After dealing with Zhao Huangzhi, Qie Ranzhe felt like a huge weight had been lifted off his shoulders. It still puzzled him why he felt this much relief letting go of Zhao Huangzhi. Maybe it was because he was leaving behind the drama associated with her? Whatever the reason, Qie Ranzhe couldn't wait to create distance between them.
The man was completely engulfed in his tranquil mont that he didn't see Airen's attack coming. He had just taken three steps down the corridor when Airen who had been silently waiting for him took advantage of his absent mindedness and landed a powerful blow on Qie Ranzhe's face. The general actually stumbled a few steps backwards with a faint streak of blood flowing at the corner of his mouth. Stunned, Qie Ranzhe touched the corner of his bruised lip with his fingers and vicioulsy glared at the coward who dared to launch a sneak attack at him.
Airen was fully aware of her own strength. She would have never managed to successfully strike the General head on and had to resort to such an underhanded thod to avenge Feng Zi. She didn't care if her actions would result in a major confrontation, which she would most definitely lose, as long as she had so sort of revenge.
An unconcealable satisfaction crept up on her countenance as she said, "He didn't lay a hand on her yet you shot him for a cri he didn't commit. If anyone was abused it would him. I watched a dignified man run around like a headless chicken just to et that bitch's unreasonable demands. Granted his thod was extre but was that worth him taking a bullet in his abdon? Qie Ranzhe stood up straight regaining his composure and said, "Hope you vented out all your anger through this one punch because that's the last free punch you get," his voice calm yet possessing a nacing undertone.
Airen felt a cold chill fluidly flow down her spine as Qie Ranzhe passed her heading to who knows where. She had been in the army for years before she was dismissed as unfit for duty when she fell ill and had heard so many rumors about General Qie's inconceivable strength. Rumors are just rumors unless you experience it first hand and now that she had, she had to say General Qie was a man not to be trifled with.
Qie Ranzhe didn't actually go far, he found himself outside Feng Zi's door. Even though he knew the other might have already retired, he still shalessly knocked on the door. If he didn't do this he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight thus he persisted.
Qie Ranzhe knocked on the door and waited for thirty seconds but there was no response. There weren't even sounds of movent in the room which would most likely an Feng Zi was sleeping but Qie Ranzhe didn't give up. He knocked once more then again but still there was no response.
It was only at the fifth try after standing outside for ten minutes did the door finally open a crack with Feng Zi's damp head of hair peeking out. "What the fuck are you doing? If you wake up Lin Lin I am going to kick your ass," whispered Wen Qinxi with an appalled expression.
Wen Qinxi who had been taking a shower just now didn't hear the door. It was only when he closed the tap did hear the knock on the door. As soon as he stepped out of the shower he saw the once peacefully sleeping Qie Xieling becoming restless tossing and turning with his eyes tightly shut.
He imdiately soothed the little ancestor calming him down but who would have expected the door would be knocked once more. In hurried footsteps, he opened the door and scolded who ever was on the other side. To his surprise, it was Qie Ranzhe standing outside with a bursted lip looking like a wounded animal.
"Can we talk," said Qie Ranzhe just as Wen Qinxi closed the door, "but we can't talk here." Though the corridor was quiet it was still not convenient to have a conversation there. Besides, Feng Zi was dressed in a night gown with wet hair which would most likely lead to him catching a cold.
Wen Qinxi subconsciously crossed his arms across his chest as though guarding his chastity and said, "Let's talk tomorrow. It's not convenient right now," before making subtle movents as though planning to go back inside but Qie Ranzhe suddenly grasped his elbow with a hint of desperation.
"Please," said Qie Ranzhe his had lowered. Though it was only one word, it held so much aning that Wen Qinxi felt an inexplicable feeling in his heart.
"But Lin Lin is sleeping s-," explained Wen Qinxi feeling helpless that is until Qie Ranzhe interjected.
"Move him to Airen's room," said Qie Ranzhe in a resolute tone. It seed as though he had thought of this just now but in truth he had planned this in advance, it was just that he was good at acting.
"Ai (*sigh)....fine," said Wen Qinxi before opening the door gesturing him to do the honours.
Qie Ranzhe didn't waste anyti lest Feng Zi changed his mind. He carefully picked up Qie Xieling like he weighed nothing and found his way to Airen's room. No one was as shocked as she was when she saw the General outside her door holding a miniature version of himself.
Without asking for her opinion, he dropped Qie Xieling off like dropping a hot potato and even tucked him in before exiting the room. Just like that General Qie left as fast as he ca leaving behind a slackjawed Airen.
When Qie Ranzhe ca back Feng Zi was done blow drying his hair and changed into comfy pants and plain t-shirt ready for bed. Actually, Wen Qinxi wanted to strip naked and seduce the General who was naive enough to walk into the tiger's den but he was afraid it would scare Qie Ranzhe away.
