Chapter 652: Chapter 655: Tomboy Chapter 652: Chapter 655: Tomboy “No problem!” Hei Tie nodded.

“At such an old age and still relentlessly pursuing won, it’s quite rare indeed,” Qin Xiaotian mocked coldly.

“So old n indeed like that,” Hei Tie chuckled as soon as he heard it, then continued, “So, don’t be too surprised.”

Qin Xiaotian laughed and said, “Why would I be surprised? I’m just making fun of him.”

Fang Hao frowned the entire ti beside them.

“Hey, kid, why are you frowning and staying silent?” Qin Xiaotian asked.

“I just feel that the spell the old man cast just now was a bit eerie,” Fang Hao said with a frown, “Did he use so kind of trick, or so deceitful thod?”

“Don’t worry about what tricks he used, nor about any deceitful techniques he might have employed,” Qin Xiaotian said with a smile, “As long as he can use these thods to deal with Xiao Han, I think that’s all that matters.”

“Right!” Hei Tie nodded and said, “Our goal is to kill Xiao Han, and whatever thods the old man used are none of our business, understood?”

“Hmm!” Fang Hao nodded.

The three of them continued discussing in the eting room, apprehensive about the old man’s mysterious spell.

……

Xiao Han had been quite busy these past few days.

During the sumr vacation, Hann Restaurant was still expanding wildly, and in just half a month’s ti, two more Hann Restaurants were set to open. Furthermore, they were opening on consecutive days, which was extrely tense.

With this, the provincial city would now boast a total of ten Hann Restaurants.

Among these ten Hann Restaurants, Store No. 3 and Store No. 4 were the most profitable because they were in the best locations. Although Store No. 1 in University Town did good business usually, there was always a low and high season every year. The low seasons were the winter and sumr vacations. During the vacations, the University Town’s restaurant would see far fewer custors, only the local residents would go there to eat.

However, during holidays, the staff of Store No. 1 would be transferred to other restaurants to help out.

After finishing a day’s work, Xiao Han returned to University Town. He planned to finish up in the next few days and, after the two new restaurants stabilized, he would head back to Linjiang City. After all, his mother was still there in Linjiang City. It was only right to go ho and see her.

When he was returning to University Town, suddenly, a figure blocked his way.

“Xiao Yu?” Xiao Han looked at Lan Yudie in surprise.

“You stinker, how long has it been since you last saw ?” Lan Yudie challenged.

“Not too long,” Xiao Han said excitedly as he jumped out of his car, then eagerly asked, “Where have you been recently?”

“Hee hee…” Lan Yudie excitedly threw herself at him.

The two embraced tightly. Xiao Han hadn’t seen Lan Yudie for so long; recently, she had been out of touch, her phone unreachable, and she hadn’t replied to his ssages. Xiao Han had worried sothing had happened to her, but then he thought, what could possibly happen to a living person? And if sothing did happen, soone would likely call him to inform him, right? Besides, with the recent restaurant openings, he really couldn’t afford to be distracted.

With no other choice, he had to imrse himself in his work wholeheartedly.

“What have you been up to recently?” Xiao Han inquired.

“Going on blind dates!” Lan Yudie giggled.

Smack, smack…

Upon hearing that, Xiao Han raised his hand and firmly smacked Lan Yudie’s buttocks.

“Ah!” Lan Yudie cried out in surprise, coquettishly saying, “You… you jerk, why did you hit ?”

“Hitting you is already letting you off easy,” Xiao Han huffed, “I’ve been lenient with you. Try saying sothing like that again and see what happens!”

Lan Yudie pursed her lips and said, “Alright, I was wrong. Actually, I’ve been busy with my Ph.D. thesis recently.”

“How’s it going?” Xiao Han asked.

“I’ve submitted it, just waiting for the notification,” Lan Yudie replied with a giggle.

“Then that’s good,” Xiao Han said, taking Lan Yudie by the hand.

“You seem to have been very busy lately?” Lan Yudie remarked.

“Yeah!” Xiao Han nodded and said, “With several restaurants opening at the sa ti, I’ve been nearly overwheld. We’re short-handed and can’t recruit enough people all at once.”

“Silly, why didn’t you ask for help?” Lan Yudie, still giggling, said, “The sumr holiday is here, and I was actually looking for a job. What do you think? Should I apply?”

“It’s too tough, I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle it!” Xiao Han responded.

“I’m not afraid of hard work,” Lan Yudie boasted, raising her arm, “I am a tough girl.”

Lan Yudie’s willingness to help deeply touched Xiao Han’s heart. Finding a girl like her, Xiao Han felt extrely content.

“Silly, you need to focus on your Ph.D. thesis, how could I hold you back?” Xiao Han looked at her tenderly.

“I’m not afraid at all!” Lan Yudie laughed.

“You’re not afraid, but I’m worried about you!” Xiao Han said with concern.

