So, you an the temple was the source of the trouble?"
"Exactly. It’s theorized that a great evil erged within the temple of the Luminous Ancient Kingdom, leading to Hope’s decision to lock the country, to prevent the evil from escaping."
Stanbeck, noticing that everyone was captivated by Finn’s narrative, couldn’t help but cough to draw attention: "It’s not just a theory, it’s the truth. I suppose none of you have heard of the ’God Descending Spell’, right?"
"Heh, I have," Finn said, clearly annoyed at being interrupted.
Stanbeck cleared his throat several tis: "Apart from you, I assu no one else knows."
He then looked around proudly at the sea race mbers, basking in their keen attention.
The intense curiosity of the crowd seed to greatly satisfy Stanbeck’s vanity.
"Since you all want to know, I’ll tell you about it."
"The ’God Descending Spell’, as the na implies, is about summoning a deity to descend into one’s self. This is unprecedented. Our neptune race can also summon deities for blessings, but we’ve never been able to have a deity descend into us."
As he spoke, Stanbeck’s voice grew louder.
On the Novalia continent, races with divine ancestors were few and far between.
So races could only worship lesser gods, seeking the safety and well-being of their people.
"General Hope changed this situation. His ’God Descending Spell’ was a fusion of the thods used by many races to summon deities. By using the ’God Descending Spell,’ one could temporarily wield the power of a god."
"General Hope was already a sage, and with the advent of the ’God Descending Spell,’ he was brought infinitely closer to godhood. For a ti, he was unrivaled and invincible under the heavens."
"Unfortunately, with destiny’s gifts, there always cos a price, often marked in the shadows."
