Shen Weiyi had not been back to her room for long when her cell phone rang again.
Staring at the string of familiar numbers on the screen, Shen Weiyi’s long eyelashes trembled slightly. She looked at her phone screen for a long ti but did not press the answer button, letting the ringtone sound over and over again.
After a while, the room finally returned to silence. Just when Shen Weiyi thought the other party had finally given up, there was suddenly a loud "bang—" from outside the window.
Shen Weiyi walked to the window and saw a huge firework burst open above her head, beautiful and dazzling, incredibly bright.
Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but feel a bit dazed and unconsciously thought back to a birthday years ago.
Jiang Zhiyi had co to find her, taking her up on the roof. That day, the other party had sohow managed to get a pile of fireworks, and the two of them snuck up on the roof to set them off behind everyone’s backs.
The dazzling starlight fell from the sky like a sea of stars; the twinkling fireworks fell into her eyes, warm and brilliant.
The two had promised each other that they would set off fireworks together on every birthday thereafter.
Little did they know, fireworks fade quickly, and so do people’s hearts.
She withdrew her gaze, looked down at the ground, and saw a lone figure standing desolately outside the fence, their back to her setting off fireworks, looking lonely and forlorn.
One by one, the fireworks burst open above her head.
First brilliant, then an endless loneliness...
Eventually, they turned to ashes and disappeared into the sky.
That night, Jiang Zhiyi had set off fireworks for a long ti downstairs, but Shen Weiyi never showed up.
In the blink of an eye, it was the day Z University began the new sester.
Secretary Jiang drove Shen Weiyi to her new school for registration.
According to the rules, freshn had to live in dormitories, but thankfully, it was in the sa city, so she could go ho anyti.
"Miss, are you sure you don’t want to accompany you in to register?" the car neared the school’s entrance and Secretary Jiang confird with Shen Weiyi once more.
Shen Weiyi, "No need, I’ve arranged to et a friend. He’s studying at Z University and will co to pick up later."
"Alright, then please be careful on your own," Secretary Jiang cautioned. "This is your first ti living on campus, and if you’re not comfortable with it, just call Mr. Shen or . Mr. Shen said he knows your school’s leadership and he can arrange for you to move back ho."
"I got it!" said Shen Weiyi.
These two still treated her like a child. Over sothing as trivial as living in a dormitory, they were still worried she wouldn’t be able to cope.
"Tell my dad not to worry about . I’ll visit him after the military training is over."
"I will relay the ssage to Mr. Shen," Secretary Jiang replied in a flat tone. "Oh, and Mr. Shen has left so gifts for your new roommates on the passenger seat. There’s one for each person. Don’t forget to take them with you later."
"Sure!"
Shen Juanzhi had specifically instructed Secretary Jiang to prepare a set of skincare products for each of her new roommates.
When it ca to understanding girls, her dad was the expert.
Shen Weiyi asked Secretary Jiang to stop the car at the entrance, then she pulled her suitcase and entered the gates of Z University.
She had been here once before with Shen Tan, but only took a brief look around the entrance. Now, she finally had the chance to properly explore this esteed institution that so many students longed for.
At the school entrance, there were upperclassn responsible for welcoming the new students.
Almost imdiately after Shen Weiyi got out of the car, so people noticed her and ran over to ask if she needed help.
After politely declining their offer, Shen Weiyi took out her phone and called Sheng Ting.
The phone rang just once before being answered.
Shen Weiyi: "I’ve arrived, where are you?"
"Look to your left, I am right there facing the school entrance on your left-hand side," Sheng Ting’s warm voice ca through from the other end of the phone.
