Shen Weiyi soon faced her first monthly exam after transferring schools.
The difficulty of Jiu Middle School’s test papers far exceeded those from her previous school.
Shen Weiyi received the test paper, and her results weren’t particularly good but also not too bad; overall, they were within her expectations. However, Qin Zhen’s scores were surprising.
The other had actually scored first in the class; that girl didn’t seem particularly studious, often sleeping in class. Shen Weiyi had initially thought she was academically challenged but her grades turned out to be excellent.
Watching her test scores, Shen Weiyi said, "You sleep in class every day, could it be because you secretly study hard at night?"
Qin Zhen yawned and said, "If I said it was just good luck, would you believe ?"
Shen Weiyi: What do you think she would believe?
Qin Zhen: "Well, sotis I’m not energetic in the morning because I study too late at night."
"Didn’t see that coming, you actually like studying." Indeed, one shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
"It’s not because I like it," Qin Zhen said, "In junior high, I wanted to buy a cellphone, but my parents disagreed, so I had to figure it out on my own. Getting a job moving bricks at a construction site was out, and picking up trash didn’t pay much. So, I thought about doing howork for other students. With twenty-one subjects, if my grades were poor, no one would hire , so I had to study fiercely. Then, I managed to save enough for a phone over one sester. Guess what happened in the end?"
Shen Weiyi: ???
Qin Zhen: "Seeing my great progress that sester, and scoring first place, my parents actually bought one. That’s when I realized that knowledge is wealth, and studying is the investnt with the least input and greatest returns."
Shen Weiyi: It can work out that way too!
Growing up, whatever Shen Juanzhi wanted for her, she got it, and it seed like she didn’t need to exert much effort for anything. She had never tried her hardest for sothing before.
But now, she indeed wanted to study hard.
Also, that girl had volunteered to help Shen Jingqi with his test paper the other day; it turned out she genuinely just wanted to make money,
not because she wanted his WeChat ID.
She wondered how that boy would react when he found out.
Shen Weiyi unexpectedly found herself looking forward to it.
"By the way, do you have any ideal target universities?" Qin Zhen asked Shen Weiyi.
Shen Weiyi shook her head. Previously, Shen Juanzhi planned to send her abroad, but she wanted to stay; however, she hadn’t thought much about which university to attend here.
Jiang Zhiyi had ntioned wanting to apply for the computer science departnt at University Z; she thought she would choose a university close by at that ti.
After all, with so many universities in University City, she could surely get into one.
But now, it seed like it didn’t matter which one she chose.
"How about you?"
Qin Zhen: "I want to apply for University Z. How about we both aim for University Z?"
"University Z? I don’t think I can make it."
With her current grades, she could apply for an ordinary undergraduate college, but getting into University Z seed nearly impossible.
Qin Zhen encouraged her: "Nothing is impossible. I never thought I could score first, either. Let’s just work hard, and leave the rest to fate."
"Okay!" Shen Weiyi said with a smile.
