Mr. Shen Weiyi had just returned to her office when she heard soone call out, "Secretary Jiang is looking for you."
To avoid suspicion, Secretary Jiang seldom directly sought her out at the company.
Shen Weiyi thought it must be sothing important, so she placed the box ng Shangchu had given her on her own desk and then went to Secretary Jiang’s office.
Shen Weiyi knocked on the door and then pushed it open, asking, "Did you want to see ?"
Secretary Jiang gestured for her to close the door, then took out several bridal gown catalogues from a drawer and handed them to her with a smile, "I had contacted a few boutiques that specialize in custom-made gowns earlier, and they have just sent over their latest catalogues. Mr. Shen is afraid that you might not like the gown he chose, so he wanted you to co and select one yourself."
Shen Weiyi had not expected to be sought out for this reason, especially since she had only just found out about her own engagent from soone else.
"I thought you were planning to tell on the day of the engagent," Shen Weiyi scoffed.
If one did not know better, one might think she and Sheng Ting were in an arranged marriage. How could it be that such a big matter as an engagent was the last thing the person involved knew about?
Utterly ridiculous.
Secretary Jiang chuckled, "Mr. Shen thought that since young people dislike the hassle, it would be better to wait until everything was arranged before telling you."
As if that could fool a child.
It wasn’t that they feared the hassle; it was clear they knew she wasn’t planning the event, so they decided just to present her with a fait accompli.
The matter being as it was, Shen Weiyi didn’t want to argue about such things, "Alright, I’ll stop by the villa after work tonight and have dinner with him. You can send the things there."
She still had to work in the afternoon and couldn’t stay in soone else’s office picking things out at her leisure, lest soone see and start spreading rumors.
"Okay!" Secretary Jiang nodded, "By the way, how are you finding the work? Is there anything I can help with?"
"No, it’s quite good," she said. The current work wasn’t too difficult for her.
Secretary Jiang continued, "I heard that soone at the company is giving you a hard ti. Do you want to step in?"
"No need, I can handle it myself," Shen Weiyi declined.
"Okay!" Seeing that she did not bring up Chen Rong, Secretary Jiang guessed she wanted to deal with it on her own and did not pursue it any further.
Outside.
A colleague sitting next to Shen Weiyi inadvertently spotted the box on her desk, and out of curiosity, couldn’t resist picking it up. Upon opening it, they couldn’t help but let out an exclamation.
"What’s the matter?" the others asked, turning to look.
"What a beautiful bracelet. Do you guys think it’s real or fake?" A female colleague took a jade bracelet out of the box and put it on her own wrist.
"It must be fake, right?"
"Definitely fake. How could an intern afford a real one?"
"But the quality of this jade bracelet looks very good; fakes aren’t usually this translucent. It looks like it might be real."
"Can’t we find out if it’s real by testing it?"
"How do you test it?"
"I heard that if you drop a bead of water on the jade and it stays beaded without spreading, it’s real jade. Why don’t you try?"
"..."
Everyone gathered around, discussing noisily.
Shen Weiyi walked out of Secretary Jiang’s office to see such a scene. She saw a group of people surrounding her workstation, and feeling puzzled, she saw the jade bracelet on the girl’s hand and imdiately understood.
She approached with a cold expression and said, "Please take it off."
