Ti quietly slipped into the end of December.
It had been over a month since Shen Weiyi moved into Sheng Ting’s apartnt.
Sheng Ting had been away for the past few days. The experint he led had made a breakthrough and caught the eye of the national laboratory, which had been in talks with him. The two laboratories had reached a preliminary agreent to cooperate, and he was invited to discuss the details. This was his busiest ti.
Early in the morning, Shen Weiyi’s eyelids kept twitching, and during lunchti, a piece of news popped up on her phone: a plane flying from abroad to the dostic had encountered a problem; it had lost contact.
A sense of dread suddenly clenched in Shen Weiyi’s heart, and just then, her phone rang.
The mont she answered the call, she felt an inexplicable unease. When Secretary Jiang spoke, her anxiety peaked.
Secretary Jiang had brought very bad news: Shen Juanzhi was on the missing flight.
Shen Juanzhi had been on a business trip for a week, with Secretary Jiang managing the company. He had booked the flight the night before, and after seeing the news, he had imdiately confird with the airline that it was the sa flight he had booked.
In an instant, her world crumbled!
It was too coincidental; it couldn’t be true... Shen Juanzhi had ssaged her the day before, saying he had bought many things for her, asking if there was anything she wanted.
They had also planned to have dinner together over the weekend.
Qin Zhen imdiately noticed sothing was wrong with her and couldn’t help asking with concern, "Yiyi, what’s wrong?" With Sheng Ting away, Qin Zhen had been having als with her.
Shen Weiyi raised her head, her shaking hands barely holding onto the phone, and said with a hint of bewildernt, "He said, my dad’s plane went down."
"Snap—"
Qin Zhen’s chopsticks fell to the ground, and soon after regaining her composure, she hurriedly comforted Shen Weiyi, "Could there have been a mistake? Don’t panic just yet, I’ll go with you to the airport to ask. Your uncle is blessed by fate, he definitely won’t be hard."
"Okay!" Shen Weiyi managed to stabilize her spirit, knowing she couldn’t panic now.
Qin Zhen imdiately called Shen Jingqi, requesting him to take them both to the airport.
Shen Jingqi was also taken aback when he heard that Shen Juanzhi’s plane had lost contact, but he almost imdiately drove them to the airport in the shortest ti possible.
When Shen Weiyi and Qin Zhen got out of the car, they saw Secretary Jiang already waiting at the entrance. Upon seeing her, he said with a grave face, "I did indeed book this flight for Mr. Shen, but it’s still uncertain whether he boarded the plane. The search and rescue operation is ongoing, and the airline has yet to publish a passenger list."
The missing plane had suddenly disappeared from the radar, and the search and rescue mission had begun in the area where it vanished. But so far, there had been no news. Usually, news breaks several hours later, which ant that the plane had been missing for several hours already.
"Have you tried calling my dad?" Shen Weiyi suddenly thought of sothing and asked urgently.
Secretary Jiang replied, "I did, but it showed as switched off."
Shen Weiyi’s last thread of hope was shattered, and she couldn’t help but feel a darkness looming before her.
"Yiyi?" Qin Zhen quickly supported her.
Shen Weiyi slowly regained her composure and managed to stabilize herself before asking, "What is the airline saying now?"
"They are still searching, and they will notify the family if there is any verified news." But in reality, everyone knew that after such a long ti without news, the plane had most likely crashed.
