As the eastern sky began to brighten, Captain Ouyang Jian led his team swiftly toward the villa district. His face was grim, as though a storm of anger brewed beneath the surface.
"What the hell is going on?"All he had done was assign those two to patrol the streets, hoping they wouldn’t cause trouble so he could focus on handling Scrap Iron City’s current crisis. Yet out of nowhere, they called him to report discovering a Love Demon System predator targeting young won. Worse yet, there were seven victims at the scene...Ouyang Jian had seen the fear on Ye Feifei’s face when she called him. He was sure those two hadn’t planned on informing him initially. If not for discovering seven victims and realizing the gravity of the situation, Ye Feifei probably wouldn’t have said anything at all. They must have intended to handle it quietly on their own, right? The worst part was that when Ouyang Jian arrived with reinforcents, he indeed found the charred corpse of a Love Demon and seven victims. But what terrified him even more was this: one of those two patrolling officers had gone missing.Where had he gone?Ouyang Jian imdiately ordered Lucky Sister to check surveillance footage. They saw Wei Wei gleefully driving off in a small truck and, together with Little Lin, tracked his route. Finally, just as dawn broke, they arrived at this villa district. The stench of blood hit them like a tidal wave, making Ouyang Jian’s heart tremble. This ti, they didn’t even need to search, they rushed straight toward the innermost villa and entered what could only be described as......a monastery....or rather, a slaughterhouse. The ground was littered with corpses, bodies shredded by bullets or sothing unimaginably sharp and terrifying.Faces frozen in despair stared blankly at the world, their expressions still etched with fear and horror from their final monts.Uncle Gun squinted at the scene before him, it was horrifying beyond words. Lucky Sister imdiately pushed Ye Feifei outside to spare her from witnessing it.Ouyang Jian walked forward with a dark expression, stepping carefully between the mangled remains as he tried to imagine how brutal this battle must have been.Step by step, they moved from the outer hall to the inner hall, and then stopped in unison. A faint tremor seed to resonate through their hearts, making their palms tingle slightly. In the center of the inner hall lay a massive pit with a solitary stone platform at its center. Upon this platform rested an unknown mass of flesh, lifeless now, its color grayish-white and carbonized.Kneeling before this mass of flesh was a figure clad in black robes, likely soone of high rank within this ritualistic group. But now, he knelt lifelessly before the carbonized flesh, arms outstretched as though offering sothing: his own severed head. The head’s expression was frozen in terror and shock, completely devoid of any reverence or confidence it might have held in life.Around the pit were scattered bones, ticulously arranged, with their faces turned toward the stone platform as though bearing witness to so horrific event. Even for those accustod to grueso scenes, this grotesque tableau struck a nerve deep within them.Lucky Sister held her breath against the overwhelming stench of blood and whispered:"What is this?"Ouyang Jian remained silent for a long mont before replying softly:"A corpse... but not just any corpse.""Perhaps it’s more accurate to call it... an artwork?"He spoke slowly, almost wistfully:"An artwork titled ‘Sacrifice’...""...and it was created with great care." The surrounding team mbers tensed visibly as they struggled to mask their shock at what they were seeing.Ouyang Jian sighed deeply, his thoughts drifting back to what that old woman had told him when he first received Ye Feifei’s call:"Ouyang... I know what you want to ask, but I can’t see things that are far above .""I can only tell you this, Scrap Iron City is about to undergo major changes...""When I look into its near future, all I see is an ocean of blood falling from the sky, a sea of blood that will drown everything!" At that sa mont, Wei Wei returned ho.His heart felt unusually calm.He hadn’t killed the Life ntor directly but had found him an appropriate "destination." Tick-tock... Tick-tock... Tick-tock...As Wei Wei stepped through his door, he heard the clear sound of clock hands turning in his mind.Normally, such sounds would awaken an insatiable desire within him, but now he felt an unprecedented tranquility. Despite being covered in blood from head to toe, he quietly sat down on his sofa. His expression grew distant, as though