Jiang Yu glanced at her and said, "I just ca to tell you that I left so food in the refrigerator for you. If you’re hungry, just heat it up in the microwave. I’m leaving now!"
The next morning, when Jiang Yu ca over with breakfast and knocked on the door, he found that they had already eaten.
Shen Tan had made breakfast herself early that morning.
"Thank you, but they have already eaten," Shen Tan said, looking at the breakfast in his hands.
"That’s okay."
Shen Tan then said, "By the way, it’s good that you’re here. There’s sothing I need to tell you. I’ve been quite busy lately, so I’ve found a nanny to take care of them. The nanny will be here this afternoon, so you won’t have to bother coming over every day to cook for them."
The nanny would mainly be responsible for picking them up from school and making them dinner, as the children would eat at school during noon. Previously, Shen Tan had managed all this herself, but after Jiang Yu had moved in, he had taken over these responsibilities.
But Shen Tan no longer wanted to trouble him.
Jiang Yu furrowed his brows slightly, his expression dark and inscrutable as he looked at her. "Shen Tan, have I done sothing recently to upset you?"
He had sensed a change in her attitude since last night.
She was deliberately distancing herself.
"No," Shen Tan said.
He hadn’t done anything to upset her; if anything, it signified that he shouldn’t show up anymore. Rembering the incident with the dress reminded her that she should sever all ties with the past, no longer entangling themselves.
"I see you must also be busy with work, and it’s not good always to trouble you. Don’t worry, the nanny cos highly recomnded by a friend and is very experienced. She will take good care of the two of them."
"But I don’t feel bothered by this."
Jiang Yu didn’t believe nothing was wrong, as their relationship had seed to improve recently. But now, her attitude towards him had suddenly turned cold.
Shen Tan said, "I just feel that since we’ve broken up, continuing this way isn’t right. After all, I plan to get married in the future. If a boyfriend were to find out that my ex-boyfriend is frequently in and out of my house, he might get the wrong idea."
"You have a boyfriend?" Jiang Yu was taken aback, his mood suddenly complex. Hearing her talk about getting married filled him with an inexplicable fury, as if a fire was burning inside his chest.
Shen Tan spoke indifferently: "Not at the mont, but eventually I will. After all, I’m still young. You don’t think I’ll never marry in my life, do you?"
Jiang Yu stared at her fixedly and said, "Since you’re so eager to get married, why don’t you just give the children? Without the children, it would probably be easier for you to find soone else."
He tried to keep his voice calm, but his words were laced with bitterness.
In the past, Shen Tan would have snapped back angrily, but this ti, she simply said, "You’re right, it’s indeed hard to find soone willing to take on two children, but ever since I decided to have them, I never thought about giving them up. I believe there will always be soone willing to accept them. No matter what, I’m not going to give you the children."
As soon as he spoke, Jiang Yu regretted it; he had co to nd their relationship, not to exacerbate the conflict.
Looking at Shen Tan in front of him, he tried to calm himself: "If you just want to get married, why can’t you marry ? I am the children’s father, and no one could be better for them than I."
Shen Tan looked up at him and said, "Probably because I hold grudges. I rember the good you do to , but I rember even more the wrongs."
Betrayed trust could only happen once.
