Pulling out his phone, Leng Xuan found a ssage from Zhou Li, which read, "Go ahead tonight, I have sothing to do and will be back later."
It turned out that Zhou Jingpeng had already called Zhou Li, ntioning that Leng Xuan would co over for dinner and suggesting she and Leng Xuan co back together. However, after so thought, since Leng Xuan didn’t truly like her, she figured it was better to keep a certain distance from him. Going ho together would inevitably lead to their classmates seeing them, which would result in rumors and gossip—not good at all.
Leng Xuan didn’t think much of it and replied, "Okay, I know," then put his phone in his pocket and went on his way.
"Boss, did soone send you a ssage?" Zhao Xiaotian asked with an insinuating expression and a smile.
"What’s with all the questions?" Leng Xuan replied with a smile, giving Zhao Xiaotian, the kid, a smack on the forehead, who then touched his forehead with a silly chuckle!
The afternoon classes passed quickly, and Leng Xuan went straight to Zhou Jingpeng’s ho. Seeing him arrive alone, Zhou Jingpeng asked in surprise, "Didn’t my sister co back with you?"
Leng Xuan said, "She ntioned she had sothing to do and would be back later!"
Zhou Jingpeng gave an "Oh" and smiled, "Then take a seat in the living room first, I still have a few dishes to finish up."
Leng Xuan grunted a response. In Zhou Jingpeng’s ho, he was not at all formal and sat down directly on an old, worn sofa, then turned on a broken TV he had picked up from a second-hand market.
A few minutes later, there was a "knock, knock, knock!" from outside.
Zhou Jingpeng was busy cooking in the kitchen, so Leng Xuan got up and went to open the door, thinking it might be Zhou Li returning. But as the door opened, he found instead a girl in a school uniform with a backpack—Xiao Yun—standing at the doorstep, leaving him stunned.
"Huh?" Xiao Yun looked up and caught sight of Leng Xuan, freezing on the spot!
Xiao Yun, who lived nearby and was very close to the Zhou siblings, usually calling them Sister Li and Brother Jingpeng, had received a phone call from Zhou Jingpeng while at school. During the call, he cheerfully ntioned that an important guest was coming to dinner that evening and invited Xiao Yun over as well.
Out of curiosity, Xiao Yun asked, "Brother Jingpeng, who’s this important guest? Do I know them?"
Zhou Jingpeng said jokingly, "It’s my sister’s new boyfriend, haha."
Xiao Yun was a bit shy around strangers, so she was initially reluctant to go. But, after hearing that, she agreed to co, because to her knowledge, Sister Li didn’t seem like soone who would date early. So out of the blue, she has a boyfriend? Xiao Yun was curious about who could be so charming as to win Sister Li’s heart. Eager to et this new boyfriend, she went straight to Zhou Jingpeng’s house after school without even dropping her backpack at her place.
However, Xiao Yun could never have dread that she would see Leng Xuan here. Lately, she had dreamt about him several tis and genuinely missed him, but why would he be at Brother Jingpeng’s house? Could it be that the new boyfriend Brother Jingpeng ntioned on the phone was...
On this thought, Xiao Yun felt a pang in her heart and didn’t dare to continue thinking further, standing frozen in front of Leng Xuan.