“You don’t have to feel so much for ; I really want to help you.” Lan Yudie spoke earnestly, “I’ve decided that for the remaining month and a half of the sumr vacation, I’m going to help out at your restaurant.”

“Since you’re determined to help, you might as well work in the office,” Xiao Han suggested.

“No way, I want to struggle on the front lines,” Lan Yudie insisted seriously, “Service work is the true test of a person.”

Seeing Lan Yudie’s determination, Xiao Han had no choice but to reluctantly agree. However, in Xiao Han’s view, Lan Yudie probably just wanted to try sothing new. Once she really started working, he feared she might change her mind. After all, service work was not really that easy.

Xiao Han drove Lan Yudie to the University Town. Then they left the car in the University Town and went for a walk.

With the students away for vacation, the University Town seed very desolate. Normally at this ti, it would be bustling with people, but now, it was sadly empty, with only a few students walking around. Even the stores on the street were mostly closed. Those that were open were quiet as well.

“It’s so deserted!” Lan Yudie murmured.

“Yes,” Xiao Han agreed, nodding, “It really is quiet.”

Just then, an oddly dressed elderly Taoist priest approached them.

The old priest held a horsetail whisk in hand, wore a gray Taoist robe, donned a hat on his head, and had a smile that was neither here nor there on his face.

Such a person naturally attracted attention when walking down the street.

“Xiao Han, look, that person is so strange,” Lan Yudie pointed at the approaching old priest.

“Hmm,” Xiao Han nodded.

Just as they were about to bypass the old priest, they found that no matter how they tried, they couldn’t get around him. Just as Xiao Han was about to turn back, the old priest ca over with a smiling face and said, “Benefactor, I am an old Taoist from the Qingfeng Sect, possessing so mana. Might I have the honor of performing a divination for you?”

“A Taoist priest who can tell fortunes?” Xiao Han asked in return.

“I have so knowledge!” the old priest promptly claid.

“Since you only know a little, let’s forget it,” Xiao Han shook his head, “Fate is sothing that one controls oneself. How could you possibly foresee it?”

Xiao Han had seen from a distance that this old priest exuded a malevolent energy, so he was convinced the fellow was up to no good. He had intended to steer well clear of him, but to his surprise, the old man had taken the initiative to approach. This made it impossible for Xiao Han to shake him off.

“Ha ha…” the old priest laughed upon hearing Xiao Han’s words, shaking his head, “You are mistaken. Fate is always predetermined by heaven. As the saying goes, ‘If King Yama says you die at the third watch, you won’t survive till the fifth.’ Young man, it would be best for you to have a reading done.”

Hearing what the old priest said, Xiao Han was even more certain that the man was a harbinger of ill intent.

Xiao Han turned to Lan Yudie and said, “Xiao Yu, you… you go back first.”

“Why?” Lan Yudie exclaid, “You might as well let him read your fortune. I’ll pay for it. Taoist priest, how much do you charge for a reading?”

“If it’s an excellent divination, the fee is one hundred yuan. If it’s the worst kind, it’s free,” the old priest said with an indifferent smile.

“Then give him an excellent divination,” Lan Yudie was clueless about fortune-telling and thought it was rely for amusent, not realizing that today, the old priest’s intent was not to entertain, but to claim a life.

“Miss, you may receive an excellent divination, but he, unfortunately, cannot,” the old priest gently stroked his beard.

“Why?” Lan Yudie asked eagerly.

“Xiao Yu, go quickly!” Xiao Han’s tone grew more serious, his fists clenched tightly.

“I won’t leave,” Lan Yudie shook her head, “I want to see what kind of fortune the priest can predict for you.”

“Stop looking. No matter what, I’m fated for misfortune today,” Xiao Han scoffed.

“Young man, it seems you’re quite knowledgeable,” the old priest said with a faint smile.

Xiao Han’s mouth curved into a cold smirk, then he said, “It seems you do an harm after all.”

“So, it would be better for to do a reading for you,” the old priest, still smiling, added, “Who knows, I might be able to help you resolve this crisis.”

“Alright!” Xiao Han stretched out his hand, “Then see if my fate includes a calamity.”

“I don’t need to see your hand,” the old priest shook his head.

“Then what will you look at?” Xiao Han asked, puzzled.

“I only need to study your features,” the old priest replied with a chilly smile, “to know what year and month you were born in and whether your fate includes disaster.”

“Ha ha…” Xiao Han laughed, “Go ahead, then, have a look.”

Xiao Han leaned forward deliberately.

After pretending to scrutinize carefully for a mont, the old priest said, “You were born in the Year of the Tiger and the Month of the Rabbit… tsk, tsk… that is the fate of a lone star of malign influence, afflicted by evil, with a calamity… and that calamity is today!”

“I know!” Xiao Han nodded, “The person who wants to kill has already arrived.”

“Heh heh…” the old priest chuckled, and with a swift motion, he lightly slapped Xiao Han’s forehead, “Boy, there’s no doubt that you’re dood today.”