transported back into that endless sea of blood... Blood lapped against his feet like waves stirred by an invisible wind, parting gently on either side.A massive execution scaffold lood against a dark red sky.Wei Wei felt countless whispers flooding into his mind, madness pouring into every corner of his thoughts.Beyond the veil of blood mist stood towering and twisted monsters, their movents halting montarily as if acknowledging his presence. For the first ti ever, Wei Wei felt himself entering a new state entirely different from anything before... As he approached the third execution scaffold beneath which stood a giant cradling its own severed head, the creature’s eyes were closed; its face bore an expression of strange contentnt.Ahead lay another scaffold, the fourth one shrouded in thinning blood mist. Beyond it lood another towering figure, its form faintly visible yet still unreal... "My ascension ritual is finally ready..."Wei Wei understood with newfound clarity why his progress had been stalled despite eting all other requirents for advancent. While he had accumulated enough sacrifices, what he lacked was sothing intangible: a soul. His previous killings had been re acts of venting frustration, they lacked any semblance of soul or aning. Without that emotional resonance, there could be no ritual worthy enough for true ascension... As endless whispers flooded his mind once more, Wei Wei looked down at his feet where waves of blood surged forward relentlessly...Raising his gaze toward that infinite sea of crimson, he saw countless tornted souls floating amidst its depths, each wave crashing like thunderous applause against unseen shores...At that mont, it felt as though layers upon layers within Wei Wei’s mind were being peeled away, his blood threads quivering excitedly within him...He glimpsed sothing entirely new, a higher state beyond comprehension:Scarlet ntor. To truly understand slaughter’s aning, to transcend re violence, that was what defined a Scarlet ntor... On one execution scaffold stood a giant cradling its severed head, its hollow gaze fixed upon Wei Wei as it spoke:"Slaughter is not re senseless violence.""The Scarlet descends upon this world like a deep night blooming with tragic beauty.""It grants peace to lost souls, and instills reverence among those who remain..." This profound realization washed over Wei Wei like an unstoppable tide, and for just a mont, it seed as though even reality itself blurred...Hanging by his door, the small white shoes swayed slightly, as though trembling faintly...A phantom figure erged from within his dreams, a girl obscured by bloodstains save for her unmistakable white shoes...She stood silently before him, her face hidden beneath layers of gore, but her eyes shone through with piercing clarity...Reaching out gently, she grasped Wei Wei’s bloodied hand with her own cold fingers:"Brother..."Her voice was soft yet haunting:"Thank you..." Wei Wei opened his eyes slowly, forcing himself into what he hoped was a reassuring smile despite everything, and asked quietly:"Have I managed to ease your pain?"The girl shook her head gently:"Brother, I’ve already died, I’ll forever remain trapped in my most painful mont.""Then..."Wei Wei’s voice trembled slightly, as though pierced by countless needles:"If I find everyone responsible for your suffering, and kill them all?"The girl didn’t shake her head this ti, instead, a faint smile appeared amidst her bloodstained features:"At least then no one else will endure such pain again...""But Brother... would you really do that for us? We’re just lambs destined for sacrifice, we know nothing else... When God’s gaze falls upon us, we can only lie obediently upon His altar...""And besides, we’re already dead...""No matter what you do, we’ll never co back." Her gentle voice carried truths more cruel than anything else, but despite this, Wei Wei forced himself into calmness once more, even as veins bulge across his forehead..."I will," he said firmly while nodding resolutely: "No matter what, I’ll keep going.""After all, I chose to stand with the lambs..." The girl smiled softly:"Brother, will you make a promise?""Pinky swear?"Amidst blurred lines between reality and illusion, a small bloodstained hand intertwined with another equally stained larger hand, their pinkies locking together gently...For just an instant, it seed as though crystalline tears fell from her unseen face while those tiny white shoes swayed faintly nearby...And there on his sofa, tears rolled silently down Wei Wei’s cheeks too, for at last, he had entered Third State:Scarlet ntor .
